  • this is awesome! I want one of thore reordio machines...

and the quality of recording is really good (saw 2nd vid) it sounds like a professional 78 rpm recording... I wonder how new artists sound in 78 rpm, hehe

visit my channel, you fill find another interesting 78 records :)

  • I have a similar model, I wanted to know what you do to make the needle go to the center, the video helps, but I wanted to know a little more.

  • Try a laser disc. It's a giant DVD the size of a 33 record. :)

  • Excellent video, great machine. Just purchased my first cutter on ebay, so doing a little prep work by watching videos like yours.

  • another thing you can try for recording media is disposable plastic plates! I have used the thicker shiny heavy duty ones with my recordio and they work really well and are very very cheap.

  • @grassulo lol

  • VERY AWESOME!!! You are fortunate to have acquired such a machine in good condition! I look forward to the sound quality on playback.

  • Hey, azzx96, if I play my Granny's record player at 331/3 RPM, how many minutes will I be able to fit a Paramore song Like "Decode", 'cause their songs go for about 4:00 (s) long. So how many minutes will I be able to put onto the CD because I'm trying to make my own CDrecord and I don't know how to do it, I don't have a Wilcox-Gay Recordett, but I'm making a homemade needle to put the grooves on so please respond! Thank you.

  • @Wigglehead2050

Wigglehead - You will have a tough time fitting any where near that much time even at 33 because you will have to control the pitch (groove width) yourself. Trust me, I have tried building my own lathe. The mechanism to keep a steady and even pitch is maddening. Do yourself a favor and save up a couple hundred for the next time one of these comes across ebay. I know I am doing the same!

  • where do you find those styli for recording with this machine?

  • That is very interesting, and innovative to use a CD for the recording.

When I think of all the wasted CDs I had to toss out because of bad digital recording!

I could have sent them back in time to 1930 and sold them to people for their Wilcox Gay machines. Wait, they didn't have E-Bay in 1930!

Oh well, another great idea bites the dust.

Great video, I am off to view part II

    Thanks!

  • A very interesting early recorder. Reminds me of the early war time machines used to record in the field - before my time.

    Regards

    Richard ;-D

  • Yes these machines were used for that. There are a lot of "letters home" recorded with these machines by the red cross.

  • Very Nice! Thanks for posting!

  • You are welcome. Did you Listen to the disk? I posted it as Wilcox-Gay Recordett pt 2. Gald You enjoyed it.
