$4000's more than they cost new so i wouldn't buy that. engl invader on the other hand is 4000ish new and the footswitch/z9 is another 400. the thing is, engl's used retain higher demind and therefore price used as where a cobra used can be had for as low as a grand and in great shape.
yeah the Invader costs 2 grand used just for the top. The Cobra regularly goes for $1,100-1,400 used just for the top. I vote Cobra though this vid SUX for this amp. I'd still love an Invader too. I have used the Cobra though and that's one of if not THE best metal amps imo. has a great chimey to glassy clean too.
@westsd4lyphe they are $3200 new. you can get them on ebay for $1000 to $1400. i have seen many as i'm looking to buy one/trade for one at some point and have been for a year now. the average used price is $1200. I saw one go just yesterday in fact for $900. the guy was no doubt unhappy with that one.Ebay will be mostly 1400 right now but, they come thru daily in my email and i always see one or two in the 1000-1200 range.
My band played a show last night and our other guitarist borrowed a Framus Cobra from a friend. We had a while to tinker with all of the settings, and it dissapointed.
6505 or the new 3120 were way punchier and tighter and overall just better than the Cobra.
It seemed like the Cobra's highs were too *chingy* and the lows didn't punch as much.
next to it there was engl invader? if yes how it compares to engl invader or engl powerball or engl savage? which one would be most brutal sound? please anyone can answer my question? any suggestion for buying brutal sounding guitar amp?
i compared my framus cobra against my friends powerball and the framus wooped its ass. the powerballs tones are overprocessed and sound kind of like a gain booster pedal. the cleans are epic though. the framus's tone is way way better and way more punchier. this vid does not show the epicness of the framus.
You can get the most brutal chunky riffs out of the powerball, The smooth death tremolos out of an fireball and the most overall sound out of an invader.

Sounds badass, doesn't sound like usual EL34 tone to me though.

I'll still take a VHT (Fryette) over any other amp. Nothing beats the headroom of those KT-88 tubes.

Just my opinion though

I had that EXACT same opinion the first day I got mine.
It really takes some tweaking.
But now I got an awesome metaltone.
I mostly use Crunch, haven't got the time to tweak the Lead.

That's what noise gates are for :P

Could be the wallsocket isn't grounded properly, I played a Framus Cobra before and the hiss wasn't as bad to be honest (with hi-gain settings).

In my opinion the Invader is more "brutal". The tone of it seems better overall to me.
