If it was from an old USSR country then it would be in the final.

cyprus keeps sending good songs the past few years but never makes it to the final.

it has no neighbors besides Greece and they are never in the same semi to vote each other as many say they do.

I dont think cyprus will ever see a final and Cypriots are getting fed up with this system.

Evridiki is an experianced artist and that's why I expect a little more from her than from just an amateur singer.

Eurovision is now a corrupt mess, and songs like this prove it. The results for that year were truly inane - that dreadful Armenian tune actually coming 8th - but at least some of the top were actually good songs (Bulgaria, Belarus).

Don't ask me, he had an uncanny knack of it. Anyway, perhaps it's just me being crabby (I'm allowed to once in a while ;)), and 'lamenting' past injustices. I DO think there's hope for the contest now (in 2007 it was a disaster), but it still needs some work in order to rectify the factor of diaspora.

Yes, 2007 will be remembered for the block voting, that's sure. But remember, the winner was very good (It could have been worse - Ukraine could have won you know!) and for an example Georgia, who was debuting and had a song that wasn't for everyone, still qualified and ended on a decent 12th place in the final (Eventhough it deserved waaay more!). I think it's very stupid to say that the ESC is totally hopeless and that it would be history in short time! :-)

I do indeed think 2008's contest was a definite improvement on 2007 - for one thing, both Norway and Israel came top-10 and both with great songs and performances. Besides, many years ago people kept saying the contest would explode, but it never has, and I can't see how the future could change that, at least the most recent one.
