  • this movie scarred me from midgets forever, thats right scarred.

  • Pam Grier at :40

  • lol. we just read this in english

  • the boys in the story are 13 going on 14 these boys like 8

  • i remember my dad making me watch this a 7year old.... almost as scary as resident evil was for me at that age.

  • I saw this movie on the Disney channel when I was very young and it was terrifying for an 8 year old.

  • Google stop bringing me to this shit and get me to the Act and scene the line is in in Macbeth

  • Alan Rickman as Mr. Dark! Also, yes, spitting image of Justin Beiber at 1.44!

  • Whoops...didn't see there was already a comment about it!

  • At 1:44

    JUSTIN BIEBER.

  • This is the movie that gave me nightmares as a child...It scared that hell out of me!

  • wtf

  • @pinkfridaygurl98 *sigh* use a search engine, you stupid girl.

  • Do you know if there is a soundtrack with the songs used in the trailer??

  • @GabrielNYC1975 where??! i have the motion picture soundtrack but the trailor music is not on it!

  • @mikakhramov nah i was asking him lol

  • Governor Swan???

  • OMG I love the dark and scary disney fims like oz and woods know I love this also it a grate halloween movie 4 young adults or tween. I trying 2 get n sleepover 2gether with my chuch middel school youth group. More then likely it will be n oct so the movie will work

  • @c64b Have u seen this? If so, is it scary? Also is it any good?

  • @ScottsIrishCrow ---- It's good! I used to love watching it. For Disney putting out a movie based on Bradbury is insane. Creepy and suspenseful. Dated, but who cares? Classic, like Watcher In The Woods!

  • @flood1980 I watched the movie a few weeks ago, but i have never heard of Bradbury or watcher in the woods?

I do like this movie and would of liked it if my brother would of watched with me, but he didn't. Is watcher in the woods a kid movie or R cause i cant watch R?

  • @flood1980 I watched the movie a few weeks ago, but i have never heard of Bradbury or watcher in the woods?

I do like this movie and would of liked it if my brother would of watched with me, but he didn't. Is watcher in the woods a kid movie or R cause i cant watch R?

  • @ScottsIrishCrow Watcher in the Woods is a Disney movie, rated PG.

  • What I don't get is that he squeezes his right hand at 1:58, how come the other boy gets hurt?

  • @ScottsIrishCrow The other boy didn't get hurt, the blood from the man's hand dripped onto the boy's head.

  • I remember forced to read the book in 7th grade, and I fucking hated it. Reflecting on it though, the story is actually quite cool and "wicked" indeed.

  • Whats kind of funny is that a lot of ICP music (if you can call it music) is based on this and other works by Bradbuary.

  • The two people who disliked are Troglodytes.

  • there's always a catch when you get what you desire

  • "my name is Mr Darlek?" .......... O.o

  • One of the few movies that really paid tribute to the way Ray Bradbury wrote it. Great novel, great film.

  • well, i have to admit, this movie always strikes a chord in me whenever i see it... it really represents a large part of mans inner darkness... like the mr. hyde of dr. jekyll... still ... freakin good movie, and that ray bradbury wrote the book is cool too.

  • dude I remember this movie! Ive been looking for it for ever! I used to watch this as a kid and it gave me a really creepy vibe and now I know why, it was one of ray bradbury's books!

  • Holy shit! This movie had more of an impact on me than any other movie in my 33 years, it scared the living day lights out of me as a kid and I still think about it often. I wonder will it be so scary today?

  • Wow. I forgot this movie existed! I was traumatized as a child after seeing this movie. I'd like to watch it again to see if its still scary. All I remember is spiders under the bed covers, then on the door handle (!!!), some scary woman in black, and the blood dripping on that kids face.

  • I would love to see them make the book into a good movie and not this hack job. This is my favorite book ever and for them to over look little details is insulting.

  • @Refusearefuckingdead You've obviously never actually seen the film.

  • Who's the blonde actress? She's fucking hot!

  • I'd love to see Tim Burton remake this with Johnny Depp as Mr.Dark.

  • @Bizarronumber4 That is possibly one of the worst ideas ever.

  • @Bizarronumber4 god.. enough of johnny depp.

  • @Bizarronumber4 Somehow, I think Christopher Lee (if he's still alive by then, should the remake ever happen) would probably work better in the role.

  • @Bizarronumber4 That would be awesome. I said no movie could match Bradbury's book, but those two would stil do a killer job. Depp a Dark. For sure.

