Love the high tech 'door latch' at 1;52 and the way it's lit by picking up some bits of the crap littering the floor. Clean up the 'ol chicken house 'n light the stove all in one go. I thought Granny Clampett was gonna come on any minute with a pan of raccoon's gizzards. ROFL!
I know that stove is made out of a compressor tank, but it looks awfully like the stove that is used in Vatican City to announce the new Pope election which I saw in a photo :-D
I just found a video in which you can appreciate the similarity of your stove with the Vatican one. The YT address of the video is bbFc1vTszVE and you can see it clearly at 06:11
Just a suggestion: Put a slight pressure in the oil tank. Put the copper coil (that feeds the oil) into the burn chamber over a burner. After initial fire to get the oil in the tube really hot, it will run itself as long as pressure is kept high in the tank. In other words a very large PRIMUS STOVE. You'll get more heat and cleaner burning ;-)
Great - haven't done it myself. I wonder if it's possible to heat the oil so much that it will burn properly. In case I don't make it too clear what I mean, it's like in one of these: watch?v=2fYj0f0Lu04
I used a 50/50 mix of cooking oil and heating oil and tested it in an oil burner in my driveway, since my home was heated by natural gas. It worked, but I think a 40/60 mix would have been better to heat your house and definitely a preheater before the fuel gets to the burner to optimize the fuel flow rate.
Want to laugh? I used old engine oil in a fireplace one time and WOW did I get heat! It shattered the fireplace glass, but taught me not to use it!
I'd like to make one to supplement my home heat. I think I can adapt my furnace to accept veg oil without changing it's current function. My question is how hot does that oil burn? Is it much hotter than natural gas? Have you burned veg oil? I have heard it is hard to light. But a hybrid version of my heater can start it and let it supplement my heat or even replace the natural gas. Any suggestions would be helpful.
The oil alone (no k1, no wood ect) keeps stove at 300 deg depepnding on temp. and viscosity of oil w/ no oil smell but makes lots of suit. with hot wood coals, 40:1 mix of K1 temp goes to 700+ and overflames stove unless you adjust air and oil-flow. "You have to stand next to stove ready to act". The biggest problem is fire goes to 700+ then get turned down and goes to 450-ish becoming less effecient and dirtier (smell of oil in garage). any version shouldn't be used where you sleep.
It heats my garage and is very dangerous per co (Carbon Monoxide) and over-flaming. Yes, i build a small paper/wood fire that exceedes the flashpoint of the oil and to make sure draft is going properly through stove. The oil feed tube does get warm, thins out oil and gets it closer to flashpoint, i clean out the chimney 4 times per winter. Hot fires help and adding small amount of K2 to oil helps but let me stress that this is very dangerous and can not be left alone.
Dont wanna sound like at asshole man, but it would look more professional if you made it look nicer. I would try putting the cords away from sight so it looks cleaner, good idea, we need people working on ways to burn alternative fuels!
dueling banjos, great song, I have a question, that stove, does it have a baffle above the flame below the chimeny, also could you use wood instead of waste oil, also, is it a good producer of heat. I am interested in building a homemade woodstove any plans or blue prints would help thanks
no "flu". It is best to use wood and get fire as hot as you can before starting oil. a very small extra hot fire is the only safe way to burn at a lower temp. just get a small ball-valve and hook it up to a tank of oil with metal brake/fuel line going to stove above fire. any wood or coal stove will work. build chimney higher than roof of the building that it is heating and as straight as possible so that ash falls back down in stove.
paddle faster i hear banjos

My diesel car gets 53 mpg and when I switched to used cooking oil I got 50 mpg, so that means about 6% less BTU's difference using cooking oil.
