  • I remember when Calloway came to our Eurosport commentator during 1995 Worlds, Joan Haenappel, to talk about skating. Haenappel said the Gritchuk/Platov FD idea that season reminded her very much of the FD of Torvill/Dean during 1994, she felt they looked alike. Calloway said nothing negative about anyone though. She mentioned the positive side of G/P, what was improved in their skating, etc. Calloway was very classy and informative. May she rest in peace.

  • Genius - utter genius!

  • The anthem is RIDICULOUSLY out of tune!

  • you mean pinnacle?

  • I'm proud of you Sir Chris and Dame Jayne!!!!!!!!

  • They're so shy compared to these days!

  • I love the commentator saying that they're the greatest Ice Dancers of all time and 27 years later they still are.

  • Thanks for posting it!

lovely to kept this moment of pride for all nationaloty of the world in up step of cultural exchange of the best

    Cheers!

  • Hmm not heared that arrangement of God Save the Queen before. One verce then the second half of the verce repeated.

  • Always thought it was odd that the medals were presented gold then silver etc. Much prefer the recent change to go from bronze and up.

  • oh my gosh whenever i watch this i get goosebumps and a lump in my throat when our national anthem comes on it really is amazing and fills you with pride has anyone noticed as soon as the national anthem has finished jayne turns and say what looks like *thanks chris* then he kisses her neck it really is amazing they truly are the pride of britain

  • This makes me proud to be British.

They are truly amazing and talented people and deserve knighthoods!

  • i LOVE them!!! No one will ever top them...

  • They were and still are the best thing that ever happened to Ice Dance. <33

  • Torvill And Dean Earned That :')

  • Very weird performance of the National Anthem - pity, because it was one of the greatest occasions in the history of all sports.

  • People moanin. Come on. This is unbelievable. Once in a life time stuff

  • nottingham legends the best we were all proud of them :)

  • You aren't kidding, candpman! Wow, that's awful!

  • 2.56 Jayne: "Please don't kiss the totty, Chris, I love you"

  • 6:17 its the queen of england!!!!

  • HRH Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Northern Ireland, Australia, Canada and numerous other places as well.

Anyway, give Carrotdude some credit,, some Americans aren't even aware that the Queen doesn't live in the USA.

  • @RSVPBlogger Is that her at 6:17?

And come on, we're not *that* stupid.

  • The Queen's nowhere to be seen at 6:17. What are you on about?

  • @ARhysW

hahah see the old lady in the front with the glasses...its a joke

  • lmao the nation athems a lil off key aint it

  • wow in between two russians and they beat them

  • You mean, between two Soviets, right, logom0?

  • yes soviets

  • Who ever is responsible for this version of the National Anthem should be shot. I know its the 1980's but good grief!

However, having said that, great moment in sporting history.

  • I know its dreadful and out of key/tune in several places!

  • miss callaway you are a grat women

  • Wow, what a podium that was. Now they are all olympic champions. :D

  • "how did the performance go for you"

we just got all bloody sixes how do you think it went?!

would literally have been my answer, but they're actually amazing, love them!

  • Bless him.. Chris is just so proud of what he had done!

  • Interesting take on the national anthem at the beginning. I didn't recognise it at first!

  • The Russians were robbed? Were we watching the same thing?

  • I am a Russian and root for my the Russian skaters always but what on earth were they robbed of. Torvill/Dean did the greatest performance in ice dancing history. Bestiamanova/Bukin were good sports and they would laugh at you if you suggested they were robbed. Klimova/Ponomarenko are future legends of dance but were very young and undeveloped here and were totally gifted the bronze over Blumburg/Seibert by politks.

  • and Russians robbed their's at the next Olimpic game

  • shutup were they robbed.

  • This reduced me to tears when i was14, many years ago.and still does now, BRAVO jayne and chris, im just sorry about the politics...

