  • I wish I had a gun right now...I'd pull the trigger...

  • This is me everytime i hear about the Kardashians, Lindsay Lohan, Jersey Shore, American Idol, etc...

  • Back when he still was cool, love these movies

  • egh fa la la la la eip! thank you!

  • such a good actor. hollywood can just f**k off

  • @027220 'hollywood' has been shunning mel because of his personal life.

  • @VexedFilms He needs to get his life together.

  • @027220 hahahahahahahaha. don't we all

  • @VexedFilms And I do believe he's good.

  • @027220 better than shia le'boff

  • @VexedFilms I like them both.

  • UNEDITED?! thios has DEFINITELY been edited guys

  • Three people are seriously

    religious, or jealous of these

    talented men.

    The best combination of acting

and music ever. More than an

    action movie. Four versions

    are very moving. Thanks

    Eric Clapton.

  • I probably see this scene once a month...

  • An area 'no'body wants to relate to.

  • bu film varya bu film acaip good benim her zaman favorim olmuştur

  • I got like this one time. Started thinking about crap going on with my life and was ready to pull the trigger on my Glock. Even started taking really unnecessary risks and carried a "special" round with me to make sure it did the job, just like Gibson's character in the movie. But I never got hurt and managed to overcome my problems. Laugh at it now, but this movie brings back some scary memories.. Watch it sometimes just to stay in check.

  • this aint a suicide scene

  • If they remake this, whoever plays Martin Riggs has their work cut out for them.

  • If they remake this , the new movie will go down the drain the second they decide it. Whoever plays Martin Riggs is condemned to a total ridiculousness. No matter what the media will say.

  • @rtmf They'll probably make the bad guy an NRA member since all movies have to have some sort of pinko propaganda element these days.

  • @IggyHazard It shouldn't be remade. If it is, I won't see it.

  • @027220 What do you think of video game-based movies? I mean other than the crap churned out by Uwe Boll. He hates video games and the only reason he makes movies the way he does is to ridicule gamer culture while manipulating legalistic loopholes to swindle investors. He's a culture criminal.

I'd like to see a movie based on Rolling Thunder (and done right, of course). I hear tell that there's going to be a Bionic Commando movie. Watch them screw it up.

  • @IggyHazard I don't think about that much.

  • now, THAT is acting!

  • If I had to sit through a Bugs Bunny Christmas Special, I'd try to kill myself as well

  • This scene alone ensured that this particular film would be remembered as one of the all time great action films. A great story, compelling characters, actors with genuine affection and chemistry for each other. First rate. I can think of no other actor (as of 1987) who could have brought what he did to this scene. He hardly speaks (save a couple of words in trying to comfort himself). To convey this level of emotion with so few words, was Oscar level. It remains one of my favourite films.

  • @Faceman825 We will never ever see an awsome movie like the Lethal Weapon movies or like the Die Hard movies again, these were the best, and theyre from the 80s 90s

  • @GhostNappaVEVO Die Hard is also up there as an all time great. Again, a very human hero, great characters and the action in Die Hard was in a class of its own. I am hearing that they they are remaking Lethal Weapon, which is something that I am seriously not keen on at all. No-one can capture what Gibson and Glover brought to those roles. Just you watch, a couple of years after Willis' last Die Hard film, they will get remade too. Badly.

  • @Faceman825 I dont understand why the fuck they have to remake movies, these are good the way they are, Hollywood or whoever wants to remake movies seriously ran out of ideas I guess. I dont which is worse, if they remake or continue Lethal Weapon, maybe if Roger's kids became cops then there could be somekind of Lethal Weapon 5, but remaking is a horrible idea, then theres gonna be the old LW fans and the new LW fans raging at each other over which one is better

  • @GhostNappaVEVO Tell me about it. Rumour has it that a LW5 was written and Richard Donner even ran it passed Gibson. Funny you should mention Roger's kids as it would have had Roger's son, Nick, partnered with Riggs, and Glover would have been the Captain. Mel was offered 25 Mill, and turned it down as he was too busy directing. Can't see it happening now. A remake should not occur unless the film in question was a missed oppurtunity, LW was a classic and, in my eyes, cannot be improved upon.

