I would like to know if anyone has ever trird a drag racing parachute on a snowmobile. If it works it would be cheap insurance. My theory is that the cute release cable is atached to the rider and when the rider falls of or bails it releases the chute. The chute would then slow and straighten the sled. The worst thing I can see happening is having to climb back up to get on there sled. and you might not need a heli.
Nice pull fellaz! No one understands the commitment it takes to pull those types of climbs off.. See you on Alpine Assassins sled forum.. Oh ya, hater tree huggers suck!
holy shit talk about threading a needle with eyes closed, that was the sickest climb i've seen to date and I've seen a lot of hillclimbs to say that was the most epic. Randy would be proud.
The snow was set up, however these guys still used all the turbo horsepower to make it happen. The consequences are huge and anything and I mean anything goes wrong. Your sled will be coming out in garbage sacks! The logistics are also huge to make this possible, making sure there is enough snow to cover all the rocks, making sure the snow isn't solid ice on top and having a helicopter to get the sleds back down. Even the creek crossing was a huge undertaking!
props to you doc zoom for putting it all together! would have been nice to see it climbed in the winter though. Those snow conditions with those sleds just took the challenge right out. Im not trying to sound negative but for a first accent it could have been more impressive.
Pretty wimpy having to take that sled out with a helicopter. Any hardcore rider would at least descend the backside bowl. Shoulda sent my sister up there instead. She'd show you lamers some less embarrassing style.
@teleskisierra I also ski and I can assure you that while a descent on skiis would be relatively ez, an attempt on the sleds would have had dire results. Snow conditions made a descent off the backside near impossible that day. BTW, send your sister next year. We will watch her poke at it.
Snowmobile riders pack their stuff out, even if it takes a helicopter, unlike climbers and hikers who often feel they have a right to leave their trash on the mountain. Look at Everest - what a dump!
I'm not usually fired up on snowmachines. Not my thing - I'm the guy that would be in your 'hood skiing around. But I gotta say, that was pretty cool. Next year, send it over the top and into the bowl behind it. Looks like you could go massive!
Yeah, did you notice all the cross country skiers and hikers up there...not a one. Did you see that mountain goat running for it life...didn't think so. You need to learn to share.
You environmentalists are a lot like Saddam taking over Kuwait, a land grab...its mine all mine and I'm not going to share, even though your kind doesn't use it and we do. Get a life and quit trying to ruin ours!
Because of people like you we have super high gas prices too! Thanks!
in a way impressive, but in a way it makes me feel like jet skis on a pristine lake: hell of a lot annoying noise disturbing other people´s and wild life´s peace.
I don´t think there´s anything to celebrate in getting more motor vehicles in untouched terrain.
@salasola - Lamoille Canyon has always belonged to the sledders- you are the VISITOR over in that part of the country- get used to it. Difference is we don't mind you guys and we'll be courteous enough when we see you- but make no mistake, those hills are ours!
@mcats8 Well said! I just got back from Moab for the UTV Rally and I can't count the number of mountain bikers I high fived on the trail. Goes to show you we CAN all get along and enjoy the great outdoors together!
@salasola oh yeah? because theres so many people living in that chute? That terrain isn't untouched there are videos of people hiking it and snowboarding down it don't lie. and 2 motor vehicles oooh jeeze something could have suffocated from all those fumes huh.
@salasola Shut the fuck up! I really hate you people! Tell me what the damge is? A little exhast? You tree huggers all have to over to china and protest them dumping millions of gallons of waste into the ocean! Some snowmobile, dirtbike, atv, utv, and truck exhast isnt going to blow the world up!
@MountainModMania - I suspect the riders had a couple of things themselves made out of Titanium as well. " Gamechanger " boys, hats off for pulling this epic chute!
Well, get me your info and next time we do this I'll take you up on it...it's easy to talk the talk!