  • Politics all over the world is in the crapper, not just here in the UK!! Tho I will admit our prime minister is a plonker, but at least unlike in the US under George Bush, we didn't vote him in!!

  • i agree with you, gordon brown is such a dipstick! what a moron

  • How right you are this was Mrs Thatchers era when we could hold our heads high

  • Yes, apar from financially crippling the northern cities and creating the highest unemployment rate this century, she really was an astounding success....not.

  • I am from Sheffield a northern city. The Thatcher years changed England for the better. You can forget all the rhetoric it's as simple as this, she took over from a government that took us to 25% inflation 35% basic rate of tax nationalised industries that had to be subsidised by the taxpayer and unions that ran the country. she left an economy that had steady growth, low inflation 20% basic tax rate these are the provable facts

  • @fantastischfish She gave us change - which was badly needed. Labour bankrupt us in the 70s. We had to have a bail out from the IMF - sound familiar? She basically gave evryone a kick up the arse - work, if you cant find it, move! Be responsible for yourself. And not expect to sponge off the state. The Northern cities you speak of are far better places NOW than they were then. Progress sometimes come with pain

  • @MrEurocat The Northern cities I speak of are definitely NOT better off. The Northern city I come from was crippled by her privatisation schemes which meant that the steel industry declined rapidly and recently went out of business altogether, putting thousands out of work. Coal and other mining industries were also privatised or shipped out to other countries, again, leaving thousands unemployed.

  • @MrEurocat Families having to be split up because someone cannot find work? Is this the key to an improved Britain? Reducing families to even smaller units, with no extended family around to offer support? The state is there to support those in times of need: people in my area were tax payers for decades before being made unemployed as a result of Tory policies, are they 'spongers'?

  • @fantastischfish If need be , yes. The family unit is much stronger than you give credit for. Instead of laying on thick, syrupy sop stories that might please a sociology lecturer deal with real life. And as for ailing industries, time moves on & doesnt stand still. We cant all be chimney sweeps & gas light attendants. Stop whining & get on with life. What cities do you speak of? You name not one!

  • @MrEurocat I speak, for example, of Middlesbrough, Redcar and their surrounding areas - crippled by the closure of Corus which was originally British Steel and sold off to foreign investors under Thatcher's privatisation, leaving thousands vulnerable to the whim of a private investor. Instead of supporting British insustry. Not only this, but the thousands of suppliers and contractors who worked with Corus have now also lost business. The knock of effect is enormous.

  • @fantastischfish "whim of a private investor" - ahhhhhhhh now we see the real argument. Do you think companies and businesses should be run - just for the sake of it?

  • @MrEurocat What the F**K ?? Piss of with your boring socio -political crap--this is a tribute page to great artistry--Jeeeeeeezz.

  • @MrDaiseymay No you fuck off - who do you think you are to decide who says what? daiseymay asshole

  • see america!

were not all just baking cakes and old houses!

  • and we're not all posh "chaps" that drink tea all day!

  • go 4 it!

have u been to florida? on the "its a small world" ride, england is all old fashioned....u no, cottages, feilds 18th century peasants ect.

    LOL! america has NO clue....

  • i know right! tehy still think english people wear 18th century clothes and wear a glass monocle and have a pocket watch ...we are a high developed country!

  • its just a sterio type init?

like our stereo type of america, is fat people, on a street of mcdonalds, all wearing shades and superman t shirts.

  • haha yeh..

  • I'm so proud of this pair!!!

  • Not only the pinicle of Torvill and Dean's career, but the pinicle of ice dancing itself.

  • Pinnacle, indeed

  • @amernob agreed...the pinnacle of ice dancing. I also think this should have been the same outcome for them in 1994, but regardless of medals, they'll always be the benchmark for other ice dance couples.

  • I'm just back from Sarajevo and this stadium is still there?? We saw it although you cannot go inside.

  • I was in Sarajevo in 96 and IFOR/ARRC was using the statuim as a base, but it had took heavy damage.

  • I enjoyed this...