  • @Faceman825 Agreed

  • Mel is one of the greatest actors ever. He was amazing in Lethal Weapon.

  • Oh thats Mel Gibson? Should have pulled the trigger bro

  • @TalonMercenary : Awwwww, a hater, eh?! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk, nyuk! ;])

  • @buzzclick500 LOL

  • I always seem to come back to this scene...Mel just blows me away.

  • @elvisobsessor no pun intended ;)

  • Eric Clapton's riff is really give me goosebumps..

  • gibson,eastwood and hanks..best actors ever

  • Oksana made him do it

  • what caliber is he using, im sure in one of the lethal weapon films he tells danny glover the caliber and danny stops him before he pulls the trigger

  • @helikos1 It's this one the first Lethal Weapon, he doesn't tell him the calibre though he only says he has a special bullet with a hollow point

  • @mg133737 oh ok thank you

  • @helikos1 It's a Beretta 92F in 9mm Parabellum. That particular gun was also used by Bruce Willis in Die Hard.

  • Great save by Bugs !

  • What an incredible scene. Yes, Mel should have had an OSCAR for this performance alone.

  • hard to watch a grown up man being in such agony & pain:( world class acting from Mel here ! the bugs bunny cheerful cartoon he is watching , just adding more to the scene.

  • Not very easy to watch. Quality acting

  • Vorstedt is fucking sob! I'm so glad that he got pancaked by Riggs in second movie!

  • @Bosman1745: However, Martin Riggs is still is not aware of the true circumstances of his wife's death in this movie and would not be until Part 2, and that death wish would be instead replaced by rage!

  • @DNchap1417

    I know.

  • Mel Gibson is a great actor

  • This is what made the first lethal weapon different from the rest, Riggs sucidial tendencies.

  • This scene is nothing but a product placement advert for the 9mm Beretta gun. Infact there are many scenes where its blatantly advertising the Beretta.

  • @chrysanthos66 yes, to me too U_U

  • I feel sorry for the single person who disliked this, because if you dislike this, then you will never truly understand the power of how moving cinema can be. fact.

  • @millwallwill maybe they didn't like the upload quality

  • @chrysanthos66 It might be because other people have handled his gun, so maybe he's wiping the gun off before he shoots himself just encase having other people's fingerprints on it makes his death look like a murder or forced suicide and implicates one of them? That the only thing I could think of. :)

  • whats the name of this song in 2:42???

  • Comment removed

  • @barry659 It's from the Lethal Weapon soundtrack and the tracks called: "Suicide Attempt", you can find it here on YouTube by typing: Riggs' Failed Suicide Attempt (Lethal Weapon 1)

  • @DonCrockett thank you very much

  • @DonCrockett sorry, isn't it called "meet martin riggs"?

  • @erickondio Yes the tune is called martin riggs.

  • Coming from someone who's been this close many a night, Mel was channeling 100% real emotion. No doubt about it.

  • Its amazing

  • he wants all jews to die, what an asswhole

  • @davidgubie you're an ass hole for saying that

  • Im gussing riggsy here dosnt pay for electricity or taxes, but instead, has to dispose of his own waste.

  • Saved by Bugs Bunny !

  • Mel Gibson is so sexy.....and still is!! I love you, Mel! :-)

  • I had a dream just like this scene. worst nightmare I ever had

  • One of the most powerful scenes ever.

  • @chrysanthos66 I think you are referring to someone else's comment. all I said was that Mel's acting is incredible.

  • Does anyone know where i can find the song that kicks in at at 2:41?

