It boggles my mind when I see this beautiful university in the middle of a rundown ghetto, horrible public school, borrow
I lived in the Bronx most my life and if you go to public school, there's no way in hell you are going to this university unless your from WestChester.
Do I see any Dominicans there no, do I see puetoricans no, do I see any blacks, Hispanics whatsoever,NO !!!!!
It's like putting a five-star hotel in the middle of a slum in Africa!
Do you have to take any religous classes while attending? Do the professors emphasize views on religion? That's sort of the only thing that worries me cause i just want to learn i don't want to pray or learn of catholisism, so if anyone can answer my question that would be great! thank you.
@sora41333 Why don't you want to learn about catholicism? You might end up loving the religion. Im not telling you to become a catholic because I cannot force you. But you should learn more about it and you might eventually love it. Plus even if Fordham does not force religion onto you. You are going to feel left out because most people that go there are practicing catholics and MAYBE they wont be tolerant of sinful behaviors or behaviors against their religion.
@myalouis911 I've been raised by a catholic mother and father, it's not like i am ignorant of it. I would go to church every sunday and my mom would tell me to love god and to lean on him when you are in need of help. The thing is, as i grew older, and thought for myself for once,i decided to stay away from it all. I just wanted to live freely and not on the terms of a book.I don't dislike Catholicism, my mother is a catholic, but i just don't want to learn something i have already been through
just got accepted yesterday. should i go here? my two other choices are Lehigh and Villanova but I live in Long Island so this is closer to home and in a familiar city.
@moe761 GPA is around a 3.4 - 3.5. My senior year grades have been HORRENDOUS, but it's for good, personal reasons that I hope the admissions staff will understand. I'll be having my guidance counselor sending a letter with my senior year transcripts explaining why my grades have gone down this year. I'm also bringing them back up to normal for 2nd quarter so I hope they'll let the 1st quarter slide a little bit.
@johnr1031 thanks man, yeah my senior grades have been horrible too. what are your excuses for them? im not trying to be nosy or anything, but i just need ideas to make some up for my letter of explanation.
I'm thinking about going to this school. I'm in highschool and we live upstate but also have a place in greenwich village in Manhattan. A main reason I'm thinking about going here is because I can live there and my parents are never there. But my first choice is NYU. If I do not make it into NYU, is it worth going to Fordham because I can live in Manhattan? Or should I go to another out of the city college with a nice surrounding area and live in a dorm?
@Aloneincrowd2: Hey, do you know if Fordham University still looks at SAT scores when you apply as a transfer to the School of Management? I'm thinking about attending Baruch College next year and keep up a high GPA.
If you come home on the D train late at night, the Ram Van is waiting outside the subway station to take you back to the gate. Buses run down Fordham Road too, and a swipe of your metrocard on the subway includes a free transfer onto any bus. Never a reason to be caught out in the middle of the night.
As far as the surrounding area, Arthur Ave runs straight up to campus and has some of the best Italian food in the city. the Bronx Zoo, and New York Botanical Garden are neighbors of Fordham.
It's a perfectly fine area, it's just a bit much for so many of the suburban kids to take. There's poverty and it's crowded and it's different than the wealthy parts of Manhattan. Still, this area of the Bronx has a ton of amazing stuff to offer.

@Aloneincrowd2: Sure Np.
But there's something that bothers me. If you live off campus, your chances of making close friends is not likely going to happen.

So which of the two or three apartments are used by fordham students near the school? I have to check it up.
Did you ask someone about the SAT scores yet?
