As of 1967 (when Judi Miller's recording of "Wait, Johnny for Me" was issued), Ms. Peters was recording for Columbia Records. She issued one single for the label, "You're Taking Me for Granted" / "Will You Care What's Hap'nin' to Me, Baby" (#4-44106).
This recording (produced by Artie Resnick and Kenny Young and arranged by Bert Keyes) was first released on ABC-Paramount 45-10669, and indeed in '65 (this has been characterized as Northern Soul, amazingly, given her later ties to Broadway).
@coleywog I've posted "Wait Johnny For Me" by Judi Miller and some people say it's the same recording, so you can check that out. They are saying that Judi may actually have been Bernadette.
I'm sorry but my jaw will not close. This is an amazing find. Thank you so much for putting this out. Stunning. I'm stunned. I'm gonna have to get back to you. Again, thank you.
This song is good. Your posting of 'Wait, Johnny For Me' by "Judi Miller" surely has to be Bernadette Peters! I had the 45 by her (but it was before 1967), and it seems identical. She recorded under two names??? LG
Yes, this recording was made and released in 1965. Also, thanks for the compliment on the picture. I had to look around for awhile to find an older picture of her to go with the song.
I didn't know she was a singer. I know I was crazy about her growing up as a kid watching her on the tube.

It's amazing to think that she was just 17 at this point!

I can't believe this is on here! Was just thinking about an album I had years ago called 'Where the Girls Are' played it all summer long in 1985!

This is interesting. I've heard Lesley Gore's version, but never this...

Girl whooped that hair into proper 1965 submission. Tis song was 45 years ago and she still sounds better than anyone in the business.
