i used to live in he english countryside... i noticed no one but farmers are educated on hunting... they need to loosen gun laws instead of re allowing dogs to hunt...

Where I live, you dont go onto the moose range unless you are hunting-because people are hunting- I would guess I wouldn't wonder about where people are setting snares-because people are setting snares- dogs belong in parks and usually on a leash. I cant feel sorry for people that let there pets run around unrestricted and then blame someone else when they dont come home.

I had to shoot somones dog because there dog was not on a lead and was chasing cows and trying to bite into there hind legs, and they refused to put there dog on the lead I warned them twice then shot the dog.
They went to the police ind got told that I was well within my rights to protect my animals and that they were also tresspasing because it was not on a public footpath but private land 5 miles from the footpath.

The ban was a joke to start with. It was not even a ban. They proved in court that there was a real need to control the fox population. So they still allowed shooting and even small groups of dogs to be used to hunt them. So there never really was a ban. Not all snares have stops or are self locking, what about drag snares.You can still buy non locking snares today.Anyway many people make them there selves.

I my opinion (underkeeper-Highland and lowland estates,pest control officer,countryside ranger since i was 19) i cannot justify the need for snares,i have used other methods that have proved far more effective.
the snares are one of the best ways for gamekeepers like me 2 catch foxes and the do not strangle the animal it work as the same as a dog lead simply holds the animal till u get there 2 check them which by law hast 2 be done twice in a day this video is bullshit from city folk that have no idea and the countryside have gotten alone 4 100s of years the British countryside is way it is 2 day by gamekeepers

If this were deer hunting you'd have a good argument, but snares only conserve a human developed grouse moor environment where there should be Caledonian Forest, and they kill the wildcats that would otherwise help keep rabbit, fox and feral cats out. Using humane traps baited with food instead of snares gives you more control, surely more time because they don't need to be checked as religiously, and gives your dreaded "antis" one less argument against hunting as well.

i used to live in he english countryside... i noticed no one but farmers are educated on hunting... they need to loosen gun laws instead of re allowing dogs to hunt...

Where I live, you dont go onto the moose range unless you are hunting-because people are hunting- I would guess I wouldn't wonder about where people are setting snares-because people are setting snares- dogs belong in parks and usually on a leash. I cant feel sorry for people that let there pets run around unrestricted and then blame someone else when they dont come home.

I had to shoot somones dog because there dog was not on a lead and was chasing cows and trying to bite into there hind legs, and they refused to put there dog on the lead I warned them twice then shot the dog.
They went to the police ind got told that I was well within my rights to protect my animals and that they were also tresspasing because it was not on a public footpath but private land 5 miles from the footpath.

The ban was a joke to start with. It was not even a ban. They proved in court that there was a real need to control the fox population. So they still allowed shooting and even small groups of dogs to be used to hunt them. So there never really was a ban. The so called ban was just there to appease the media and brained wash do gooders.

Not every keeper is like you and checks his snares twice every 24 hours.Many leave snares out.
Of course they strangle the animal-especially when it will enevitably and naturally panic.
Management of the countryside has changed through out the years-do you still persecute jays?Are you still using Cymag?What about Gin Traps?I know keepers that encourage stoat,weasel activity on their land as they not only keep rabbits down but have managed to keep Grey Squirrel down too!!

I use snares when I have to; not my favourite method of pest control, but sometimes it has be done. Groups like LACS are comprised of the emotionally retarded and those with a warped sense of morality. I love animals, whether they be pets, or food but they are not my equal and I dont understand people who get overly sentimental about them.

It could have been put across a little better, but the truth is that a few irresponsible keepers and farmers don't check their traps and do cause unnecessary suffering and death, sometimes of very rare species like wildcat. There are humane trap alternatives, there is pest hunting, there is gas for rabbits at least. With financial support to change over why not stop using snares? I know farmers in the Highlands that have and are doing fine.

i have lived in the country all my life and snaring is a lazy mans way of pest control, i have walked in MY local country side all my life however a norwiegen conglomorate recently bought an estate to use for pheasant hunting parties now they have littered MY LOCAL LAND with snares and locked gates across old post roads trying to stop access to locals who have lived here all our lives so maybe its the conglomorate who should f off back to where they belong and leave OUR COUNTRY SIDE ALONE

If this were deer hunting you'd have a good argument, but snares only conserve a human developed grouse moor environment where there should be Caledonian Forest, and they kill the wildcats that would otherwise help keep rabbit, fox and feral cats out. Using humane traps baited with food instead of snares gives you more control, surely more time because they don't need to be checked as religiously, and gives your dreaded "antis" one less argument against hunting as well.

Bolloks!! Snares do not only help with pest controle on grouse moors, they are the most effective fox control method on gound at any level!! There are no rabbit problems on grouse moors, only hare. Foxs' are fly beasts that will very seldome be cought in a trap, and if you read the rules, wich i'm sure you wouldn't want any of us to brake.....You'll see that live traps must be checked evey 24 hours!!
