  • Just a shame Col. Tim Collins is a tory.

  • What a ham. I am starting to dislike him. My Aunt Harriet would look more convincing in cammies lol.

  • Great acting from an outstanding actor

  • Liberate their oil.........fucking wake up world.

  • WHAT A LOAD OF SOPPY BOLLOCKS !!! For those in the know this is a classic case of Orwellian double think. For a real speech of TRUE power type this :AMAZING SPEECH BY WAR VETERAN

  • I was there, not as good as the real thing! shame it was never videoed! I would be rigid in my seat right now!

  • @timmyraa2 respect mate :)

  • Haz464 well done. I entirely supported you during that argument keep it up!!

  • Swift & Bold !!

  • "A British soldier can overcome any foe except his own Government"

  • @SinDawg030 lol

  • If they were meant to be berets on those 2 soldiers' heads I'm shocked!

  • @markbethebest its not berets that are wore by the royal irish they wear caubeens which are different from berets

  • They say it was a war for oil, and???

  • Welcome to Kent... wishing you success in your endeavour

  • Your use of the phrase magic sky wizard speaks volumes about your intelligence. That sort of pathetic insult against people you don't agree with belongs in the playground. Also, what does my making a mistake when posting my comment do to invalidate my argument?

  • @CableW11 Magic sky wizard isn't an insult, that sort of logic and reasoning speaks volumes of your intelligence. Also your entire argument is that those soldiers were not offended by it, if that doesn't invalidate it what does? If you're really that clueless why do you keep talking? Notice you still haven't mastered the reply button by the way, congratulations for trying though.

  • @haz464 Uh, it is an insult, haz. Why do you keep bringing up the reply button? Running out of meaningful arguments? Assuming of course that you had any in the first place? Secondly, My entire argument isn't just that soldiers weren't offended by it, I simply pointed out that making reference to the religion that has underpinned western civilisation is fine, as valid as quoting Shakespeare or anything else you care to mention, an that only the most petty minded inividual would object.

  • @CableW11 Uh, it is not an insult CableW, perhaps you should grab a dictionary champ. Running out of arguments? Seriously? I systematically defeated you in argument and now you are evading a proper argument because you are incapable of forming your own and are now projecting. Nice try buddy. Saying that religion has underpinned western civilisation is irrelevant, we are talking about the UK and not the whole world, nor is that relevant anyway since it does not change the fact that God isn't real

  • @haz464 @haz464 Uh yes it is an insult haz, econdly I think you'll find that whilst I have putting forward intelligent and logical arguments, you have just been hurling insults, so where you get the idea that you have consistantly demolished my arguments I can't begin to imagine. As for the 'fact' that God isn't real, well, that's not a fact, is it? We don't know for certain one way or the other, a fact that even Richard Dawkins admit.

  • @CableW11 Only a petty minded individual would resort to ad hominem attacks and throw the toys out of the pram for losing an argument :P It is clear you don't really know anything and are just arguing for the sake of it, saying we were a religious society for years is irrelevant and fallacious, we didn't allow gay people or women in the British army for years so should we still do that? Anyways, done talking to intellectual inferiors such as yourself, goodbye champ ;)

  • @haz464 If it makes you happy haz, ok, we'll finish.

  • @CableW11 thanks for conceding, knew you'd come around eventually

  • See my answer to your other piece of ill thought out blather.

  • @CableW11 First, learn how to reply on youtube when speaking to me, not knowing how to press a button speaks volumes of your intelligence. Second, I never said I or the soldiers were offended by him talking about God, I said the speech was better before he mentioned some magic sky wizard and finally perhaps you should try not resorting to personal insults (this also speaks volumes of your intelligence by the way)

  • You know what haz, I don't think any of the non-christian soldiers were in the least bit offended by the references to Christianity, I think they simply took insiration from an awe-inspiring speech. Also, if you tried listening to the words of the speech rather than turning on your mental blinkers you would see that he didn't use try to use god to justify the invasion

  • I don't call saying I'm religious, you're the dissing a moving and inspiring speech just because he makes reference to a belief system you don't happen to share. I would would say that's more akin to throwing your toys out of the pram.

  • @CableW11 not all of those soldiers are christians, also just because we are one of the only countries that have not seperated church and state doesn't mean it's right to invoke god to justify an illegal invasion. Get some perspective

  • @haz464 The invasion was not illegal it was the result of the termination of the 10 year armistice because of repeated Iraqi breeches of its terms.

