Some Jews are more religious than others. Some, like Chasidic Jews, don't cut the corners at all. Some, like Lubavitchers and modern orthodox Jews, only cut below the cheekbone. And then there are some Jews, less religious, who don't do it all. They wear they're hair like most non-jews.
C'mon. Why does every discussion of Judaism have to lead to Israel? Nobody goes up to every muslim and asks them "what do you think of Iran?" Not that the two are comparable, I'm just saying that there is so much more to Islam than radicalism and so much more to Judaism than Israel. Don't politicize religion.
it isn't "ultra orthodox" it's Judaism. The Torah commands us not to cut the corners of our hair, and the halacha [law] is we don't cut our sideburns above the cheek bone. Some Jews choose not to cut this part at all. Not all 'ultra' orthodox Jews have this custom, and there are even more modern orthodox Jews, such as those who follow Reb Shlomo Carlebach, who do.
so, it mostly orthodox people. When I say this, i mean very religious jews. Not all Jews have long hair. My parents are religious and we don't leae or hai like that.
Actually, it does say in the Mishnah (the oral law of Torah) that a Jew is not to cut the corners of their hair(the sideburns, or payos). To what extent this should be followed is open for debate, as I described before.
