  • I've just ordered some Supernaturals from Spence on your recommendation!! Can't wait for them Greeny tones!!!

  • I just installed these pickups in my guitar and they sound amazing! I have a question, I hope nothing is wrong with the installation...

Is it normal that when in middle position, say the bridge vol and neck vol is on 10. When I dial the neck volume down a bit to 9, the tone changes drastically, continue dialing neck volume down to 0 not so much happens compare the gigantic difference between dialing from 10 to 9. Is this normal? I haven't yet adjusted pickup heights by the way.

  • @ericohman not exactly sure...prob best to contact spence...could be your pots?

  • @johnbeloe probably a pot. i smacked the knob a few times and now it works, can't recreate the problem. at least that's a good thing. I guess I will have to replace it one day but I only play at home so as long as it works for me. i like your vibrato, what gauge do you prefer for those fast green vibratos?

  • @ericohman glad you figured it out! thanks...I use 10's but would prob be easier/better with 9's!

  • @johnbeloe I've used 10's for a long time but recently tried 9's but didn't really like the E, A, D-strings so I have settled on ernie balls hybrid slinky which is 9 gauge for the BGE and 10 for EAD. Really fitted my playing. Also I tried top wrapping a few times and it always seemed different for bending, topwrapped 10's felt kinda close to 9's in my opinion. I love the look of the topwrapping, maybe time to try top wrapped hybrid slinky :)

  • @ericohman meant GBE not BGE, I'm not using some funky tuning :D

  • @ericohman I'm having the same problem as you. the middle position is just too thin!

  • @emrek with both treble and neck on 10 i get a nice tone at around fret 0-12 but from around 14-20 it is a bit crazy, g minor pentatonic at fret 15 sounds almost like an octave pedal. when i have my bridge pickup at 10 and neck rolled of to around 9.5 i get the best tone in my opinion. answer from spence: "Eric, what's happening is that when you turn one pot down say by that 20% the other pickup is taking over to a great extent. That's normal."

  • That's a very strong and powerful tone you have there. I really like Peter Green's tone from all points in his career. This sounds like his Fleetwood Mac-era sound. I think that in Mayall's band he used the bridge pickup almost exclusively, and reverted to this in his post-Mac playing, but with everything drenched in heavy reverb. He was, and is, a great player - whatever the guitar!

  • @LBDarnocCZ I've had the WCR, WB 6707 PG and the Bare Knuckles. No comparison to the Sheds!

  • Sounds like Greeny tone to me!

  • Love the tone! Sounds fantastic, I'll see you in may if not before!

  • @StowBurst cheers stow...yeah looking fwd to it!

  • Sounds great! Spence winds an amazing pup. Really enjoy your vids!!!!

  • That's a beautiful top on that Les Paul!!!

  • Simply amazing!

Loved the tone, and mainly your playing. Great bends and vibrattos

  • Great sound, how many Kohms have this pickups?

  • @GuitarEd48 thanks...I haven;t measured them, but i believe the neck's about 7.5 k and bridge around 8k

  • @LBDarnocCZ don't' know much about wcr...spence from shed and tim from bareknuckle probably know more than anyone about greeny's pups though...both great, but tim uses alnico 2, despite knowing the originals to be alnico 4, as gary moore prefered them with the alnico 2s. I'd go with spence though...the quality of his materials is top notch

  • You got bangs and dents on your fingerboard? Nice.

  • @sportsportsport yeah just natural wear..previous owner played it pretty hard
