  • @Michaeldean88 This is how I sing. Lower with a slight drawl. So if you're insulting her, you're insulting me. Not that you probably care. And FYI it's not like June Carter had the best voice on earth in the first place. She had her own unique style that I think Reese portrays beautifully.

  • this is the first song i learned to play on a flat top.

it makes me cry to hear the words

  • i love it i honestly don't understand how anybody could dislike this :/

  • How is this awesome? She's attempting to sing in a southern Appalachian dialect and failing miserably. It's making my ears bleed....I wouldn't have a problem with it if she sang the song in her actual speaking voice, but coming from the mountains of western NC I can't stand it when people attempt the dialect.....no one ever gets it right and it makes them sound mildly retarded.

  • @Michaeldean88 You're right, these idiots didn't even use Johnny Cash and June Carter in the movie! So unauthentic!

  • @Michaeldean88 She had to. For the film. Johnny Cash wanted the actors to BE them, not for their songs to be played by Johnny Cash and June, but for the actors to take their roles and sing from themselves.

  • @broflove I am aware of this little Miss, but the fact still remains. She's singing terribly...

  • @Michaeldean88 How is this awesome? it's a beautiful song and she has a beautiful voice regardless of the accent

  • AWESOME!!

  • If you like her as an actress you should watch "Freeway", i think she played even better there ! It's her best role and an awesome movie, its a totally different role than she usually plays, its awesome to see her like that. And barely anyone knows the movie sadly.

  • linda, linda, linda... ♥♥♥♥♥♥

    I love, ♥♥♥♥♥

  • is this actually reese i have never seen the movie. is it good?

  • @KyleOgilvie1 .Yes its her , & More like amazing. You HAVE to see the movie.

  • @KyleOgilvie1 its very good, she got an oscar for it.

  • she wrote walk the line when she fell in love in him, the movie just doesn't portray it that way but that's how it was...

  • @sznitek80 Not even close. Fact: John Recorded "I walk the line" (which he wrote) in 1956. He was married to Vivien at that time. He hadn't even met June yet......

  • @barkpeeler2000 .....NO ....But I will set my hound loose ,on your trail .

    ....Just in case .

  • Fucking fake photos.

  • 2 WORDS....BEAUTIFUL VOICE!

  • if it was possible to fall in love with a voice, I just fell. Hard.

  • better than june. go ahead and kill me.

  • This song turns me into a woman.

  • @jaydubbayu hahha LOL and i NEVER use LOL. nice!!!

  • i seriously love this song :L

  • @pin2022 Mine too:)

  • Christ I love Reese Witherspoons voice...she's so talented...if acting ever goes south on her...music would be an amazing transition for her..WELLDONE !!! Yahooooooo!

  • They all done a good job singing. But Joaquin Phoenix did the best job out of them all. He had Johnny Cash down. He just needed to pick up the temp a hair.

  • i hope resse witherspoon recovers from the car accident

  • @tonyyusufstark ...Is that what your Mommy told you .

  • sounds like someone doing karaoke in a forced southern accent

  • Most of the lyrics are wrong.

  • thanks asshole way to ruin a good song for me , you sick fuck .

  • I love when her voice gets high!

  • my mamow told me to learn this song on my guitar at frist i thuoght it was stupid but once i got the hang of it i loved it now i know it by heart

  • and my laught shall be gay?

  • @legolas35653 grow up

  • @carringtonc79 why , she said it!

  • @legolas35653 means happy

  • love this film and every song, respect for resse, some singer

  • @TheLuigasan..............May your Mother smack your mouth ....Hush up and be still .

  • She sings ten times better and with more feeling than June.

  • love the Autoharp in this song.

  • johnny cash didnt have a hair lip????

  • tolles Video...toller Film

  • Only one word---BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

  • shes fine

  • B4 it becomes a problem, gay meant merry or merrily back then. GOOD SONG

  • this is the best version I've ever heard!!!! the Carter family are brilliant, but this song has been taken over by Reese

  • Please don't kill me but I prefer Reese rather than June.

  • @1b2e3l4e5n I totally agree, I think her voice is sweeter to suit the song!

  • cant watch this video, gives me vertigo just looking at it, to fast and to much

  • so well sung by beautiful and highly gifted reese

  • is there a better version than this - I have not heard one?

  • Great Song, but the title screen almost made me seize.

  • @MotionAllegiance Same here.

  • Dont bash me but I love Reese's voice in this. Sorry June. If I could find a good version of yours I would gladly recant this statement.

  • Her marriage was just about over at this point, so obviously she could identify with the words. She wanted to do justice to June Carter Cash, but she said one of the best reviews he got was when John Carter Cash came up and hugged her after the movie and said she had been exactly the way he remembered his mother when he was a boy.

