@yonatanyoni83 well if you're writing a line for an incomplete song, then it is fairly simple - whatever suits the song. As for starting from scratch - it's all about the sound and overall feel that the bassline will have with the rest of the song - a good starting point is genre, tempo, time signature (remember that the most effective basslines are usually the easiest to play)
@yonatanyoni83 Its easy... feel the groove. Chances are you have something in your head, feel it and go with it. A great little trick I learned was to hum and or sing what was in my head. Then simply play what you sing... it may work out well or it may not, but if you start in that direction then what ever you play will have more feeling to it, and chances are it will have better phrasing and will flow better as well. All lead to a stronger and more fundimentally sound groove =)