  • i dont get this book at all. its so freaking confusing

  • i hated the book it did not creep the shit out of me i only picked it cuz we were doing a book project and i thought this book would have creepy clowns and stuff. way too much figurative language. and it made me sleepy

  • miss when disney made genuinely good dark films like this and Return To Oz

  • This looks like an aweosme movie! I loved the book, but I had no idea this existed until recently! Once again, it has been proven that a movie does not need to have super expensively exaggerated special effetcs in order to be great. The acting is amazing, if you ask me, and the story in itself more than makes up for the lack of computer-made effects.

  • How nostalgic. This movie scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

  • Shoot, I'm reading this now, and I never imagined Will with glasses! But I really want to see this movie now! Mr. Dark looks super creepy...

    Watch this in 1911 mode!

  • My favorite movie!!!!! I love Jonathan Pryce and Ray Bradbury!!! There is nothing like a classic haunting story to remind us of the great things we have now!

  • 1.44 Justin Beiber?

  • this was a fantastic film, and an even better more fantastic book. i would love to remake well not remake but make another rendition of the film/book.

  • i love this book i can understand it and it is in a way kinda creepy but im gonna see the movie soon

  • Autumn people 4 life!

  • I loved this book; I really need to see this movie. I can't believe it's Disney. lol

  • it's been a while since i've seen this flick, yeah it sure creeped me out a bit but is ure wouldn't mind seeing this flick over again but who also stars in other than jason robbards?

  • What music plays from 1:26 to 2:03?

  • I'm reading this book for class and it makes no sense! But it is a good book.

  • @saminmn Same here, it is a little hard to follow

  • amazing film!

  • @MEGAIRONMETALHEAD Oh shut up and go watch the new justin bieber movie, or twlight 4. You clearly don't know a good movie even if if hit you on the head.

  • @justicegang hahaha r u fucking kidding me? justin beiber? twilight? hahaha this movie does suck, u want a good movie? north by northwest

  • @MEGAIRONMETALHEAD yawn, what a dumbass, people come to watch this trailer to reminince about a movie that scared them as a child and somehow you get all preachy and start spouting off that they should be watching Hitchcock instead. how lame are you dude? be a little less douchie and see if your angry little life gets better

    cheers

  • @laceyschism i got a reason to suggest hitchcock instead of this pile of shit, this movie isnt even a bit scary, and the reason why kids such as urself who havent grown up yet like this movie is because u dont no better

  • @MEGAIRONMETALHEAD hey dumb fuck, do you know the age people tend to first see this is like umm i dunno, like ten, eleven, when its scary for them, why the fuck would my younger 11 year old self want to watch fucking north by northwest. I get it, its a good movie, but as far as "movies that scared us as a child" North by Northwest is never going to fall into that category you dumb ass poser! take your shit elsewhere douch

    cheers

  • @laceyschism ok where the fuck did poser some from u stupid bitch, and im not saying that its not gonna scare little kids im just saying its a shitty movie, ill admit the setting and premise is good but it doesnt go anywhere good and its over the top ridiculous, the acting is laughable and so are the characters, and as far as movies that would scare little kids and still frighten the adults and remain a good entertaining film would be a movie like pan's labyrinth, so suck on that u moronic fuck!

  • @MEGAIRONMETALHEAD ah, i see "poser" hits a nerve. thats something youve been called before huh? ah well, sorry. but i mean poser by the fact that you are coming to SOMEONE elses scary childhood movie and suggesting Hitchcock i mean what the fuck? we get it, you like films, but bashing older films that people found scary at the time is lame. and Del Toro's film is rated R you dumb fuck, what kind of 10/11 year old is going to watch pan's? see again your naming a good movie just to be a douche

  • @laceyschism no shit for brains, and wat the fuck is rong with suggesting hitchcock, and calling this film scary is fucking stupid, its not scary, its over the top ridiculous, and i no pan's labyrinth is rated r but that aint gonna stop kids from watching it, and wats rong with naming good movies u shit licking, manure smelling, dog raping, horse dick sucking, piece of shit u!

  • @MEGAIRONMETALHEAD , yikes, you ran out of anything interesting to say very quickly huh? ah well, thanks for coming out. why dont you take your poser ass somewhere else and try and feel superior there LOL. And as you said, ya i guess kids can watch rated R shit, but i dont know too many really young kids who do LOL, but why dont u swear some more and make yourself feel all big and strong on the interwebs :P

    later babe

  • @laceyschism oh shut the fuck up, i dont give two shits wat u say

  • Wait, is that James Coburn narrating the trailer? :D

  • hahaha "i never take risks" *lights cigar* im gunna be watchin this movie for the first time on friday =D

  • i was watching this as a halloween movie in class all english long :) its was REALLY fun!!

  • love this book!

