Im 27 I have SB. I am for the most part in the same situation as you. Im at that stage in my life were I am definatly looking at serious relationships leading to marriage possibly with the right person. Unfortuneatly I just don't have any girls knocking down my door, I consider myself fairly attractive, perhaps is because I don't know of any other disabled people to meet anyone, and I guess staying at home all the time and not putting myself out there really doesn't help either.
nice video,. I was born with SB-level 5. I've been married for 3 yrs now. He IS "normal" as in..not disabled. To be honest, he's been the most understanding man that I've ever met. It takes a lot to be patient with someone who is SB in my eyes lol I think everyone with SB go through insecurities with their bodies outside and inside...but I think you heal once you see that your partner will love you no matter what :)
I really like your video that you made on spina bifida and dating. I'd like to share that, I am in a relationship with a man who has spina bifida and I'd like to say, it's a great experience! we have shared many great adventures together within this year. And since my boyfriend has spina bifida I like to reaserch on this subject and your video is very explanatory in this case. dont be afraid to fall in love! there is good people out there :)
I know what it's like I also was born with Spina Bifida and dated one with it as well. I have had one serious boyfriend who was with me for 4 years then I was told by him that he slept with another woman. My spinabifida leaves me paralyzed below the waist with some learning problems after years of depression I finally met a wonderful man and have been with him for 6 months he also happens to be paralyzed and he understands what my life is like!
Hi my name is Misti I have been married but now Im divorced but I have had some awesome experiences with dating so dont be afraid to put yourself out there. Be cautious but dont be scared.
I am a 26-year-old male with SB, and I have never had a girlfriend. I'm sure it's due to many factors, but I know for a fact that one of the biggest is that most women in the general population would never ever even remotely consider dating a man with a disability. Women have even told me this themselves. By the way, I have researched SB extensively, and the stats show that people of Irish ethnicity and Latin@s have the highest incidence of SB. I'm Irish-American, and I'm guessing you're Latina?
I'm on the net looking for spina bifida heroes to inspire folks that my wife and I are helping. I'm 60 and have seven children from my third marriage. Three are adopted and two have spina bifida. I dated enough to consider myself experienced. I was single 7 years after my second 4mo marriage and I no longer believed in dating. I decided to make people the most important thing in my life and did my best to lift up the folks around me. Seek God first. He knows the heroes.
I have Spina Bifida. I have a boyfriend. He treats me with respect, he helps me only when I ask him for help, not do things for me because he thinks I can't do it. He is very respectful. I guess I was very lucky to find him. We met at a local gathering place. We were friends for a few weeks before dating. He does not have a physical disability. He's a very funny person.
I go for personality traits. Also respect for each other and trust. He is just really good to me.
I have had a few relationships, all of which I thought were going to work out, but when they would start getting too serious, they would fall apart. The last guy I was w/ had Asperger's Syndrome and he dramatically changed the 2nd we moved intogether & sabotaged everything we'd been working for for 2 yrs. I think he realized how mature he was going to have to be to be w/ me and couldnt handle it. i want something serious. Im tired of the men who play games or the men who just wont grow up.
