Yeah, but i doubt that will happen. No matter how much NBC may offer, Disney just offers more money. This was Stern's one mistake as commish. He took more money but the ratings for the NBA on ABC...suck. NBC is a proven sports channel as their ratings just skyrocket for everything except the NHL but they still draw decent ratings. I agree, the NBA was at it's best when on NBC as everything was perfect but as long as Disney continues to throw money at Stern, the NBA won't be on NBC :(

CBS started the trend of basketball's booming popularity w/ the likes of Bird, Magic, Dr. J, and Isiah. NBC did a outstanding job picking up where CBS left off and took the NBA to new ratings highs w/ the likes of Jordan, Hakeem, D. Robinson, Duncan, Shaq, and even Kobe in his early years. ABC/ESPN took the NBA to new high-LOWS. Their 2007 NBA Finals games were beyond horrific.

This was the final game of the NBA's roughly 17 year golden era, starting with Magic's MVP performance in Game Six of the 1980 NBA Finals. It wasn't just Jordan's retirement, it was the lockout that also started the league's decline.

Of course, there's been just an awesome year for the NBA this season, and if a great playoffs culminate with *fingers crossed* a Celtics-Lakers Finals...we could be heading back to glory as fans.

I have this game on tape. I live in Illinois, we had a tornado warning for our city during the game. It was pretty cool, the station only broke in during the commercial breaks. Great game, and call it ironic, but I remember the skies cleared in the 4th quarter.

You had 30-40 years of classy, "normal" players...Dr J, Moses Malone, Magic, Isiah, to Drexler, K Malone, Olajuwon. Guys you could relate to. And now it's a bunch of fools running around, acting like they're everything, but they're a bunch of 4 year olds.

That's not necessarily true about all classy guys, but this sport did turn into hip hop and it was because of the rise of the high school players. High school players were punk kids who were still immature and spent a lot of money and did not know that they could stay off the streets. They didn't have many high school players back then. That's why the NBA cancelled the high school rule, to give kids time to mature, hopefully because of thsi the nba will go back to it's good days.

Somehow, I think, after seeing the ratings for this years Finals, more people would watch this game (Game 6, 1998 NBA Finals) than the current Finals. NBC had a way of making games dramatic. My entire family watched the NBA games in the 1990's, especially the Bulls. Now, my parents can only name two players in the league, Kobe and Shaq. ABC doesn't market at all, and they show a horrible product. Please outbid ABC, you saw what happened when you let CBS get the AFC in 1998.

Man, these were the days. I wouldn't miss a game on NBC if my life depended on it even if my team (the Magic) was on the ropes when it counted. Now, with ABC, I intentionally turn the game on late if at all to avoid all the garbage they throw at us in the beginning that does little or nothing to build up the drama.
