i would have liked it if in the titles, they made the tardis fall down another secton of david tennants and christopher ecclestons vortex, but then takes a wrong turn at an opening into a darker and overly more dangerous version of it, and then it just continues by the tardis going all over the place and wobbling trying to get back into the safe zone

This is the best theme tune so far, the way it contains modern tempo almost techno styled music but retaining a modernized version of the original time vortex, the lightning though seems to suggest that the tardis is travelling though a rough part more than likely because its old and half broken.

i love the new vortex because it looks like it could be real! if you flew a plane through a tornado and it landed in a random volcano there you go, real doctor who! it's realistic! the lighting works, makes the vortex seem like a dangerous place! i never like seeing a scary head in a vortex so the words are a great replacement! As for the new theme, I LOVE IT! it feels dark and different but it is an improvement especially with the first 15 seconds! BEST INTRO YET!

@WilligsPage Nah i still prefer the series 3 theme - this vortex seems to simple, The time vortex doesn't change. It's not like its got a chameleon circuit and just decides what it's gonna be each year. The old one was actually - a vortex, and much more like something that takes you to different dimensions, rather than just flying through some clouds

For goodness sake, what is it with all you Who fans that love to critisize even the smallest aspects of Dr Who. There is no such thing as Time Lords, Daleks or blummin Tardises but they all serve in creating and making the Dr Who universe interesting. The intoductions to the show have always been a fireworks display to kick off another great episode of Who and get you in the zone for a sci-fi experience and in my opinion this intro does that just as well as any other before it.

I like this updated version of the music. I also like the job Matt Smith is doing so far as the Doctor. Also like Karen Gillan as Amy. In my opinion, the best companion since Billie "Rose Piper. Long live Doctor Who; one of my favorite Sci-Fi shows.

I don't like nor understand the lightnings, too. Or, well, I get they give a certain impression, but they're not really supposed to be there I think, just as yohanne14 said. I think they ruined the theme, now it sounds all sort of remixed, pretty flat and without all the sci-fi sound effects it doesn't look like the DW theme anymore. Plus, it also doesn't really suit DW now. I'm not against changing it a little, but it still has to have the Doctor Who feeling, doesn't it?

@Bakasara It's far from an official reason by any means, but my own personal theory as to the whole new look of the vortex is that after the events of The End of Time, Time itself became damaged (that the Time Lords went so far as to break through a Time Lock to escape their fate) and the vortex is all turbulent and storm-like because of it. Another theory is following the same path, but that rather than being damaged, Time itself is angry, which is possible given the hints to its sentience.

At the end of "The Big Bang" we see the TARDIS flying off into the Time Vortex, which is still as stormy and flame-filled as it's been since the start his this past season. Due to the events of "The Big Bang", the Time Cracks that appeared throughout this past season never existed at all, thus they couldn't have been responsible for it. What caused them has to be a different event entirely.

The way I see it, with the Time Lords gone the vortex isn't being maintained anymore and it's returning to its more unstable 'wild' state. Hence the lightning.

The new series is awesome now that they've stopped trying to be so hideously family orientated (thus bland). Davis needed the Big Boot for some of his writing decisions. Moffat has made me love it again. And this theme rocks!! :D
