For your hermit crab you should have a hide sand or coco fiber or any other substrate that is in the hermit crab area at your local pet store u should also have a salt water and freshwater dish I'd reccomend getting smaller dishes your fresh water dish must be dechlorinated and make sure your salt water is actually FOR hermit crabs also get him a freind they are used to traveling in large groups and can die of depression if they don't have a buddy and last I would not reccomend painted shells t

You need to put sand in the hermit crab cage instead of gravel becouse it will not be able to bury (to molt or destress)  Im sure you have heard this and or changed by now but just in case I feel I need to tell you :)

@alicolquitt1 yeah thats what they say. nontoxic for humans, no crabs. i know what im talking about nimrod. for paint you need dyes, and thats un natural. plus all paint has a form of something mettalic in it, and ANYTHING metallic will kill a hermit crab if ingested, period

P.T. 2. around there habitat to keep it humid, if not then try a heat lamp. I am an animal expert and I know much about animals. I had a hermit crab that died when he was 18 years old, he lived his full life(maybe more). He was the size of my 2 hands. Well anyway good luck with your animals.

Never use rocks for hermit crabs, it rubs up on there legs and they can't burrow in it as easy. Try sand and a lot of it would help so they can burrow. They also like a lot of space and some shells laying around so when ever they are ready they can switch. Try to put the shells in with a glove so that human scent is not on it or else they will never go in to it because they will believe that a predator is around. They like a lot of shells so they can choose from them. Occasionally spray gently
