I would love to be able to see this complete. I first knew this story as a play we put on in the 6th form. I designed it, and placed the emphasis heavily on creating a sense of unease and unreality, using film noir style lighting, a very art deco style for the lounge and underscored this, using avant garde music from the 30s for the entreacts and scene changes. It was such fun, I got to love the play, and never forgot it
I so wish someone would post this classic of a movie on youtube in its entirety. The copyright is most likely expired so it would not be against the law. It looks like a terrific movie!
for those who have had not the chance to see this, it's one of the greatest classic movies that you'll probably never see, i am 32 and was lucky enough to see on tcm at about 2 am, for john garfield's excerpt from summer under the stars this trailer does not do the film justice. Its truly a crime it has never been released in modern times, i havn't seen it since but can remember so vividly it's one of the most captivating b&w classic that no billion dollar budget could ever hope to reproduce

Is this the one where the couple who tried to commit suicide kept hearing a bell to go back, and the bad man got sent overboard?
