I won a cruise through work and my wife & I are looking at a cruise on Freedom of the Seas. Thanks for uploading this...gives me an idea what to expect. (We've never been on a cruise before.) Although, I had to watch with some Dramamine...shaky camera work, but a good overall view of the ship and amenities.
i just got off this ship on sunday after i went to st thomas st martin and san juan and ive been on 5 royal caribbean cruises and 11 total and this is by far the greatest ship ive ever been on, highly recomend going on it for any cruisers out theree!
in all honesty, this is one of the , if not THE , nicest ships out there. Beautifully made with just about everything you could want in the 5th deck Promenade.
The service however, was awful.
Honestly, ive been on quite a few cruises myself, and Disney is by far the best. EVERYONE is friendly, even the people washing the dishes or doing laundry are happy to see you, and you can leave bragging about it.
If you must go on Freedom, make sure your waiter is Yusef.(spelling?)
Awesome Tour Roland, I'm booked on this in the spring, I can't wait. I've been a Carnival person my whole life, excited to expand my horizons. I have a job DJing here in the summer as well!
I used to work in the Carnival office here in the UK, only ever cruised with Costa under the Carnival umbrella though. RCL certainly impressed me and I can't wait to see Oasis when she launches next year!
Nice show, quite a walk you had. Question; considering it to be a day at sea, the ship looks remarkably NOT crowded given her capacity. Was it not sailing at full capacity or did they simply (finally) figure a way to manage passanger flows efficiently and place enough chairs. I saw plenty unoccupied seats. Is it maybe because many people have a private balcony? But inside it almost seems like a port day. Does the FotS disprove all the pessimists stories about crowed and queuing?
No the ship was full, maybe not all berths but all cabins were occupied. It never seemed busy but I think it is well designed and there is enough going on elsewhere for the open decks not to be overcrowded. The biggest queue we ever saw for the buffet was about 5 people and I don't think it's because people sit on their own balcony. Apologies for the delay in replying.
There were a lot of sales gimmics on this ship, I agree. I was there. It seemed like they were trying to sell you something everywhere you turned. I walked out the buffet & they were trying to get you to buy gold. I just ignored it and went on with my cruise. But, isn't a cruise supposed to be relaxing not a quick sell? lol. I figure they already got our money for the cabin, why more?? lol. Good job on the video.
Thanks. True, know what you mean about the gold! But I didn't find them pushy. At the end of the day a cruise line is a business and they want to make money. What annoys me is when they give you a drink as you walk into one of the deck parties and then hand you the bill for it!
First-class floating... Thanks for taking us along on this amazing tour, Roland... Everywhere you look there's something designed to separate passengers from their money. You would find me on one of those empty deck chairs with a good book...
Wow. That was a really nice tour through the boat. Even with the shaking it was still really enjoyable. I don't think I've ever seen so much of a cruise liner before.
This was just fascinating, watched it in hq, spectacular. In all my time I've never been on such a large ship. I've not been able to go over 10 minutes in the past, is it because you had a Director's account in 2006 before YouTube implemented "Account Types" such as Guru, etc.? That seems to be the consensus, but I've not tried yet! I was actually "denied" a director's account in 2006. Hope you're well :) - John
Thanks John. Yes I do have the original directors account, when it used to mean something. If you think that one is big try googling "oasis of the seas". They are building that at the moment and it's half as big again as Freedom and her sisters. The innovations are awe-inspiring.
The first golp of fresh air after your first morning there is amazing....its so peaceful and you can fall asleep right on the deck

Hi Andy, I suppose they have to find the money to pay the $5million a day running cost somehow!

LOL Five Titanics!!! I would love to see the fuel tanks on that one...

I would like to give you some stats on that but right now I would need to make them up. I'll google it now and come back with some shocking figures.

Not that going over 10 minutes is usually such a good idea unless you do a video such as this one. Thanks for the opportunity! Great video!
