  • Hey Bearmeister brother, just checked out your PHOTOBUCKET pics and it looks as though the guy in the Red Suit with the sleigh dropped off some sweet goodies for your Christmas ?

Looking forward to hearing that SAGA project guitar brother !

  • @gary5749 I'm looking frward to it too. First, I 've got to paint it and then the real fun can begin.

  • What's that pedal you stepped on there, Bear? Sounded sweet. Actually everything you played sounded sweet. I found your vids right after taking delivery of a G5120 AND an AFS75T the same day (long story) and now you're giving me some ideas on how to best part with my holiday bonus pay...! Nice work!

  • @pickrhead Thanks for the compliments, and I also own a 5120 that I've modded heavily. You have good taste in guitars. I play through a Fender G-DEC 3 THIRTY and the pedal just lets me switch presets. So I just stepped on the button for the "Chicago Blues" preset I created. I'm glad you liked the tone. I wanted it to sound like a low wattage amp being overdriven. I think I came close, though I'm always tweaking things.

  • I want to send out a big THANK YOU to all of you who had such nice things to say. It is very much appreciated.

  • Well done!!! All four tones were excellent!!! I'll bet the use of 1 Meg volume controls really preserves the high end!

  • @BB2009LZ You're right about the 1meg linear taper pots. They don't affect the tone of the pickups as you turn down the volume. Also, I have it wired like a '54 Les Paul. Billy Zoom from "X" gave me the tip on the pots and the wiring and it really paid off. The Tom Short "Sweet 90" pickups are simply the best P90 on the market in my opinion. They sound like 50 year old P90s from the moment you play your first chord.

  • Fantastic! I had no idea you could get so many different sounds out of the same guitar.

  • @DeistPaladin Thanks. It is a very versatile guitar.

  • That's the stuff! Great playing. I'm glad you like the Tru-Arc. Keep posting the music!

  • Wow, this sounds very nice, good job!

  • Now Bear this is what I guitar playing....most excellent dude. The tone is dead on as is your playing. DustyRoad

  • Really nice, Bear. That's a side of you that I have never heard before and you didn't disappoint.

    Richard

  • Beautiful guitar, Bear! You've certainly made it one of a kind ... and the playing was, as always, excellent. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks. I've had the guitar about ten or eleven years back when they were still made in Korea. I really like it and the neck and action are just perfect for my hand.

I'm not a blues player by any means but I was really wanting to demonstrate the sound of the Tom Short "Sweet 90" pickups to the guys on the guitar forum I hang around on and blues and P90s just go hand in hand so I gave it my best shot.

  • That guitar is beautiful Bear, great playin´ I'm a blues lover myself.