  • @CableW11 it's funny though how killing thousands of innocent people is justified if it's for the judeo-christian God and not Allah ;)

  • was good until he mentioned all that religious shite :p fiction has no place here

  • @haz464 What a stupid thing to say. If nothing else, have a little respect for your civilisation's heritage, for God's sake. (As I'm sure you've guessed, the g word was intentional)

  • @CableW11 Calm down champ no need to throw the toys out of the pram just because I'm not part of the herd ;)

  • iv watched this at least ten times this afternoon. so moving and so respectful. I feel motivated!

  • Shame it was a war for oil.

  • @ruscoast90 You utter tit.

  • good to see english people respectting a northern irish man for a change ...all ya get on youtube is english people saying get rid of northern ireland ....they are so ungreatful our boys are fighting and DIEING along side scottish, welsch and english yet they want rid of us ..over here id say we are more proud to be british than anywere else

  • @sarahooxo yeah i remember as a kid when at the end of the night, in a nightclub or pictures the national anthem was played and anyone who didnt stand up or messed about during it would be delt with after it had finished

  • @sarahooxo I'll always respect the Northern Irish. My Protestant brothers and sisters!

  • @louthegiantcookie

    good to hear mate :)

  • @louthegiantcookie Though I be from the U.S. and though I be part Irish I still offer my full respect to all Irishmen and all service men (and women) wether they be in the U.S. or not! you and all who have served have my full respect! OOHRA!!!!

  • @ruscoast90 O, my palm met my face when I saw your comment.

  • This probably one of the best speeches I've heard.

  • i could do better ,it would go like this" your all fuckin useless dissmised"

  • @ruscoast90 That actress is playing Sarah Oliver from the Mail on Sunday who was there when the speech was made and who recorded it in shorthand.

  • the point.he didnt puppy talk his men telling them what they wanted to here.told them what they needed to survive.this is done true and very accurate to a military speech out in the field.and what he said was right.the iraqis are the most generous ppl youll ever meet, when theyre not trying to kill you.all in all, this scene gets an a from me.excelent jog branagh.well done.and with the accent and voice change as well.sounds totally different.

  • every soldier knows what they sign up for.and that there CO,if a decent one, will try to get as many of their men home alive as they can.but a soldier also knows that not everyone will survive a battle.but great speech.wish id been there to see it.instead of getting to the same place years later.it would of been nice to fight with fellow irishmen.stead of americans.i was born in dublin, left when i was 12.but again great speech.he did it right.said the right things and was realistic, straight to

  • @hilts9744

Fair enough mate, and I agree. But no need to turn it into an attack.

  • "Remember men, even if we win nobody will remember this crappy little war and the Middle East will still hate us, but be brave for the cameras regardless!"

  • They went to Iraq to kill innocent people and steal their oil.

  • @Bestmoviealive and how,it belongs to us ;)

  • too bad you didn't make this same speech in the Falkland's war, colonist basterds

  • @iarohi Collins was never even involved in that war. Take that nonsense somewhere else.

  • @iarohi '' colonist'' ? If the only thing you can say is a lame attempt at insulting someone, at least use the right word you stupid arsehole.

  • @iarohi ''colonist'' ? If you are going to try an insult then at least use the correct grammar you stupid prick.

  • Col Tim Collins was later accused of torture by an American reservist officer. Collins was treated shabbily by his superiors and the accusations were later dropped with help from other American officers who were present at the time when Collins admonised the Reservist . The American has disobeyed a standing order not to give sweets to children for fear of them dying under vehicles.

  • Is Colonel Collins' accent that thick in real life? Good Speech though.

    How was the series itself?

  • A true leader.

  • @ruscoast90 yeah true mate, was no women there apart from the odd medic and that reporter..

  • @ruscoast90 HAHAHAHA fuckin hilarious... fuckin bbc is so left wing man... i was there but i was with 1/9 of the 1st Cavalry (American)....

  • @mihaeltomasovic The left say the BBC is right wing

  • @clydewell the middle says the BBC is on the other side

  • Great and decent man..

  • @ruscoast90

I didn't see any women there except one women reporter, who is Sarah Oliver(the reporter who was there at the time and recorded the speech).

  • then why invaded them?

  • way to let yourself go ken

  • Tony Blair... that's a man said that, a man who went to war unknowing that his Prime Minister told lies..... but he is a man, as was his foe... unlike you.

  • Well said.

  • LEGEND

  • @ruscoast90 She was a reporter

  • Four words: Cigar Chomping Manly Motherfucker. That is all.

  • Trust Branagh to get this sort of thing right.