  • @KiprosPAO the song is called meet martin riggs

  • @killer70 thanks man, really appreciating you taking the time to reply. I've loved that shit since i was a kid and had no idea what it was called til now.

  • I don't know if you can help me. Do you know why the U.S Army went from the colt 45 to the Beretta 9mil? And which is the better gun in terms of stopping power, accuracy, and reliability. I like the fact the 9mil holds more rounds being just as accurate with both.

  • @gillysampson69 It switched due to its obligations with NATO. European countries used a smaller 9x19 mm parabellum bullet and so does the widely used HK MP5 SMG. The .45 ACP (Colt 1911) has much more stopping power, but is a larger bullet (less bullets in one clip of an average sized handgun). Think of being hit in the chest by a medicine ball (.45 ACP) vs being hit in the chest, at the same speed, as that of a baseball (9mm). The medicine ball will knock you down per single shot.

  • Notice that when he puts it to his head, he has his index finger blocking the hammer, he can pull on the trigger all he wants, it won't fire in double action if he has his finger there. He was probably told to do that by the armorer for safety purposes.

  • the power of bugs bunny saved the day

  • Exelent acting, gets me all the time even after 10+ yrs. Riggs is the man!!!!!

  • i can do this scene

  • He is an awesome actor

  • It's impossible to move on! I had a love in my life like no other. She was very sweet, loving, caring, tender and sentimental. She loved me so much that I swore on both our lives that I'd never hook up with another girl again in life and I still mean it. It's been nearly 9 long painful and agonizing years since she have passed away and I myself still have the urge to do myself in ever since she passed. A promise and a dream buried 6 feet under and can never get her back so move on???

  • @TonyShow82 What else can you do? You won't forget but you have to move forward

  • best ever

  • Hang on

  • Awesome performance, this scene is so powerful that it makes us all break down while watching this.

  • ha ha ha wot a pussy!

  • Been there, done that. Lived through it, moved on. ;])

  • @buzzclick500

    wher'd u geta gun from?

  • @PassionPromote : I tried the "pills & alcohol" route, then later, a straight razor--that's how I learned that I have no guts. ;])

  • @buzzclick500

Me too except "parcitimols and calpol" route, then later, a straight razor/diffrent types of blades and even one from a sissor. There alot more attempts on my part but Im afraid, I am too am a chicken shit coward

Why does riggs wanna off himself anyway?

  • @PassionPromote : The loss of a loved one is infinitely more painful than physical injury, or just the thought of not existing anymore. Then you start thinking, "What if I goof it up?" If you do, then you've REALLY got trouble. "Hey, what happened to Buzz?" "Uhh, he..well..ahem...he had a bad accident--yeah, that's it, he had an accident a while back." Ugh. ;])

  • @buzzclick500

The loss of a loved one is infinitely more painful than just the thought of not existing anymore?Dont get why people are upset when a loved one dies, why do you want them to stay in a world where they can endure infinate ammount of pain when they can be in heaven, jump off a cliff and not break a single bone? And can you explain the qiutes to me, Im not a hardcore lethal weapon fan

  • @PassionPromote : Well, I was going into my past when I wrote that, now, when someone close to me passes on, sometimes I just get a little envious. I don't really HATE life, but I've reached the age where I can take it or leave it. I'll leave here when the time is right, and I accept that. ;])

  • @PassionPromote : Being sad when when someone we love passes on comes from selfishness and negative ego, because ultimately and truthfully, each of us is on our own. We just have to say, "It's o.k.," and move on. A cold point of view? No, just accepting things for what they are.

  • @buzzclick500 What a miserable individual you are. I think your comment is absurd. Love is a human emotion. If somebody can't love others then they will lead very lonely lives indeed. As for your part about selfishness and negative ego, please.

  • @heathey2 : Individual, yes; miserable, hardly. ;])

  • @PassionPromote : I think the pain is actually worse when we get rejected, because it's like being killed(or injured)emotionally, in which case death would be welcome--or so we think.

