  • NAILED IT!

  • Just so beautiful

  • God, what beautiful harmony!

  • I did this song for a recital once playing the guitar. I did very good. I heard someone say after I was done, "there goes my solo."

  • Awesome video Michael, it gives me the chills!! I have been missing all of these great videos. This song would be a good one to make a video of. Thanks for the post.

    Michelle

  • @Moonlightwolfpup Thank you Michelle. You are always welcome.

  • @Moonlightwolfpup I felt so scared just a minute ago--this world has alot of people who only care about the things that pass away. LOVE is the only thing that matters! that lasts forever. John Denver's music just makes me not afraid anymore.

  • I think, when people die,and they come into the heaven, they hear John Denver singing this beautiful Song.

  • I have always believed this woman was the best harmony on this song-- who is she? I saw JD in concert in my hometown in June of '91, just a couple months after this, and met him on the golf course after the concert. He was as gracious as you would expect and shook my hand. Last concert I attended was June of '97. So glad I got that last chance...

  • @melindaross64 Thank you for your kind comment.

The lady singing backing vocals is believed to be Conrad (or 'Connie') Reeder, who sang with John through the 1980s and into the 1990s. You will see video of her singing with John at the Birmingham, England, concert rom 1986. This concert is included in the recent DVD boxset 'John Denver Around the World Live'.

Conrad's husband is Roger Nicholls, who was engineer on many of John's later albums as well as the recent 'Live in the USSR' CD.

  • awesome! thanks !

  • @yana72able My pleasure.

  • Talent like this does not survive today. His songs brought hope and tears.

  • @Thephanatic11 Thank you for your comment.

  • This was my Dad's favourite song. It's still mine 18 years after he's passed away

  • John had the rare quality of truly loving what he did. He was as touched by his talents as we the listeners were and it came across in all his music. I will see him again in Heaven..miss you John

  • Simply beautiful ! Thanks, Michael !!!!

  • @jdstillshines Yes, it is! Thank you!

  • My mom became paralyzed in the 80s, and one day she called me, close to tears, to play a song for me over the telephone, because it touched her so much. It was this song. Thank you, Michael.

  • @gracebalch My pleasure.Thank you for your comment.

  • This was on the Today show again. He had been interviewed by Joe Garigiola (I didn't spell the name right).

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you this is another one of my favourites of John.

  • The backup singer is definitely Conrad ("Connie") Reeder. She sng with John for many, many years. Her husband, Roger Nichols, engineered many of John's albums in the 80's and 90's. He also brought us the "Live in the USSR" album just a few years ago.

  • Can anyone tell me who the backup singer is in this video? She is excellent! A perfect blending of voices.

  • Sorry, I can't help. At one time I thought she might be Conrad Reeder. now, I'm not so sure. Perhaps someone else will be able to help.

  • I looked her up - she is in fact Conrad ("Connie") Reeder, and she collaborated with him on several other songs for which videos can be seen online.

  • Thank you for settling the issue for me. She was always my first guess, but i just couldn't be certain.

  • I very much enjoy this video... I sing this song to my grandchilren :-)

  • Thank you Michael.....Thank you.

  • Thank you, too!

  • Beautiful song. Beautiful duet. Thanks for this clip, Michael!

  • It's really good to hear John Denver now that I'm back in the Rockies again. Thanks for posting this rarely heard song.

  • Thank you!

  • so great to be able to see video of these lesser known songs that John wrote

that meant so much to him thanks for sharing

  • Thank you!

  • Actually...

the words were written by Joe Henry; the music (such a lovely waltz) was written by John Barlow Jarvis.

The song appears on Jarvis's 1988 cd,

    "Whatever Works" (MCAD-6263).

Check out his page - johnbarlowjarvis

Also - search YouTube for Scrumpy Cider, and Fathers and Sons, two more wonderful Jarvis tunes.

  • my favoite one song john denver

  • It's one of mine too! Glad you liked it!

    Thank you for your comment.
