No problem fella .were all the same at the end of the day .all human like ;) football brings people together .That must have been a great experience meetin all the irish villa players ..i only met paul mcgrath once at a pub in town .he was steamed haha nice bloke and what a player he was
No im a very proud irish man like i said i support my national team the republic of ireland which has nothing to do with britain ..it just so happens that the best league in the world in my opinion is in england and like lots other irish i follow that ...look how many irish players have played in england ..including ones that played for villa like paul mcgrath..staunton..townsend etc...i dont see what the problem is
Most of our national team players play in england ..i like to watch good football so i watch the english premier league ...its the best in the world.
It does not matter how many of us follow the irish local teams ,because its all to do with money ..you think if a few more start wearing local team jerseys ,that irish league will be on a par with the premiership ? LOL get a grip would ya . i support my national team the republic of ireland and i watch english premiership football simple as that
Nonsense ..many irish support villa because of the irish players that played for them in the early 90's ..you should welcome the many irish villa supporters that villa have ..we always create good atmosphere ..
The league of ireland is amateur and the premier league in england is the best in the world simple as that ..i support my national republic of ireland team but i support an english club i dont see anything wrong with that ..football brings people together .
Paul McGrath was hero aswell, but I don't support Villa. The fact you're a Bohs fan means my message wasn't directed at you, moreso the people in this country who just support British football.
Gavin, chill out dude. Aston Villa is based in Britain but its for everyone, whatever race or religion. I think you need to remember that some of the Irish emigrated to Britain and helped build the major British Cities, where there descendants live today, I am pretty sure football brings people together from different backgrounds, and the world needs unity from the people. Aston Villa FC welcomes diversity, we're not Rangers and Celtic trying to gain fans with old fashion beliefs and religions.
Can't tell if you're Irish or English, but in case you don't know the League in this country is on its knees due to the fact that there are tiny amounts of fans going to matches, I just hate to see Irish people travelling to Britain everyweek to get there football fix when our clubs our on their knees.
Fine if you have a Shamrock Rovers and Man Utd season ticket and attend nearly all of both teams games (I know someone who does this), that doesn't bother me.
The premiership is the best league in the world, and a lot of people travel to see games from all over the world.
I think the problem you have is Irish people going to britain to support a football team, nothing to do with the problems in the Irish football league because you seemed offended when you saw Villa's lion on the Irish flag at the end. If it was Celtic's clover you wouldn't have said anything IMO, just pure bigotry which needs to be removed from this world.
Alot of them people would come from countries that their national league isn't on it's knees, e.g. Sweden, plenty of Swedish go to Liverpool matches along with a few other EPL teams matches but also support their local team there population might be double ours but there attendences at football matches are massive compared to ours.
Don't like my national flag scarred by anything, but it a Villa Lion, a Celtic crest ,etc...
For the record I'm not a fan of Celtic in anyway shape or form.
Many people support villa because of the many irish players that played for them in the early 90's and many support because they are good team..
I dont see what the problem is .the premier league is the best in the world and thats what people want to see ..the league of ireland is a shambles and its amateur ..i support my irish national team and an english club i dont see what the problem is ,i think your living in the past and still holding a grudge against the english ..move on
Sad, ever here that we have a League of our own in Ireland gents, well support it. That Villa crest at the end with our national flag tarred by some British football team is a disgrace.
When i was 7 and started watching football Paul McGrath was my hero so I started supporting Villa and have been faithful to the club and help run the supporters club now. This is how most young people in Ireland get into football. Since I was 15 I also have been a regular at dalymount park and have gone to some of bohs europe away matches. Richard Dunne plays for Villa and Martin O'Neill manages them so there are still big Irish connections today.
See you in a few weeks for Bohemians game gents :-)
