I have passed the NHIE and am also IRC certified.
As to the old silly claims that a dog or a 10 year old can pass the exam, they don't wash. A dog cannot use a computer and most 10 year olds don't know wire guage requirements.
ASHI is OK as an association, but I have chosen NACHI. Better benefits and better wuality, lower cost CE (all of it state licensed) They even offer thermal imaging certification.
I always advise people to use a home inspector. Your buyer probably will, so it's better to know about any problems, and fix them, in advance. Check out my videos for more home buying and selling tips.
Good video, my mom is in the processes of selling and buying a new home. I've often thought about being an inspector myself since I continually piss people off by noticing things they'd rather go un-noticed. Love the one of the disconnect hanging by the wire draped across the roof. LOL
If tou can't understand that ASHI and NAHI allow people to become members (albeit, not "full" members) without any testing whatsoever, then make these guys go out and do inspections to get the magic number 250, than I'm wasting my time with you.
1) In states where proctored exams are required, the exam is proctored.
2) While the other two groups require a proctored exam to be a full member, they require no test whatsoever to join and be a less than full member (including doing home inspections!).
However, it still stands, there is no entrance exam for either NAHI or ASHI. Any joe blow writing a check can pimp themselves as a member. Also, how many CE's are required for either AHI or NAHI?

Totally useless to the average individual. You need to talk and explain the problem. Forget the music.

At least NACHI has an entrance exam. As far as I know, nobody else does.
