All i can ad is that If Anyone is REALLY serious about the environment and genuine then they have to look at all the options....yes ALL of them...do not discredit anything until looking into all the options thouraly
Nuclear power is the best soulution, its cost efficient and emits virtually no green house gases. Problem is people believe that nuclear energy produces radioactive wastes that can destroy the environment. People also believe that nuclear power plants emit cancer causing radiation. This is all false rumors started by anti-nuclear activists. The waste nuclear power plants generate is all contained and none of it is released into the environment.

Why not just use the money required for one Nuclear power plant to purchase 15 Turnkey high tech and highly automated thinfilm solar modue plant instead, with a yearly output of 160 MW per factory from Oerlikon.
So, with these 15 Oerlikon solar module factories you can produce solar modules with a total peak power of 36'000 MW in 15 years, which is actually 22.5 times more peak power than what a new EPR nuclear reactor delivers. And this is now and not the future.
Nuclear an option til you have disaster. Then its no option. Use natural that is here now and has no harmfull fall out litteraly if something does break. People realy need to think foreward instead of living in the past Its known that nuclear power stations has potential to cause major catastrophe why put harm in the way of the future when we are always being told to do every thing we can to be safe. build guns people get shot.
xu010 i agree with you but the waste is a problem and howard has talked about taking other countrys as well.
and it is only good from what i have heard for around 100 years. why spend billions on something that is going to die so quickly .sydneys harbour bridge will outlast the nuclear power plants .
All the nuclear phobia in Oz is kinda dumb - these plants work great now days. Oz is so desperate to sell its coal that it craps on nuclear everywhere.
