Okay, I decided not to watch this because of that fart noise in the background. That sound just needs to go. Horowitz is interesting and he makes some good points. But thanks to the distraction in background, I couldn't even hear him.
Apparently the Communist Manifesto is a "hate document" because it has caused the deaths of millions of people. Why not just call the Bible a "hate document"? Plenty of blood has been spilt over that.
Reading is never a crime. If people have died over it, that's even more reason to read it.
Lol seriously. The document itself didn't kill people anyway, not even the ideas killed people - people killed people and none of them ascribed strictly to Marxism.. not like it would have turned out much better if they had, but still...
Yeah, lets bitch about how everyone else bitches about racial inequality...because there is no such thing...its a conspiracy by those marxist, liberal nutcases...lol, America rocks!
I mean, I doubt any meritocracy could function without some form of discrimination--whether that discrimination is rational or irrational is another thing.
I was at this lecture. Horowitz was so angry because it became evident during the course of the debate that his "doctrine" is rife with contradiction. It was funny to see him get so mad... we all laughed and laughed. The fact that people actually take his "ideas" seriously is dangerous.
Professor Peter Steinberger, "the other guy", decided to take the time to read Horowitz's collected works. Using D. Horowitz's own words, which advocate the use of lies in order to advance an agenda, to discredit his present tirade, is an appropriate and responsible application of ACADEMIC FREEDOM.
McCutchen's comment is a stretch. What Steinberger did was to take one Horowitz publication on the art of political advocacy [which he didn't advocate "lies", but telling the truth in an effective way. Horowitz's "Radical Son" is an enlightening look at the "new left" which turns out to be pretty much the same as the old left. He is the premiere explainer of leftist psychology in America today. Leftists are always searching for a unobtainable utopia--impossible because it violates human nature.
A lot of it doesn't make any sense. He says that if there are racial hierarchies in America, then immigrants must be stupid to come here. This ignores the obvious fact that racism is also rampant in other countries. Sure Oprah is successful, but there's only one Oprah. She doesn't represent all black people.
Maybe I should make myself clearer. I am not dismissing what Horowitz says as racist or a , as you say, "hate-crime." Thought, some of his language and declarations are rather blunt.
What Horowitz is doing is using specific and examples (Operah etc.) to prove a very wide, and untrue statement: that there are not inherent socio-economic hierarchies in America.
He is a spin doctor, and he knows how to come to false conclusions through skilled oration (though I'm sure this is not his finest). Furthermore, the reason he is talking in the first place is to promote his idea of "academic equality." This clip shows that he is not only bias but can take extraneous facts and use them for his own agenda.
The point I want to make is that any political program by this man, especially one toting "equality," should not be trusted and is inherently suspect.
its okay though, the more you leftists stifle debate by dismissing it as a racist hate-crime, the more vulnerable the future leftists will be to reasonable debate and unable to defend themselves against even the simplest arguments. This will eventually lead to violence on your part as more and more people will be turned away from the left. Then you will join those islamic terrorists that you love so much.
You dismiss his points about racism, immigration and even oprah but you dont give any counter-points. I dont expect anything different though, you've probably never heard a reasonable response to your leftist propaganda, just the usual racist lunacy that your taught is the counter-point.
You obviously did based on your little message in "AboutThisVideo". You dismiss his points about rasism, immigration and even oprah, but you dont really counter. But what more do you expect, you probably never even heard anyone disagree with that leftist non-sense before so how can you defend when he makes simple but good points.

Are you sure it wasn't because the other guy called him a "political pornographer"?
You thug. When you are so sure you are right you do so much wrong. Instead of laughing try listening.

where was some of the contradiction in that 6 minute snippet?
He said that the only person on the world who can make a book a best seller with a simple command was a Black woman.
He said that Blacks come here to escape oppression, even from Black-run countries (Haiti)
He said that the Left is intent on hating Whites and diminishing the achievements of Whites.
Where is he wrong?
