That's because it was done by a serious singer (still not sure who, though) instead of some J-popper. For the most part, J-pop is a lot more about image and youthful energy and cutness than singing ability. Konami's in-house singers are good...they *have* to be...and generally aren't too concerned about image.
Still, it's rare to see THIS much of a disparity. I mean, it's not like Bump of Chicken are musical slouches.

I know at least one person who's incredibly obsessed with this song for some reason. One of my favorites as well.
Anyone know who did the Gitadora cover? (I've seen the original, and The Scanty's voices are *much* less polished than this.)