  • @buzzclick500

    --or so we think?

  • The music is by Eric Clapton. The piece is called "Meet Martin Riggs".

  • *i can't stop crying =(

the theme music at 2:30 and mels acting is just so strong in this scene.

    the lethal weapon movies rule!!!

  • Anybody know the name of the guitar song they played when he cried?

  • @lion4roar Meet martin riggs

  • If you watch this scene & then the scene in Lethal Weapon 2 where Riggs guts Pieter Vorstedt for killing his wife Vicki directly afterwards, I don't know about anybody else but there is such a sense of hatred/adrenaline that bellows through me, like it were real almost... I don't often get that when watching movies (although I am an avid movie goer), such great film making & acting all round.

  • my mom named me after this movie.... my name is victoria lynne.... cant decide if its a good or bad thing? hahhaa

  • I heard that when they filmed this scene, mel had inserted a blank into the chamber before he put the gun into his mouth. The director wanted to call 'cut' during the scene but mel performed such an amazing act they kept it. Afterwards, Mel came out "hey you want me to do it again" like nothing had happened. He was inches from pulling the trigger and it could have still blown his head off.

The directors response was "hell no, just keep what we got" lol.. mels best actor in the world.

  • Man o man do I miss THIS Mel Gibson. What makes Lethal Weapon such a timeless film is that although there IS comedy intertwined throughout the movie, there is a very real human side to everything thats going on. I love how Riggs keeps going because of the job and although he's slightly nuts, he kicks ass at his job and makes the world a better place. The on screen chemistry between Gibson and Glover is impossible to duplicate in todays shitty knock offs of this film.

  • the first lethal weapon is clearly the best its much darker the the rest of them

  • understand ure pain burberry .. i lost my wife 18 moths ago .... think about it everyday ... my son keps me going ..

  • i bet this is what mel gibson really wanted to do since his audiotape came in

  • Clapton's guitar + Mel's acting really makes the scene even sadder

  • Booze, bad t.v. christmas, loaded gun, and loneliness. lethal combo.

  • This reminds me of Stallone's scene at the end of First Blood, they are both perfectly acted.

  • This scene where Riggs tries to do away with himself, was very touching.

  • tremendous actor, this scene is very touching, so real..i love Mel Gibson, as actor, nothing to say, he is great!!! love the music from this film, especially in this scene!!

  • shooting yourself, even with a shotgun, is a horrible idea for committing suicide. There's a good chance that you won't die and just end up in a bloody wheel chair for the rest of your life.

  • @PulpPractical I'm pretty sure you'll die if you blow your head off with a shotgun

  • @PulpPractical well you can try again.

  • It's all good Mel you are loved by many!

  • Mon cul est plein de merde

  • i acted this scene out loads of time after my girlfriend left me.....had the gun too, just wish i had the guts to do it........i came out the other side tho after 6 months of grief and im still here to tell the tale 18 years later....hardest time of my life

  • His wife killed by Pieter Vorstedt

  • This right here, is OSCAR acting. But of course hollywood overlooks action and comedies come awards time. But I would LOVE to see most oscar actors pull this scene off the way Mel did.

  • @Jetlihenchman you are so right, you don't see this anymore in action movies. Mutaugh and Riggs relationship was something special. It shows why he and Danny became actual friends.

  • @keem31 Wonder if they are still friends after his "pack of niggers" outburst

  • @OjideaguMusic I you're referring to Mel and Danny Glover - they actually are. That entire conversation was foraged by Oksana to promote her album and make it so she could get possession of their kid. Danny Glover isn't the only black friend Mel has too.

  • @Jetlihenchman That really sucks becuase I think this scene is one of the most well acted scene in the genre. In any other movie this would have recieved a ton of awards!

  • @Jetlihenchman Amen to that!!!, OSCAR acting by Mel! :)

  • @Jetlihenchman not to mention he is not jewish and jews have always controlled hollywood, now more than ever.

