Did you floor it? It moves slow. And the sound is distorted. Sorry. I like the Impalas. Had one 69 before in 1975. 350/350/12 hooker headers, cam, dual exh,4 barrel. It moved.
fuck i wish niggas from where i live in appreciated these cars they just consider it a piece of shit cuz they are all rich pussys well i be getting a two door 69 soon so im excited!!
Nice. I too have a `69 427/390hp 4spd Impala. Mine's a bench w/few opts; G80 (3.55), M21,F41, Tint, AM & PS........and needs a full resto, but low mi and #'s match......it's for sale:o). Go for a ride in my `67- not hard to find, YouTube 427 M22 and listen to it whine:o)
My car was just like this when my friend bought it, I got to drive it twice I believe then he parked it. You can check out the pics on my progress of the car back to original status minus the 4 speed muncie transmission.
what a car 427 4 speed its for real. I'm thinking the sound you hear at 3:01 thats called power something new cars dont have. It sounds like it has a set of wings and its not even an air plane. I'm thinking you need to drive a ride like this before you say anything. I no i have one.
Hear a little knocking @ 3:01. This used to be an annoying sound back in the day, but it's a cool sound to hear now old cars. Some newer gas powered cars and trucks still do it rarely. I think this is caused by pre ignition.
@AIRPLANEMAN1965 In any other high compression car, I would call it possible pre-ignition; but the way this hammers this one, I'll bet it's a wrist pin or a rod bearing getting ready to go - or - it could just mean it's out of oil because it was low before he took it on this romp and what little was in the pan is hangin up in the valve covers making the bottom end starve.
I had a 67 SS427 when I was a kid and I ran it hard against a lot of fast cars, but I respected it and it never failed me.
Never seen a manual transmission in a 1969 Chevy Impala. At this point automatics were standard from this point on. I think for all large cars. Cool rare car.
My compliments on your '69. What is the color scheme? Custom or Sport coupe? I am putting together a '69 Sport coupe 427 non SS car myself. It has the 335 HP 427 and turbo 400 auto. I have the clutch pedal assembly to make it a 4-speed bench seat car. This car will compliment my white '69 Custom and restored '70 Impala sport coupe. The '69-'70 big Chevy's are my all time favorite cars since I was a kid, I'm 36 now. Thanks for the inspiration.
i have a project im workin on right now. its a 1991 toyota pick up that has a V6 right now but i ripped out the V6 it came with and im shoppin for a 350 small block or a 286 small block. gonna bore it out to a 396. so it'l be a 1991 toyota pickup with a 396 smallblock v8 with a turbo 400.(hope it fits)ill try and make a video of it when im done.
if you're interested i do have a 350 bored out .30 over 383 stroker that came out of a 69 chevrolet. and along with a 700 trans. complete with edelbrock carburator. let me know if you're interested i can email you some pics. just a thought.
yeah well i'm lucky if i get 10 miles in this bad boy lol!!! thanks for looking boss! that nova must move with a 427 now bored out to 572! as light as those cars were then compared to an impala. must have some kick!
very much factory! i have documentation that this car was built with no a/c and no power steering. gives it just that more punch! its rated for 390 hp, but i bet it has more without the a/c and ps !

the last of the true SS.... just wondering how much you want for it???
73k5blazer 2 years ago
it's rated for 390 hp. but i think the car makers back then only rated them at that to let them sell. i'm sure it has alot more than that.
