I would follow Captain Video in a local Winnipeg Theatre with my friends every Saturday afternoon in 19.52 before there was such a thing as TV. We were then & years old. When we came home and told my parents what we had seen at the show, my grandmother said we will be flying in space by the time I am grown up. Boy what foresight! The kittyhawk flight happened when she was 15 years old and watched Niel Armstrong land on the moon just before her passing. I could never forget Captain Video!
Amazing what you can find on the internet. Captain Video was a Saturday Serial that I never missed going to see over fifty years ago. Brings back lots of great memories of a much happier less stressfull time.
My mom would drop off us kids from the neighborhood at the Saturday movies every weekend...I loved the Captain Video serials that played before the features ! lmao I'm older than dirt now !
Check out videos of the Dumont TV network series that inspired these. Dumont wanted to sell TVs, and brilliantly invented children's daytime programming so that women would want to buy the sets!
I used to see this at the Capitol cinema Saturday matinee in Birmingham circa 1960. Loved it then, great to get the memories. It all looked so modern then...... Thnaks for posting
This is the best serial Ive seen . It is all action. Great gadgets and no women to save. Just saving the universe.I first saw it 50 years ago and it still works for me. Although I didnt like the animation of the flying spaceship. As a serial, its still number 1 with me. 15 chapters of excitement.
Ah, it's been 55 years or so since I saw this as weekly cliffhangers at the Saturday kids' matinee. You should add "movie serial" to the tags. Are you going to post the rest of this chapter, and the other 11 episodes? Thanks for the memories.

Jetmobile ... LOL ... Most sci fi portrayals of future technology was pathetic. Writers gave it all of a minute and a half thought.

The copyright date is too small to read. Based on the technology in this story, I'd guess it was about 1865.

I posted that comment a year ago. I don't remember if I was joking, or if I made a really bad typo, getting two digits wrong out of four.