  • @Jetlihenchman it was actually this scene that got him hamlet.

  • Hi Chipmunkfanalways

So sorry to hear of the loss that you have endured. I read your comments on here and i felt very touched. I also have suffered three losses. My uncle, aunt and father

  • Comment removed

  • I feel like just like this, and i really want to do it this way, who cares anyway if am gone, i mean, who needs me, any way,i would like to get a desert eagle or some magnum pistol to do the job, this scene is powerful, but i dont know guys, if you want a sad suicidal clip go and watch scene of a woman, i like it even more.

  • and when I get my Ruger... thats how ill do it. With a hollow point...

  • Comment removed

  • I have felt that way since my father died on July 13 09 but my 4 year old Niece is the reason why I don't kill myself.. besides a friend of my twin brother killed himself and it ripped his family apart... :-(

  • I've felt that way for nearly 30 years. It's always been the thought of the children involved that has stopped me.

  • His acting is so incredible. The first time I saw this scene I was just speechless. Mel's in a league all of his own.

  • so intense. seems way too real. really built the bad ass character of riggs! love all the lethal weapons

  • Great acting! An Oscar-worthy perfomance.

  • damn the best film i've ever seen, good humour, ghetto problems, just the situations from the real life. i doubt there will be ever a movie which will be able to be compared with this 4 parts. I want to ask whats that guitar solo after hit himself with gun? starting at 2:42 pls need answer

  • Eric Clapton plays the guitar.

  • and michael kammen..............!

  • Dam christmam!

  • Brilliant acting. This particular scene won Gibson the title role in Hamlet (1990) after its director Franco zeffirelli saw it.

  • his acting in this scene is so good

  • First I'd like to say my heart goes out to both "SonofSatan18" and "burberrybedroom" for their losses, I hope you find peace. I lost 2 friends (neither of whom knew each other) to suicide, both of which used a shotgun to do it. I often wonder what was going through their minds and hearts in those last moments before they pulled the trigger, I wish I could have eased their pain before they got to that point.. = (

  • he is the greatest actor i've ever seen

  • Im 19, i had a girlfriend of 4 years who passed away about a year ago, so this scene gets me like everytime

  • feel ur pain mate :( had a girl for 3 years just got engaged then 4 months ago got killed by a drunk driver. like martin says he thinks of a reason not to kill himself everyday....my reason for not going out and killing that bastard is the fact she would want me to just drop it. may both our lovely girls R.I.P.

  • my sisters BF of 3 years got t-boned in a car with his buddies, all of em died exceept 1,and they were gonna get married next summer

  • @burberrybedroom man omg am sorry man

  • @burberrybedroom You'll see her again one day dude. : )

  • @burberrybedroom same here

  • @burberrybedroom im sorry to hear pal. and sorry to hear for the others in here.

  • @burberrybedroom my man...it never happen to me but from this scene and from what i hear you say... i can almost feel the pain, im really sorry. Lord knows id think the same. hope you keeping well

  • its the music of clapton and sting that makes this scene, the whole movie fall in place. The bluese riffs are amazing

  • Are u saying eric clapton did that track, do you know the name of it? is it on you tube?

  • Brando would've pulled the trigger.

  • one of the best movie scenes ever

  • good acting

  • Who would have tought that a tough, hard as nails guy like Riggs would actually cry?!

  • Don't ask me why but this scene makes me fancy the pants off him!

  • Maybe because...

... most women don't understand what it actually means when a guy tells you he loves you.

And that's not your fault, it's the fault of the main stream media & your political "officials"

  • I'm getting the hint that a chick has recently pissed you off.

  • Actually no. But if you asked me if post-modern feminism or mainstream attitude toward masculinty pisses me off all the time, I'd give youan emphatic yes.

  • Right on!

  • I can agree with that.