  • I attended a lecture given by Tim Collins at Queen's University Belfast and as much as I like Kenneth Branagh, Tim Collins' voice ain't like that lol

  • Iraq, now, has free elections, including the woman's right to vote. Free press. So many of the rights, taken so for granted in the oh-so-civilized West, rights which even now the common man in the street battles for in Islamic strongman states from Iran to Tunisia.

This is blood, this is sacrifice, this is freedom.

And yet, so many of our own would claim that the first two make the third undesirable.

And so they would, until and unless the freedom fought for were their own.

  • @Calbeck

    Why Iraq though ?

I'm sure there are plenty of other third world countries that could do with some freedom.

  • @KingoftheGods123 Because the UN made the US a signatory to the 1991 cease-fire terms --- and thereby an enforcer of same. Even if you choose to disregard all WMD-related issues, Iraq never adhered to most of the terms and therefore was subject to reinvasion at any time. This was also why the No-Fly Zones and Clinton's "Operation Desert Fox" --- both of which were invasions of Iraq's sovereign territory --- were legal.

  • @Calbeck Too true. The Iraqi government repeatedly breeched the armistice and as a result it was eventually cancelled and the war recommenced albeit with a 10 year or so hiatus.

Similarly there is an armistice with North Korea the war has not technically finished it is suspended pending the negotiation of a peace treaty. The absence of fighting does not mean that there is peace.

  • @Calbeck So you support the war

  • @Abdikarimelmi Of course.

  • @Calbeck Did you know that the main reason why the US intervened is that sadaam move his stock exchanges from dollar to euro (trading with france and germany) which impacted US petro dollars

  • @Abdikarimelmi Also Saddam was in contact with the Dragon From Mars, which had infected his mind with a slaver wasp so that the Heterodyne Boys were distracted from uniting Europa under their common flag.

Geez, dude, if you're going to make something up out of thin air? At least put the bong down and try to be entertaining.

  • @Calbeck Man shut UP about the slaver wasp! If one more person mentions him he's gonna wreck our shit.

  • Cunt is the only world i can use for his WAR CRIMES

  • @jenleex war crimes ?? , you're a typical left-wing idiot...

  • yay uncle ken wooooooooo :D

  • @grimblebrumble17889 yawn. Boring left-wing twat....

  • @grimblebrumble17889 YAWN......

  • @grimblebrumble17889 i take u a balaclav wearing lets blow the kiddies up on the way to school, sure there only protestants.MUPPET.

  • Those are men of honor.

  • And what a better place they left Iraq.......*cough cough*

  • 30,0000 dead men, women and children - congratulations!!

  • @MrSuperkrap TWAT

  • @MrSuperkrap Thanks! Hussein averaged 40,000 every year.

  • I hope he does a good Irish accent, he was born in Belfast!

  • he does a damn good Irish accent!

  • Ah if only this speech were a reflection of the reality of the War in Iraq. Alas, it is a terrible, bloody and dishonorable occupation.

  • @NotQuiteLucid Ya, the terrorists seem to hate having us there quite a bit. I guess we should let them win so that they can get back to all that charity work they were doing before we showed up and made them into terrorists eh?

  • @JiveTalkinJack

Terrorists on their own land? How odd. I would say you are the terrorist, for you (Americans) have brought misery and terror into Iraqis, Afghanis, Pakistanis and many other people's hearts. Shame on you!

  • @LealDilis Hahaha misery and terror as in indoor plumbing and electricity for the first time in history? misery as in no longer fearing a theocratic dictator who would murder them for disagreeing with him? misery as in the ability of them hold free elections and govern themselves for the first time in history? Our boys liberate them at cost of their own blood freely given. To call us terrorists is one of the most ignorant or at least naive things I have ever heard. Wake up there pall.

  • @JiveTalkinJack You are terrorists AND ignorant as hell. You have no clue whats going on in your government/society. If you did... youd be up in arms. But dont worry... If you are an American you will learn soon the errors of your arrogance when your own people FULLY enslave your stupid ass.

Coming soon... I guarantee you wont miss it cattleman.

  • @Oen713 Hahaha whatever you say buddy.

  • @LealDilis

Afghanistan was controlled by the Talliban, who removed girls from schools, made women wear tents and beat them if their shoes made too loud a sound when they walked (because it was satanic, according to the Taliban), eliminated music, plays, laughing, et all because these were considered devices of the devil. Watch or read "The Kite Runner". Ignorant leftist like you can learn something. Or read about how artists were treated by your commie buddies under Stalin. You're pathetic!

  • @NotQuiteLucid

    Agreed. Horrific.

  • @NotQuiteLucid indeed!

  • Gentleman soldier.

  • why would you tell soldiers they might die !!!! thats a phscological BUZZZKILL!!!

