Thanks a lot KwonKicker! I'm a beginner so this really helped get a good stance. Your an awesome instructor and keep it up man, you rock at martial arts :D
I've been doing Tae Kwan Do since i was 4, but i never really looked at the stances point of view the way you did, i just kinda shifted my body and went with it naturally, you helped a better understanding of it, thanks! I got some videos of me fighting on my web page, can you give me an opinion on your side of view on what i could of done better?
@TheLyphia If a street fighter trys kicking me in the groin I could just close my legs on the kick and shatter his kneecap with a punch. So I get some pain, he loses his ability to walk possibly for life. My personal style is about inflicting pain, not destroying the opponent, so I really wouldnt do that unless I was really pissed off. I'm just throwing this option out there so the people who might try a groin shot (you?) think about what it means to piss off a trained fighter with dirty shit.
kwon kick man, you fucking rock, the way you explain things are so simple anyone can understand it, i could kick high before but i wasnt really doing any of them correctly now i do them all perfect
my opinion, i dont like that fighting stance personally because it can easy to get kick with side kick or back kick. i perferr a side stance like floyd mayweather because it kept my defensive mind. that stance is good only they have defensive mind. even in side stance, if have had defensive mind against leg kick, no matter.
hey man, i have a problem aboutsstances. Im tryin to find the best stance for me and as a self taught learner, i learned that power from kicks are transfered not from the kick it self but using your whole bodyweight. The stance im using so far (Jeet kune do stance) is hard for me to use because the positioning of the feet does not let me pivot my whole bodyweight, thus weak kicks and punches. Can you give me an idea on how the body is positioned in a stance to use their bodyweight? thanks :D
@joetheazl In a front stance, the body weight is shifted forward. In a neutral stance, the body weight is distributed evenly. In a back stance, the body weight is shifted backward. In a side stance, the body weight can be shifted forward, distributed evenly, or shifted backward depending on the technique that's used after it. Learn them all, because you will use them all. A fighter that uses only one stance is a fighter that has significantly limited his adaptability.
Also, if it is an MMA style competition where you have to worry about takedowns and grappling, it's important to have solid footing on the ground. In a dynamic style of fighting like that, you will have to adapt with several different styles and stances.
I also Practice W.T.F Taekwondo (Green belt) i use back stance to do front kick or front tollio shaggy and side stance for back kick. Thx for the tutorial this helps people alot.
