hey i was just curious when you compose you use the score notation or the bar one ,im new to this program and im trying to understand how it works pls someone who knows the program help me with some message tips.
@BraunerSenf You can do that with keyswitch patches (there you can switch articulations bye hitting specific notes in the C0 or C1 octave).
When you dont have ks patches, you have to load the same patch in a different articulation you want, and continue your melody in this section when you want your other articulation to come in...
Ya, I've heard of these keyswitches and I also saw them in EWQLSO, but there you can only choose keyswitch (between certain keys) as an whole instrument.
Seems like this is another person who has just used CaptainSolo's original MIDI. I'm not sure if he gives permission, but you could've at least improved on say, the timing. You say you added more notes, I'm not really hearing them. I know because I sequenced a version of this myself and there's a hell of a lot missing that makes it sound incomplete. e.g Where's the trombones? This is proof that just having good samples and slapping them on someone else's work does not a good composition make.
@3mptyLab OK, first you need to go to the vst instruments tab in the devices menu and create a kontakt instance of ewql...Then you simply create midi tracks and you set the midi track output to 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 as you wish....then you go into your kontakt and you change the midi channel of your current instrument from "omni" to your midi track number...that should do it ;)
It sounds too plain. To humanize the notes, go back and randomize the velocities of the notes. You'll get much better results, ESPECIALLY with string instruments.
Hey, have you guys seen the new Windows 7 equipped StudioBLADE keyboard production center? It's perfect for running all of your Windows compatible software and plugins! Check out the videos on our channel by clicking the link below!
Anyone willing to share their Cubase projects with Symphonic Orchestra? I am trying to learn, but I would like to see how to an orchestra is built...;-) anyone?
I would say that a Stereo out that shows red all the time and you don´t even see the levels moving is maybe a little overkill in classic or moviescores...perhaps for a danceproduction it is ok? One way of getting rid of that COULD be to change velocity in the first staccatostrings so that you create a rhythm only by the different levels you get from changing velocity. If that is made good there is less need for a Round Robin sample and you dont get that pushed mix.
Ok so you see those red things above your master fader, that is bad! Adjust your mix to where you dont get that and you're not clipping. Just some advice.
Well thanks for your advice but in this track there is NO clipping...There cant be no clipping cuz i used a limiter and some compressors to avoid this...the little "clipping" checkbox just displays the clipping cuz i had my inserts switched to bypass at a time and i dindt reset the clipping helper.
@skut5 Try using your compressor/limiter extremely sparingly, as this can destroy some of the volume dynamics. Let the mix be a bit quieter, let the music breathe a bit more. Good job on the arraignment!
@skut5 And that's exactly the problem. This is overcompressed. You should never use compression on an orchestral piece. :P
Also, this is very unhumanized. You have good quality samples, but the velocities are the same, making it very apparent you did it in Cubase. You need to make varying velocities. For instance, when two notes play right next to each other, make the second play a little quieter. Not too quiet so that it sounds like you tried too hard, but quiet enough that it sounds human. :)
@neblixmusic What you say is true - except for the compression part. Modern film scores are loaded with compression, especially action scores. Compression galore.
@chrishurncomposer And that's to give the extra "punch" in the movie theatre, but you shouldn't do it too much.
This piece is too much. It's very noticeable here and kind of irritating, especially because the low end is "muddy" (a lot of unfocused bass sound sounds messy).
I started with the basic midi file of the theme but added a lot notes by myself and tweaked them around until they fit to the song. Espacially in the string and percussion parts. The midi file was just very basic.
Very nice remake. Some parts are a bit off timing, but otherwise it's very close to the original. One thing I suggest would be to use a Round Robin patch for the strings, as the beginning cello part sounds electronic using just a single sample.
A round robin patch is a patch that uses different samples when you hit the same note twice in a row. Instead of using the same sound repeatedly on a single note, it switches between 2 (or more) sounds ever time you hit the note.
This makes it so you don't get a machine gun sort of effect.
Round robin patches usually have "RR" after the name of the patch.
If you are using the Play version of EWQLSO, there should also be a "Repetition" button that will give similar results.
can you upload the cubase project files and the midi at mediafire, please.
coz i like this soundtrack realy much!!!

Does s.b. know how to change articualtions while an instrument is being played? Does this only work with automation from the sequencer?

Could you explain me how to setup cubase so that different midi tracks go to a single EWSO Vst? I can't figure it out. Thank you very much ;)

limiter doesn't mean there is no clipping. Notice the red block above your volume bars.

are you using the East West PLAY Edition?

Using a limiter on this kind of music feels a little unusual, classic music have dynamics mostly...even moviescores.
But the job overall was nice, cheating with a finished midifile or not...= )

@chrishurncomposer You shouldn't, it ruins the dynamics.

did you really make that yourself... or did you just import a MIDI file someone else made? Sure looks like it ;-)

@PatchTestDemo LOL DUDE, that's exactly what I thought.
It's super obvious. The accents are just wrong. If he played it manually it would sound 10 times as realistic. And the percussion is so midi-ish :P

Hi mate =)
Thanks for your comment and your rating ;)
But i've got one question, whats a "Round Robin patch"?
Do you mean to use a more realistic patch of ewql for this little opening, or to increase the portamento (glide)?
Thanks so far, Skut5/LocoSight

A round robin patch is a patch that uses different samples when you hit the same note twice in a row. Instead of using the same sound repeatedly on a single note, it switches between 2 (or more) sounds ever time you hit the note.