  • Did Disney make this movie? Looks very good and creepy. The thing he did with his hands and the children at 1:47 was awesome. Very attractive title too.

  • @Winduct Yes indeed, Disney did make this movie; considering what type of films they were makeing at that time, this was a HUGE departure...and one that was welcomed by my 15-year old self, because it IS very good..and very creepy!!

  • Trailer does it no justice. This movie totally scared me as a child!

  • i had no idea this was by Ray Bradbury. I watched him today on the early years Ray Harryhausen.

  • The Book by Ray Bradbury is probably one of the best fantasy fiction stories of all time I really love this Book it's my favourite, read the first page i get shivers down my spine just by reading it Bradbury is a master of suspense and can create such an atmosphere witha few sentances.

  • I love this movie <3

  • This still holds up well to this day ever since 1983 when i was 16 when this movie came out

  • 0:37 I SWEAR THAT'S CHUCK NORRIS

  • @1729439568 LMAO

  • whos the one armed guy? a movie add-in

  • @InfernalxOFxBlaze The actor's name is James Stacey.

  • @UncleCharlieOakley no i mean like story wise who is that? a movie add-in or am i forgetting a part of the book

  • This is probably a good example of something that was too ahead of this time...especially when there WAS CGI used in it originally, but it wasn't perfected in the early '80s...and how incredibly dark it is, although maybe Disney's Double Dares You brand could do a remake, and have Jonathan Pryce as the father in it...maybe Michael Sheen as the sinister ringmaster...

  • this gave me nightmares haha , but GREAT movie.

  • Wow! Old movies used to have "substance"!

  • This is a fantastic story. Unfortunately, the movie displays some really, really bad acting and writing. The best thing about the film is Jonathan Pryce, "Mr. Dark". He's superb in this part. I've love to see it remade by someone like Tim Burton.

  • @lcowles You're talking about Tim "ED WOOD" Burton, and not Tim "ALICE IN WONDERLAND" Burton, right?

  • I saw this movie for end of the school celebration and scared the crap out of us!

    commentary helps ALOT.

  • HOLY GOOD GOD is this movie freaky. I saw it my freshman year in highschool and one of the girls was having a crying fit and had to leave the room. I found myself screaming at the villain because he scared me and pissed me off at the same time. And it's by Disney! D-I-S-N-E-Y! For those that think that the mouse only makes family friendly works, you are in for a rude awakening.

  • Disney had a handful of really dark films in the early-mid 80's. "Something Wicked This Way Comes"......."Return to Oz"......."Watcher in the Woods"........"The Black Cauldron".....

While one or two of them were far from perfect, they were a lot more creative and entertaining than movies like "High School Musical" in my opinion.

  • @ShootAndSpin Once again a fucking idiot confuses Disney with Disney Channel. instead of comparing this to a made for TV movie, why not compare it to a Disney film or a film made by a production company that Disney owns?

  • I just read the book. I hate it dont get the concept.

  • i just finished reading the book, and well it confused me.. and i did not know they had a movie on this book.. and mr dark is exactly how i imagined him, except mine had a bit of a long hair..

but i would want to watch this movie because before, the movies thay had based on books were actually like the book, like they didnt change anything

  • the book was the single weirdest thing i've ever read

  • I didn't know they made a movie!? I am reading this as a book report in class. This movie looks good!

  • @NickRewind1314

This trailer does not do the film justice. This is probably the darkest Disney film I've seen. Creepy flick.

  • @ar4216 Wait! It's a Disney movie?

  • @NickRewind1314

    HaHa! Yeah.

  • @NickRewind1314 yeah its disney film

  • that is exactly how i pictured mr dark! black suit and top hat with dark hair

  • Oh my God! I absolutely adored SWTWC. I was a bit skeptical when I heard there was a movie, but now after seeing this, it looks AMAZING. <3

    I love Ray Bradbury.

  • Just finished the book for a school book review, and though I didnt like it as much as Fahrenheit 451 or Martian Chronicles, it was still pretty good.

  • Great movie saw when I was a kid.

  • Well known actor Royal Dano, who did Lincolns voice is in this film. James Stacy has a comeback role after his tragic motorcycle accident where he lost an arm and leg. Too bad this film was not marketed better at the time.

  • this is one of my fave books :). i never saw the movie though

  • jonathan pryce is sexy

  • I saw this film years ago, when I was a kid. Loved it. Spooky.

  • When I die....those wind swept streets with a innocence blowing through the houses.....that be my afterlife!

  • the book is great and the movie is great too! Ray bradbury wrote the screenplay... robards is great and jonathan pryce is the perfect mr dark!

