Tool have always been able to do one thing ive never seen any other band do. make a crowd stand totally still, in complete awe of what they are seeing.
Well he does use it in Disposition and Triad, which are played before and after this. So I guess he just didn't feel like taking of the guitar in between those songs.
I'm pretty sure, like as in 99,73 percent sure, that there's only 1 guitar playing in any version of Reflection.
I think it's pretty cool that there's a blured picture of the Cabala on the big screen. That gives you a hint to what the album, Lateralus, is all about. Amazing band, by the way. My favorite one for quite som time now.
Danny Carey's drum parts are not only difficult to learn to play, but you need a similar kit to his. I dont have nearly enough toms or cymbals to match his sound quality. It saddens me.
not really, he has 3 crashes, 2 chinas, a hi-hate, and a bunch of bells/chimes/splashes that he doesnt use that much...its the way he plays it is whats insane about it
Its not how hard or technical the song is to play. Its about how goddamn creative it is. Yeah its simple but there is about a handful of people on the planet that can sit down and come up with something like this as their own. Thats what makes art.
Well in this song he's just repeating one beat over and over again, and its an awesome beat dont get me wrong, but I imagine once i get that one beat down or someone else does, it would be pretty easy to play it over and over again. I agree danney carey is awesome but in this song his drumming isnt as advanced as most of Tool's other songs so it might be easier to learn
I love this video. My only beef is that the camera guy focused on Justin and the video boards during Adam's entire solo around the 7 minute mark. He didn't show Adam once. That just didn't really make any sense to me. Other than that nice job.
I almost shat myself when I found this. I was there, on Justin's side, up from the mixer board (Not great seats, but any seat is good at a Tool concert).
Cox Convention Center Downtown OKC. Notice how amazingly quiet and mesmerized we all were during the show. The music just rips through the arena without any audience interruptions. Correct me if I am wrong, but I swear I can hear the resonant echo of Maynard's voice and Adam's guitar bouncing off the walls, man! Freakin' beautiful!!!
Talk about a pulsating "Reflection." I found my audio recording of this show and in the recording you can hear Danny's drums and Adam's guitar circle around the convention center, hypnotizingly moving from one ear to the other around and around and around, the rhythmic deep bass + guitar completely blowing your head off like you were on the biggest orgasmic trip of your life!

Thanks a lot for the video, great quality! It's a shame though the camera didn't film Adam during the solo.

What Danny can do with the last fifty seconds of a song is amazing! Let alone ten minutes. Cant wait to see them at APW festival.

I think Maynard plays the overlaying heavy guitar part at 2:00 or so, and then again later in the song.

you are correct. Also He tunes His drums to suit drop b and drop c etc. which is what the band plays in.And he has mandala pads obviously.
damocles271 4 years ago

The first song on Undertow has to be in drop D as well its got a riff that is way too low to be in D.

He only has 4 toms. 8", 10", 14", 16". It's his cymbal setup that's crazy.

in the video if you closely pay attention maynard is singing the part we all think is a violin or tribal pipe flute

When I finally learn the drumming to this I imagine it would be really fun to play

man learning drumming to that won't be easy...i don't know much about drumming...but I know enough to know that Danny Carey is pretty awesome

whats maynard's guitar part in this song?
sudajmahi 4 years ago
he plays really bad harmony on one of those , w/e the name escapses at the moment, on a bass, and it completly ruins the solo.
BTW does anyone know what kind of instrument is used on the recording during the opening. (the violin sounding part)
thirdeye0 4 years ago
i think it is a violin...
AntarcticChuckBeaver 4 years ago
Yeah. Adam used to play violin, so that would make sense. Live, Maynard croons it.
moviescolin 4 years ago
That sound at the start is Adam. He plays a synth with his feet, at the same time as playing guitar!
merlord 4 years ago
... i just realised your talking about something different.... I think its one of those freaky african flute things on the recording.

its hard to find a TOOL video with good sound! thank you very much!