  • @nextlevel2burittos No, if the soldiers signed up they already knew they might die. They are willing to take that chance for their country. For their honor.

  • @wjz10595 "Honour", they're British.

  • @3wsgabav3 Meaning?

  • @JFDA5458 The spelling is what I'm talking about, quite clearly.

  • @3wsgabav3 I thought you were disrespecting the British. Not clear from your original post.

  • wow, amazing speech!

  • Respect to the REAL Lt. Col. Tim Collins.

The Irish are good people, but I am afraid Iraq never asked to be "liberated." At least, not by George Bush and his neoconservative cunts who lied about WMDs.

  • The speech is taken from the shorthand notes of the Journalist who was there at the time, word for word. And i will take no lessons from the Americans about War, we fought our own to liberate the Falkands from the Argentines. America abstained in the UN and wanted us to negotiate them away once they were occupied. Thank God for the Falkland people and the British Army, Navy & RAF who fought to get them back. Why the hell have we followed the Americans into there wars.

  • How can an Irishman fight for these barbaric oppressors?

  • Sixteen Pounds of Swinging Meat, Balls as Big as Pickle Jars and Enough Hair on His Ass to Weave an Indian Blanket, yet He and the majority of the World have been deceived by the exact Monolithic Global Conspiracy which JFK warned of in his famous speech before being murdered by the Satanic CIA. If it is Illumanati, belongs to a Secret Society, a member of the CFR or ever promoted a NWO it is an Evil Satanic Nazi. Wake up, world you got played again by Satanic Nazis posing as humans.

  • EPIC!!!

  • Excuse my ignorance, but what film is this? I've always loved Kenneth Branagh.

  • @2WheelEscapeArtist 10 days to war

  • @2WheelEscapeArtist I used to like Branagh to as I believed he was Irish. Now that I found out he's a Brit who just plays Irish charactors ie ' Billy' Col. Tim Collins' etc I just think he's a cunt.

  • @angels77100 Yeah, I'm not sure how many times he's played an Irish character. Maybe twice including this film? Sorry to hear his country of origin dissapoints you. How then do you feel about him playing an American character? His accent was quite amazing. He's still a fine actor in my book.

  • @angels77100 In case you're curious, Mr. Branagh was born in Belfast, but his family moved to Reading in England when he was nine to escape "the troubles". He affected an English accent to avoid bullying. There you go, I did the research you neglected to do before you so hastily called him a cunt.

  • @angels77100 Thank you for clearing that up. But did you know that Branagh is only 5'2 (wearing shoes) and he has to have a platform especially built for him when he's acting around other actors? Tom Cruise (Midget) upon spotting Branagh talking to Noel Edmonds (Another Midget) at a charity event in London, asked him who the big guy was.

  • @angels77100 Well...you're a cunt too.

  • @angels77100

He's from Northern Ireland, part of the UK. Didn't you attend school and learn anything? Speaking of cunts, I heard they call you "stinky", as in Stinky Cunt.

  • i just did a controlled assessment on this in my english GCSE

    brilliant speech

  • Our mission shouldn't have been coalition or to build a better Iraq. Our mission there should have been extermination of the enemy, period. We should have pursued one common goal to annihilate Saddam, his army, and anyone conducting or harboring terrorism. When the jobs finished we should leave the peaceful Iraqis to rebuild there own country in their own way. And if evil should raise its ugly head there again, we'll once again pound it into the dust from which it came.

  • @nomadfort

Clueless and brainwashed. Those directly responsible for the entire 911 Fraud and Iraq War are the same CIA that presented Operation Northwoods to JFK and then later murdered him. Our CIA and corrupt Government have combined to create an illusion even the News Media knows they are paid to manipulate the sheeple to believe the Illumanati bullshit.

  • Ehh its an ok speech i know its sacred land and all but we still got an enemy to fight so we should not be going less than 100% fighting force. I mean if you had positive ID on usama bin ladan in a moske were not allowed to pursue him or drop a bomb on it because it is a moske. I dont care il go in there anywhay and shot the fucker in the head. (sorry for the miss spelling)

  • what was the actual speech was there one if so please tell me where i can find it. just cause this one is not real does not mean that he never gave a speech.

  • maybe you should all stop being petty and appreciate the sacfrifices that any soldier makes from any nation, at the end of the day, they are laying down their lives for what they beleive in. I'm thankful for all the allied soldiers who time on time again go into battle without question to protect our lives and our nations. Well done Col Tim Collins, well done.

  • @EMPIRE01233 Ulster Irish or ROI Irish?

  • @EMPIRE01233 many muslims? hmmm name the figure! or are they too busy burning poppies?

