In India, not all children work. Just those born as Shudra (lowest class).
In their religion, you must remain in the class (or caste) that you were born into, so many of the children believe it would be wrong to try to better themselves.
This is brilliant. Although, judging by the appalling spelling and grammar of some of the comments, I'd say there's quite a lot of kids in need of some more mandatory education. Keep up the good work.
So the whole idea behind this lovely vid is you live in developed country feel gilty!!!
Seriously XIX century western world was not much different then the developing country depicted here so personally I don't give a fuck about the message. You're looking for people in need look at your own goddam back and suprisesingly you'll find plenty.
Nice video. Though there is something missing. A point, wich is not shown, or wich is never depated. If the poor children's parents see that life is shit for them, then why do they make children? i would say, either because they exploit their children or (inclusive or) they don't know how children are made. Or for some other reason...
But helping them is not bad right? well its a deep topic....
im sorry but i would pay to have the life these kids live. ive got about 6 full blown severe mental disorders. they think that having no money or education is so terrible? please... this sounds like heaven to me
People seem to think this video is trying to make you feel guilty for not helping people... but it isn't. It's just saying that if you go to school and you are receiving an education and have the possibility of going to university and having a career, don't complain about getting up early in the morning and bitching that your iPod doesn't have enough space and that your house or car isn't as big as you'd like.
Be happy with what you've got, cos we've got it good compared to most others.
How terrible it would be if people in developed and developing countries could choose, of their own free will, to go to school. If everyone would choose to go to school, this world would be a right bloody mess.
this vid is bullshit why should i feel bad cause i went 2 school casue i live were i live cause my mum gave berth 2 me
if u ask me the women n men of these poor 3rd world countrys should be castraited problem sovled my parents didnt have me n my sibblings full well knowing they couldnt raise me so what the fuck gives them the right
It isn't trying to make you feel bad for going to school. Quite the contrary. It's trying to make people feel bad who go to school and complain and whine about how they don't want an education and how they'd rather be at home playing video games and hanging out with friends. Well that's just great... but life without an education is what the people in the poorer countries have. And THEIR life is something to complain about. Ours isn't.
I don't think the message of this was "feel guilty for not helping feed starving children" i think it was mostly "stop being an idiot and taking the fact that you can get an education for granted".
Children in third world countries often have a really strong work ethic because they know it's the only way they can make their lives better than they are (hence two of the richest men being Indian, I bet you they didn't get their simply by kissing ass)
This video is so sad, but at the same time its true. and thats what makes it so sad.
ive done the 40 hr famine twice & it was very very very hard. & i cant imagine how hard it would be to do that for your whole childhood. it makes me sick thinking about it. but there is nothing i can do excpect donate money. which i cant do right now. it makes me sick. does anyome care about these children? imagine how you would feel doing this as a child. you probly dont work this hard as an adult. its sick.
I am still trying to figure out these goody twoshoes who travel thousands of miles to help the underpriviledged, when there are so many right here down the street.
Especially with the price of fuel, which would be saved to help that many more people here.
Dude... Can you not listen? This video is for the AUSTRALIAN 40 hour famine! As far as I know, there isn't a place called Utah in Australia... Though, there is in the USA (a place I have limited knowledge on because I DON'T CARE; you aren't the best country in the world).
The Australian Government hasn't screwed up as badly as the US Govt. so the number of poor people on the streets is in fact very little! Sure, having any is having to many, but really we don't have as much of a problem as USA.
I went to the site. It deals with helping Australian, ( I assume white middle class) children to realize the poverty "overseas" children must face, which takes the focus off of Australia, when the Australians have poverty in their own country.
Help the aboriginies and other poor folk in Australia? Wouldn't think of it?
Why not? too close to home?
India is one of the most economically thriving countries in the world, with many millionaires. Let them help their own.
I agree with "GJSTERP" noone wants to see a child suffer, but why is it always us the "developed nations" that have the blaim placed on us, what is the Indian government doing "Nothing". they have big gold religious buildings and statueds, yet there are people starving.
When you become a developed nation it is your obligation to help provide for the other ones. If something happened in the states and we had to leave here we would wish than that we would have helped others. Maybe we do need a one world government. We will never really function correctly until we do.

60 million children in India working, probably to feed themselves?
Who will feed them, if they do not feed themselves? You? Me? 60 million?
As long as they are not working in dangerous jobs, I don't think it should be any of our business, unless we decide to feed them we should shut up and mind our own business.
An interesting view point, but certainly these young children deserve to enjoy their child hood rather than work all day everyday... some of the work is dangerous too, but I guess the message we're trying to get across is that young people in 'developed' nations can do something to help through World Vision.
i dont understand y all the people show india as a place full of slums.. why dont they eva bother to show other places in india .. tats bad.. they always complain india lacks dis .. tat .. but yo have ya eva been to all the good places india..before posting this video
wat eva, i guess india is doing pretty good .. check out the progress made espcially by bihar, whose ppl no longer migrate to other provinces, same is with UP .. u need to check the stats first, i know in each and every country there is a prob of poverty.. get a life loser
Of course India has made good progress and each country has its own poverty concerns, including Australia. However, the issue of poverty is not an isolated one within each country - therefore poverty in other countries where it is a major concern (such as India) is very high on the list of priorities. India is one example, but there are many other countries in Asia where a greater commitment to assist local and national efforts has to be made by developed countries.
lol!? by my accounts.. i ditched half a year of school! and this was the reason.. if Australia dosent know how to ditch they are truly lost! ^__^ maybe the foreign exchange program should upgrade !? eh?!
ever notice how every celebrity in the WORLD has never done a fucking thing to save the planet.. oh but they sure do love their promote videos .. thats because they get paid extra (apart from their excellent salary) to stay quiet!!
I remember helping with this! Damn I feel old -_-

well the reason these people are in poverty is because of the system (which includes education).

This is the second video of yours that I've seen and I think that both of the mare brilliant!
You've created videos that would appeal to people through the humor but also educate them about what really is happening, it's brilliant...
Good on ya.

Do a search on the "World's Richest Men."
The Forbes site lists 5 and two of them are Indian.
Now, make me feel guilty for not trying to feed the indian children, when I have to help my families save their homes here.
Trying to make the Australians feel guilty is the same thing.
Make the people who are eating feel guilty.
We all may be hungry very soon.
