OK......I need some help. My school os doing Into the woods this year.......and, I'm a bass, so for an audition, wat would you reccomend??? I would greatly appreciate it.
You think that's bad... I'm the Bakers wife, My boyfriend is Baker and my ex-boyfriend is Cinderella's Prince... that sucks soooo bad I am gonna ask if we can cut this scene
Playing a character in a show that's in love with someone else should not be a problem in acting if it is tell the other person to get some talent and win the role
I actually really like how this girl did the Baker's Wife. it's all subtle comedy, nothing over the top, and she may not have the strongest voice but I somewhat believed her portrayal, which is very rare from a high school student in a Sondheim show.
The young actress did an excellent job. My favorite show of all time and one that is extremely accessible for high school talent--not always accessible for high school audiences. Unfortunately too many do the "junior." Shame, tho', great voice and presence, nice set and music, but director let her wander around too much. She was spot on pitch.
i did the junior version once...it strips the show of its meaning. kids don't like it either cause the music is SO annoying if its not the whole show....now i'm doing the full-length version and i am SO glad...
I thought it was very good! Well done. :) And I liked how the piano was disguised as part of the set. Very clever. (Aha.. Passionate charming Considerate Clever...)
that was actually very good. there were a few places qwhen she really made me think of Joanna Gleason (the original bakers wife) but although it was a small line, the way this actress said "...prince for whatever" just screamed Joanna Gleason.
ahh amazing, i am actually like a really big follower of this musical, she captures the elegance and wit of the bakers wife as joann gleason does, tell her congrats!
Yes, this is a high school auditorium. The cast is mostly high school students, plus several young people from a local musical theater group called the Bare-Stage Singers. In this scene, the prince and baker's wife are both Bare-Stage singers. The set was amazing - the kids did it all themselves.
this is the best amateur performance of these songs I've ever seen. especially the first song. cindy's prince and the BW work really well together and it was so funny well done.
I agree. She was flat on most notes she held. The show is great though.

That was really well-done! The set was a little cluttery looking, but the actors were really great!
This is one of my favorite scenes, so I expect alot out of it, and this production really delivered! Great job!

Interesting piano placement. Must make it easier to see cues.

I LOVED the way she turned round to look behind her when the Prince said 'may I kiss you'. Great comedic timing!

i think the baker's wife was to weak, well the person
that played her at least in this production. i didn't believe
her is what i'm saying. she was to innocence i guess,
the baker's wife to me was always daring and outspoken...good job otherwise

i think i agree there. i think her voice needed to be more belty

She's not flat the whole time, just on a majority of her long-held notes.
nooneisalone 4 years ago
I disagree. She sounds right on it to me though the sound quality is obviously not perfect.

i think she might hav been off pitch here and there but it was only for a second and it wasnt that off

@RedwoodCurtain Actually she was flat on quite a few of the held notes. But other than that, she was excellent.

thanks so much for your postive feedback. I'll pass this on to the kids. They really did an exceptional job.