  • God bless my fallen British cousins. You will not be forgotten!

    ... An American Soldier...

  • what movie is this from?

  • @EMPIRE01233 Bit of semantics, don't you think? Sorry if I made a mistake.

  • This...is...BULLSHIT.

  • bullshit movie

  • reality is fucked up, doesn't matter what they will say to you. ask veterans, of any war.

  • /watch?v=8RWzeK6JBVw

  • Americans treated them a lot worse than refugees, the same way they treated Native Americans.

  • point to the muslims in the ranks? oh thats right there isnt any.....

  • @ians2cool2 There are plenty.

  • Great cinamotography, it's as if this was STAGED.

  • @grahamwebb2000 yeh its not the actual speech u fucking moron. to my knowledge there was no cameras filming it, this is acted, the script being that which the journalist present at the actual speech recorded.

  • @englandforever Nice to see a bit of friendship between two countrymen on the same side. The only moron here is yourself. And yes, cameras were there, I remember seeing it on BBC News24. Maybe it wasn't shown in the bar.

  • @englandforever

"TO YOUR KNOWLEDGE"? Obviously, it's acted, you twat: it's Kenneth fucking Branagh (an actor). i'm not sure of your agenda, but Col Collins was (is) the last great military leader of our generation, and was treated appallingly by the MOD. so, Graham Webb: fuck off, fucknuts.

  • @grahamwebb2000 it says it's a recreation in the description... idiot.

  • @grahamwebb2000 Everyone else had already called you an idiot so i won't reiterate but the actor doing the speech in this is Kenneth Branagh for whom also did a far greater and infinitely more impressive speech in the movie Henry V. Although the speech in this particular video has more importance due to it's relevance today.

    Do a search for -:

    Henry V- Speech

  • Great speach , delivered brilliantly by Branagh - A modern St Crispin's delivery !

  • LOL, the transcribe audio is big joke.... I shouldn't have turned it on at all, just for couple words that i didn't get.

  • Politicians and politics fear honest soldiers, hell they fear honesty PERIOD

  • Why can't these sort of gentlemen be the people heading our country any more?

Surely there is a place for Tim Collins as leader of this nation?

  • Tim collins what a leader

  • those poswerfull nice words are only air ... look t reality .... this is only a propaganda

  • @aminnnnnnnful stop being a muppet, these words arent propoganda! its what Lt Col Collins said to his troops on the commencement of the War, words that he believed in and the ethos which he carried out his part of the campaign. The shit really didnt really hit the fan until a fair while after his regiment had left the theatre upon completion of the 'War'

  • @geo7863 the british soldier attacked to them ,.. and they are not blong there and they dont must be there

.. so what the are criminal , and punishment is must ,,,, why you think becuase you are white or you can speack in english you are the best?

i am iranain , i watch my enemies well , you are there becuase of your benefit not any thing s else ,

  • @aminnnnnnnful Whether the British oldiers should have been ther in the first instance is immaterial, we arent talking about the rights and wrongs of the War, we are talking about a speech that a Commanding Officer gave to his troops, a speech in which he told them to respect the Iraqis, to not make them refugees in their own land and to not kill them indescriminately. And that is what his battalion achieved, what occured long afterwards with the Iraq insurgency is a different subject

  • @aminnnnnnnful Whether I am English or speak English is immaterial, for your information I was a British soldier for 17 years, but I disagreed with the Invasion of Iraq in 2003 and with the way Iraq was 'administrated' after Saddam's fall from power. But that is irrelevant as it took place after Collins' Battalion left Iraq in 2003. I dont consider you my enemy just because you are Iranian yet you consider me an enemy because I am British that says a lot about you!

  • @aminnnnnnnful your asian and a muslim your far inferior. your stoneage thinking and respect for women makes you not only inferior but a fucking idiot.

  • @aminnnnnnnful I'm guessing you're not active duty? Because inspirational words from comrades, while thousands of miles away from family, might be enough inspiration to bring someone home safe,or to encourage that extra step, one more breath, one last push - and propaganda is not the thing that will encourage those actions from a soldier. Truth and Honesty is. Truth - "[It's my] intention to bring all of you home alive, but there may be those among us who will not see the end of this campaign."

  • @SPAMusubiHalau i am iranian ,, i was in special force for 2 years my dad was general in army so i know those stuff but the issue is you encourage who ?> right people or wrong people

british soldier attacked to their country and in politcal since there is some thing about right of goverment or people to do what ever they want in their land and it is not none of your busness or mine but you guys attacked them ,, kill them raped them ,, insult them ,
