So, this is when Green Day was cool. Before they sold out to become one of the biggest mainstream bands ever. In my listeners guide to music class at my highschool, my teacher asked of some of the genres of music people listen to, and somebody said punk. The teacher was like what is punk? And a kids like GREEN DAY!! Only punk band anyone knows any more except they stopped being punk after Dookie.

@HedgehogDude18 Without Green Day I'm pretty sure I never would have found out about punk and maybe mightn't have had such a huge interest in music, I've introduced a good few of my friends to Ramones,The Clash (even friends who don't like Green Day) and I found Dead Kennedys, Blatz etc. When I found GD I educated myself on their background and influences maybe you should have gone up to that person and told them about other bands. instead of just bitching about their ignorance, educate them? :)

@luckyaidie I think that's awesome. I actually started listening to pop punk bands such as Blink 182, Relient K, and early Fall Out Boy. Then I started digging deeper into what punk was and it's origins, and found many more bands. I started listening to some more punk&ska bands as well. I think it is good for some bands to get big so they can reach a larger audience, and if the fans are really into the music, they to will dig deeper and learn more about the type of music they enjoy.

@HedgehogDude18 they didnt sell out they actualy did the opposite. if they kept the same exact style because fans wanted them to that would be selling out. not to mention that insomniac was also punk. personaly i like every album by them. 21st centutry breakdown was my favorite and slappy hours was my second favorite
