@shazmeister2005 and to answer your implied question i wouldn't vote for independence as it is even if 1) i was old enough to vote and 2) there was a referendum. I say this because if we went independent it would be under the SNP; they are heavily socialist, know nothing about economics, and would make every mistake that Ireland made. We would end being another debt ridden euro-zone country seeing everything fall apart. Whilst independence did look like an escape, I now see it as a disaster.

In the euro you have no control over your own currency and the second anything goes badly your economy will be sidelined in favour of the larger German and French economy. If we join the euro we lose all economic hope. Likewise, we also lose part of our independence, as a country that doesn't control it'sown currency is subject to the control of external bodies. And it's not about our size, rather the mistakes the SNP will make

What have the English taken? Scotland has flourished since the Union of 1707 and the present economic settlement gives Scots an excellent deal in the Union with more spending per head than the English (something we would not get as an independent state). We are not ruled by foreigners - we're in a partnership of equals. On the contrary, Scottish politicians have continually been at the very top of British government.
Joel, "the foreigner rules" because 80-90% of MPs are from English constituencies. So laws coming from Westminster that affect Scotland are by and large approved by foreigners. Moreover, if the tories win the next general election but with only 1 or 2 MPs from Scotland... then the foreigner rules.

for reference that was posted on the day Scotland took control of its parliament from the unionists - SNP win May 2007. I listened to this song not long after finaly hearing the result - bubbiling like a bairn.

30 years old or more and still bang on. I grew up watching this stuff on the BBC and it still moves me . They'd ban this today in favour of some overpriced drivel fronted by Kirsty Wark.
Whoever put this up,thanks. Let's all help get it out there to the new generations, and to remind the older ones how we were duped by Labour back then. But now, together we all have another chance. Let's grasp it with both hands.

been a Corrie fan since 1965 when I worked the Limes (Spotlights) at the Caley Picture House Edinburgh at their Festival shows thanks for bringing back many happy memories....
