@CVLFMG Sorry youre having those problems man. Like i said, other than problems with one of the speakers blowing out i havent had any of the issues your havin. Cd drives are usually pretty loud on all laptops. Havent had one where it wasnt yet.

This laptop is absolutely amazing!.Here's why :

First of all the screen size (15.6) inches is just perfect.14 inch laptops just seem to small and 17 inches are too big and feel like a mini TV.I used to think that 15.6 inches would be small but i was amazed at how perfect it was.

Secondly,the fingerprint reader is too good.It works like magic and HP simple pass allows you to login to websites using your fingerprint.This is genius because people usually have their passwords remembered by chrome or mozilla,so if somebody else uses your laptop,the username and password is already filled out for them which really compromises your security.

Thirdly,the beats audio is simply wow.I had a HP pavillion dv4 laptop which did not have beats audio but it had nice speakers,still the sound was horrendous.Listening to songs on the laptop was not at all a pleasent experience and i had to purchase speakers for my laptop.With this laptop i did not want to use speakers.

The beats audio is amazing but it is difficult to appreciate it.To truly feel the difference you should try turning off beats audio in beats audio settings and then turn it on and note the difference.But the settings do a require a little tweaking.Decreasing the treble and def. a little and increasing the surround sound and using windows enhancements like virtual surround and bass enhancement bring out the best of beats audio.

The battery life is very decent.I love the design of the laptop.The brown metallic finish makes it look uber classy and the texture is so simple yet so different and stylish.The few problems i have with the laptop are that the texture does cause fingerprints and smudging but thats not big a deal.One thing i would really love was if the laptop had a backlit keyboard but you can't ask for everything at this price.So it is the best laptop you can buy at this price.

@SSvolksgrenadier it has this problem sometimes. just turn off the laptop and remove the battery. press & hold the power button for 5 seconds. now put the battery back and turn it on.....your blue light should come back.. hope it works

Just bought the Dv6 and so far it works just fine. I like its design, specs are good and performance awesome. No overheating or loud fan whatsoever, it´s silent and doesn´t go over 45 with heavy internet and multimedia use. I suspect that those having to cope with failing graphic cards, loud fans and overheating mistook the Dv6 for a gaming rig. It´s not, so be careful what you buy it for!

That's why Hp calls it the envy series because once you get the Dv6 and don't see a backlit keyboard you'll get envy. Though I type a lot better now because of there being no backlit keyboard.

@Sinkutzsar I have used this laptop while doing my assignments in MS word and i have also used it while playing batman arkham city ultra graphics for more than 4 hours continous.... you will not feel the heat or hear the annoying fan sound when in idle state.... but it does heat up while doing intensive gaming or multitasking.but let me assure you, if you place this laptop on a table. the heat is not going to annoy you. hope it helps

It can be a little sluggish at times but arent all computers? I am having 1 problem with mine, the lower left speaker has blown out. I still have a warranty and they sent me the box and everything to send it back to get repaired free of charge, ive just needed it constantly and dont want to send it in for like 3 weeks anytime soon..

I have a custom model of this laptop (i7 2720 @ 2.2ghz, 1080p screen, blu-ray writer, 6gb ram, 2gb 6770m), and it's great. The 1080p screen looks really good, and you will be able to play any game at 1080p, though some not at the highest settings. It does at least run crysis at maximum settings which shows that it is at least fairly good even on the gaming laptop side of things as well as being 1000 times better than the fujitsus my university tried to push on me.

Omg I lovethis computer!!!! I just got this today at best buy for $630!!!!! I have a sims 3 game that I had and didn't use Ty and I put the disk in the pc and it run fast and SMOOTH!!! I would totally recommend it and also I was playing sims for about 3 hrs ( because it was goo quality) and it didn't really heat up it just got warm I was sooo amazed because I had a Dell and this hp is soooooo much better than the Dell

This dick thing sucks for gaming, I got it and you can get up to 22 FPS on Saints Row and L.A. Noire, Skyrim runs at 18-26 FPS at max settings.(Probably the best it can do in 2011...).

Crossfire sucks badly aswell, you are better having it turned off most of the times and it runs more smoothly.

Hope I can return this thing to store in the next coming days.

@TheMudzan I don't have this computer, I have the DV7T,(which is basically the same laptop except 17 inches), and it only heats up when i'm playing games on my lap. Other then that, the fan is really great, in fact it gives you the option to change fan speed depending on whether your plugged in or not, or have the computer in your lap. It has 3 modes for temp, Coolest, balanced, and quietest, which all work really well. I really recommend this laptop over all though.

Thinking of getting this or a Macbook. I have an HP Pavilion DV5 now but the touchpad left button keeps breaking. Can I get the DV6 with a 1080 screen or am I better off getting a Macbook? Macs are overpriced and extortionate (and the specs are nowhere near as good as on the HP) but they do last ages and hold their value. I just need something to work on, I'm in my final year as a student.
