This intro manages to work in just about every exciting spot and technical advance in Japan -- Mt. Fuji (which AB defaces by emerging from its peak, yah?), the Bullet Train, a famous "world's longest" (then) harbor bridge, etc., and AB himself with this theme of honesty, hard work, and social good. Heady stuff for a Japanese 6-7 y.o. Maybe it helped inspire them to their feats of math, science, and engineering in the '80s? Tetsuwan Atomu ganbatte!
It most likely did. Many scientists and astronauts in America were inspired by Star Trek ,the cell phone, tablets and personal computers came from the show alongside interest in space exploration.
I just wonder what will happen when the generation of the Power Rangers gets to age and all the things which will come from that because the Transformers generation inspired people to become a part of the army and fight for to protect freedom . The new anime generation from Pokemon up
will be more in tuned to save the environment and want to keep the natural world while with Avatar the Last Airbender, we're gonna get a ton of martial artists and Asian American/Native American actors surge in inspiration.let alone a new boom in American animation.
I used this during one of my Japanese Pop Culture presentations on the Japanese attitude towards robots.
It's kind of interesting to see some of the changes in technology portrayed between series (such as the narrow-body SSTs in the original to the subsonic widebodies in Shin Tetsuwan Atomu.)
This sometimes played late at night when I was almost still a little kid. Man, was I afraid of him. I didn't like robots at all. But now, Astro Boy is like my FAVORITE anime series. :3
I think there's something wrong with my computer, there's no color
