Great sound! To me the U-Bass sounds like a 50/50 mix between upright and solidbody electric bass. I sold one of my old amps to a guy with one and he brought it over to my house to try. I'd never seen one like it before but ever since hearing his I've wanted one for myself. One note of caution - the U-Bass needs some sort of outboard preamp if you're going to plug in to the normal input of a bass amp (due to the impedance difference between passive piezo transducers & magnetic pickups)
The tone in this video is nothing short of amazing. It sounds Way better than many other UBass demos I have heard. Can you tell us precisely what was in your signal chain? Thank you.
hey Steve - following our talk on Saturday nite - yes, this is lovely. i will def be in touch, and as I said, will ask my band guys, and after that, will have it myself if u still have it. thankx. linda ooklalady
You adjusted the tone nicely, might sound great with reverb. Nice smooth feel in your playing. The bass sounds good, but as you know, 99% of your tone is in your fingers. Thanks for the demo!
Hello Steve, thanks for this video! I am interested in acquiring this to my collection, but one question: what is the vital difference between the 100% mahogany and the spruce top Kala's? Does the mahogany bass have a deeper sound? Thanks in advance for anyone's repsonse!
I have the fretted mahogany model. The most significant difference, from a practical standpoint, is that the mahogany model comes with a hard-foam case. The spruce model comes with a gig bag. We all know what's going to happen to a small acoustic instrument in a gig bag. CRUNCH!!
@jburtonca Son-of-a-GUN! I was going to put in an order tomorrow and was trying to decide between to two. I travel A LOT and as the song says, United breaks guitars.
Mahogany it is. A spruce in a gig bag would be expensive kindling before I got to LAX.
I was skeptical, but the tone from this is amazing, i gotta get one

Does anyone know how long these strings are expected to last with normal use?

@LucasDHill That'll be fret-lines then, just marks on a flat fingerboard.

I am looking at the UBass as an acoustic bass to have in my arsenal! Sounds great! Looking at the mahogany fretless.
