the problem was she was a lower caste girl who was falsley accused of stealing $5.50 from a shopkeeper who was employing her. from the follow ups i read, this was a high ranking cop, who was suspended, even though cops have been fired in the past in india with incidents like this caught on tape. i suspect he has some political connections. the woman who made the accusations instead of arrested for child labor.
