MY FAVOURITE ELVIS SONG BY FAR!!!! The only song that can even come close for me would have to be Love Me, but its Apples and Oranges!!! LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!!
I always liked Elvis's version of this song the best.He in his early years had that certain sound that his imitaters still can't copy.He was one package of great sounds.
@mcbrainlegend the sign of a truly handsome man is when another straight man say he is.you don't have to be gay to think Elvis was handsome,i'm surely not gay,and thought Elvis was tha best looking man that ever lived.it's just a fact. the man had it all.many men didn't like him out of jealously,i was there to see how they reacted to him.
Elvis is the greatest man in the world. If he have never lived, there might not be rock n roll today. He changed the world and my life. HE IS THE BEST SINGER THAT EVER LIVED! XD
Love this song & I love the version he also does on the 68 comeback special - If he was still with us, I'm sure his 2011 version would sound awesome!!! Elvis was not one in a million, he was a one off!!!!!
I got to see Elvis twice in concert before he died! The first time in 1973 or 74 (?) when he was still in his prime! Absolutely amazing! The second time was the next to last concert he ever did-had lost some of his polish but still had the voice!!!
Ohhhhhh how I wish I could of been alive to have seen him in person. I'm only eighteen years old, but he's my idol. By far the best entertainer in the history of the world.
Elvis was at his best when he was doing rockabilly, which unfortunately was early in his career.
I wish he could have stayed at Sun a little longer and done a couple more years of it!
His early stuff at RCA still had somewhat of a raw sound, such as Hearbreak Hotel, but then they started messing around with it to make him more likeable to a larger group of people and the rockabilly went bye bye!
I do admit that I also like some of the mellow stuff he did that is in the 1960's box set.
I agree with your opinions. Unfortunately Sam Phillips figured that he could replace Elvis with a horde of wannabes. Also, he needed the money that he got for the recording contract, and wanted to devote more energy to his other artists. The RCA talent scout (Steve Schoals?) that spent $30,000 on Elvis...well his ass was on the line, but his gamble paid off quite soon.
I will never forget Elvis. His magnetism, talent, charisma was incredible. I grew up listening to his music, dancing to his music and had the great experience of seeing him in concert in the 70's. It was a wonderful time to be alive.
Brilliant song! I have a Elvis book that i got before christmas and it look me like 2 days to read it it had like 450 pages! I was atticted to it, im going to read it again later lol x
This is the REAL LAWDY MISS CLAWDY, Last night I watched American Idol, and well, it was STRANGE lawdy miss clawdy (I'm not saying it's bad, since those contestants have great voice). This is the best version. Period
This is a great song but an American Idol contestant murdered this when he sang it during the Elvis night performance and I did'nt recognized it anymore as an Elvis song.
I was 10 when I first heard Elvis. The shock and excitement was unbelievable. There had been nothing like it before, in the UK at least. Just a pity he went downhill when he came out of the army. He was wild, he was raw, he was edgy, he was bad. And then he became flabby and soft.
@giornata Elvis was only fat his last 4 years of his life....and much of that can be attributed to the prescription pills his doctor had him addicted to....The King has more #1 Hits in the UK than any other artist.....
Yeah man it's really nice to hear a compliment about Elvis from a young person.I have been a musician since I heard him.I have been playing piano in Rock and Roll bands since the late "50's.He changed American culture forever!
This song had a great effect on me as a kid. Now I've only just realised why. The chord sequence is that used by Bach so many times to fantastic effect, but most important the raw energy of Elvis' singing is just unrepeatable. And he never managed it again in later years either.
I'm sure you are right a simple 12 bar blues, if I look at the chords used. If in C 2 then 2 bars C, 2 C7. 2 F, 2 Fm6 ((or close), 2 G, 2G7. Then look at Bach prelude 11 book1 - apart from the blue notes (which he did use other places) and the timing exactly the same sequence. Its the rise to the C7 that is so crucial I think. He used it at least 3 times in the 48. Nothing much is new in music.
Each of these acts could've carried a Woodstock sized concert by themselves but could you imagine all three on a stage at the same time? It gives you goosebumps to think about it. Maybe Second Life will get together with these three legends parent companies and put together a huge spectacular where all three are featured. It would be a site to behold for sure.
hands down the best.....damn straight!!!! I love his rockabilly stuff, don't care for the commercial elvis....even the hit songs....I would much rather listen to mystery train over and over!!!!! Written by Lloyd Price. Elvis recorded it February 3, 1956 at RCAs New York City studios. The single release did not chart. It was the B-side to Shake, Rattle and Roll. It is available on For Elvis Fans Only, Elvis Presley, Elvis 56, The King of Rock n Roll-The Complete 50s Masters, and Artist of the Century
I've such a huge admirer of this legendary song. I'm so very glad that Elvis decided to record this Lloyd Price hit. All of Elvis' music from the 1950's is pure magic. Elvis will always be #1. I loved this video a whole lot, 10 Stars as always Jackie.
I should have written that I'm such a huge admirer of this song. I apologize for the drastic typo. As you know, this was one of Elvis' most favorite Rock 'N' Roll songs. The first known time in the 1970's that Elvis sang this song live on stage was during the February 23, 1970 Closing Show. That live performance is only available on bootleg and the entire concert was recorded via soundboard source. Elvis also sang "It's Now Or Never" in that same concert.
Happy birthday Elvis! What a legend ♥ never forgotten!! :')

No singer has touched the keening pain in Elvis' rendition of Price's "Lawdy, Miss Clawdy." It's the voice and the phrasing that are genius.

@greaser1993 hahahaha, I think it's the other way round: MJ could sing, dance, write great music, invent dance steps.
Elvis and the Beatles (I love them by the way) couldn't do all these things together.
Let's say that Elvis and the beatles were some kind of Michelangelo, but Michael Jackson is Leonardo da Vinci (if you know what I mean) ;)
