If that is what Motown thought, they were sadly mistaken. One of the reasons their sales dropped during the latter stages of their time at Motown (IMHO) was that they didn't successfully transition them from a bubblegum soul sound to a more adult one as they matured. During that time falsetto singing was so popular -- I think they just missed out, and so did we, not to mention the J-5. The Tempts were marketed with numerous lead singers; they should've done likewise with the J-5.

Listening to this makes me wonder why he never had a larger role in the J-5/Jacksons. I know he led a couple of songs (out of a thousand), like "Wondering Who" and "Wait," but he really can sing, and we were not afforded the chance to hear his talent. Too bad for us, and for him.