  • the book is much much better

  • hmm just looking at the trailer it doesnt really do anything for mw. Read the book and loved it. Somehow this doesnt feel likes its going to add up, but then what book adapted to a movie really does justice.

  • ew i imagined jim and will so different they look like they're like 7 in this movie :/

  • no. the book is always better than the movie. use your imagination.

  • I agree, the movie left alot out (Think of how neat the climax would've been if they had the whole 'shoot the witch' act!)

  • i fucking love the book!!

  • @KeyBladeMaster1920 i'm reading it for class! i love it, too! we're gonna watch the movie, too! it's gonna be so fun!

  • @KeyBladeMaster1920 i do, 2!

  • WowWee!!! Pam Grier is this movie. Hiho silver! On my way to rent it!!!

  • reading teh book xD

  • good trailer sort of reminds me of watcher in the woods or a steven king horror movie but for kids!

  • Ray has the butter for the bread ........the film reminds me of a childhood that I lost years ago.......a dark night and a bright morn......!

  • This movie is awesome. I'm in the film club at school...tonight we are having a halloween party and I'm going as Mr. Dark to get people to hear more about this movie.

  • were reading that book in class right now

  • Best Movie Ever

  • I am a pro atmospheric horror fan although not all gore films are crap. Halloween is my absolute fave, I've yet to see this film. Another example would The Changling (1980) George C. Scott's best horror movie performance before Exorcist III

  • "We are the hungry ones. Your torments call out to us like dogs in the night. We feed...and feed well."

These new horror movie directors need to see a movie like this. It might teach them about atmosphere vs. gore, sometimes the unseen is worse.

  • im reading the book 4 this in skool ^_^

  • me too :-)

  • As a kid who grew up with this movie (born in 1981) this movie used to scare the shit out of me. This trailer does not do it justice, go rent it/buy it, I think you will be quite surprised. And Mr. Dark is hella creepy just how he is. This movie used to give me nightmares, and I am sure it's still rather scary to this day.

  • I too was born in 1981 and remember it scarying the shit out of me too!! this trailer isnt scary at all

  • Same here... born in 1975 and this movie was WAY scarier than the trailer lets on. It was made back when horror and psychological thrillers were based on really good books that would scare the shit out of you in their own right.

It's not one of those zombie/vampire campy slapstick-ish flicks, it really plays on all those primordial psychological fears and trepidations that nearly everyone harbors on some level, young and old.

    A truly underrated flick.

  • I was born in 1974 and was 9 and it scared the crap out of me, I can only imagine how you felt only being 2 years old.

  • @celicaboy1981 yeahh! the creepy part was when he sqeezed his hand, and blood came out! creeppyyyy.

  • This movie is deeply flawed but the good bits are FUCKING COOL

  • It's a good movie but the book is better and the boys are not so younger !

  • Scary, scary movie for a Disney film =S

  • It's actually the only horror movie Disney ever released so I've heard. If only they did more... =/

  • Nope they also made "Watcher in the Woods" another great horror movie by Disney.

  • Wow, really? I've got to check this out. Were there other ones (besides haunted mansion)?

  • just rent the movies on netflix

  • watcher in the woods i saw that movie in the 7th grade in 1997 when i was 13 in the lecture hall which had two tv sets and a vcr in the lecture hall!

  • the music in the backround was the original score before Disney saw fit to change it .... Ray himself suggested the change so I'm not complaining but it still makes you wonder how the original music would have changed the mood of the story .... was it too light or was it too heavy? O_o ...

  • the book is brilliant - scary as shit and grungy. this movie looks sterile. mr. dark should look like voldemort covered with tattoos and the boys are older in the book. chattenbox is right - tim burton should make this.

  • It looks like a cool movie except that Will and Jimmy are not 8!

  • They should remake this movie. And i have a feeling if they did. Tim Burton would be directing it. and i wouldnt be suprised if johny depp was in it

  • God that would be awesome.

  • yeah...although I don't think it would actually end up being GOOD

  • The trailer is...ok. I'm sure that if it was done better, the movie would have made more money.

  • worst trailer ever. some cool stuff about that movie but seriously how much money did disney lose on that sh#$

  • Reality is the ultimate skull fuck.....Ray just told it the way it is.......it stil stands true today...........You ever play the numbers!

  • i hated this movie.

it always messed with my head.

  • book wayyyyy better

  • You know that title didn't sounded right to me. It's sounds more like " Something Wicked is coming to town" to me. Why can people up load the parts of this old movie here?

  • donde puedo adquirir esta esta pelicula en Mexico D.F ? o alguien seria tan amable de subirla... gracias

  • It's listed at Amazon, and there may be a few on Ebay. It was reissued on DVD a couple of years ago.