  • @TheWagbert Aaaahhhhh! I never heard that! Tears!

  • Beautiful voice.

  • beautiful

  • I especially like the fact that she got to pull her real accent out and let it run loose all over the place. Born in New Orleans and pretty much raised in Nashville... couldn't get better training to twang than that.. LOL

  • @Caretaker24523

Gawd! I remember her from "The Man in the Moon" back in '91! I knew then she'd go all the way. I knew her accent was for real, but I was afraid she was too Southern for Hollywood.

  • @pinz2022 Well luckily it seems that country is finally "acceptable enough" for Hollywood... and it's about dang time if'n ya ask me!!! And thank God we're not all stereotyped as backwoods, dirt eatin', no account rednecks. But, to quote Fannie Flagg..... "the secret's in the sauce..... " ;-)

  • I think what makes Reese Witherspoon so amazing is that, she usually plays funny roles and then she comes and plays June Carter and her and even Joaquin Phoenix are so true to the characters and just do it so beautifully and amazing, basically.

  • @heyscotland

The funniest part of the movie is when her character is accosted by a fan in a drugstore and she stands by meekly as she is ruthlessly upbraided for divorcing her first husband. Different times. Different world.

  • @pinz2022 My favorite part of the movie is when they're all drunk playing around on stage before the show & June gets pissed off & says John can't walk the line & starts throwing beer bottles at them all. I laugh every time!

  • @cllarive lol "we surrender! we surrender!" xD cracks me up

  • @cllarive Everytime I watch the movie I laugh so hard at that part.

  • flaaarrrrrr

  • june and johnny would have been proud

  • Reese is sooooooo much better than Gwyneth.

  • Wow an excellent voice If reese were to go into country music I would be a solid fan

  • if i had a choice to marry a celeb it would most definitely be mrs. reese witherspoon, too bad your married already!!

  • she could be a great country singer a real country singer that is. not the stuff they try to pass off as country currently.....

  • Reese you have a beautiful voice, my favorite country singer is Tammy Wynette, but your voice comes close

  • Really great, you can see a music with reese voice in mark margo-reese witherspoon song

  • the verse is not "with pale and the leader". It is "with the pale amenitas".

  • @blueberries4ever I found a lyrics website that said that too, but in all the videos it's been "pale and the leader"

  • can you say 1 million times better then june...

  • I love this song, but this video almost gave me a friggin seizure.

  • Beautiful song that tugs at the heart !!

  • Reese you have one of the BEST voices I have ever heard Please sing more you are BRILLIANT:)

  • Lovely version of a lovely song... I like it even more than original. Thanks so much for sharing! ♫♪♥♫♪

  • This is a beautiful and haunting song, thank you to whoever posted it x

  • better than ever

  • I just love her version of this song. Wish I had a voice like hers. =)

  • LOVEEE this song, lovee the movie <3

  • this is my favorite song ever and im a 22 year old dude bugger that tekkas stuff, few beers a guitar and this type of music thats a good time!

  • wow Reese u have a beautiful voice , should sign u up for a recording contract i like u etter then June u have a amazing talent in acting and signing god bless u sweetie

  • feels me saaaaaaaaa happy

  • too bad your lyrics are somewhat wrong.

  • I sang this in Choir!! Love it!

  • @TinyParawhore1

yes feels me sa happy to sing together

  • Reese sings this song so beautiful i love listening to her sing this song

  • no offense to ms. cash, but this version is far superior to the orginal.

  • she sounds much better than june!

  • Her accent is thicker than any Cash!

  • she sounds nothing like june carter, but she still sounds nice.

  • Good song. Witherspoon is one of the richest.

  • i like this song

  • And to think she almost did'nt do the movie.......

  • there is no greater love than this couple.

  • This song is so beautiful

  • thats very hard to sing

  • WHOA!... Don't be an epileptic and watch this vid!

  • i love this tune :)

  • I learned it was "the pale aminita and islip so blue" -- the first is a wild mushroom and and islip is well....a wildwood flower.

not "the pale and the leader and eyes look like blue"

  • I learned it was "the pale aminita and islip so blue" -- the first is a wild mushroom and and islip is well....a wildwood flower.

  • best version of this song

  • she belongs in the music buisness!! she is awesome. same for gweneth paltrow (sorry if i spelled it wrong)

  • great voice

  • What's a mingle?

And Reese was the only good thing about this movie.

  • What's a mingle?

  • god bless mother maybelle carter.

  • great cover !

  • How could anybody red-thumb this tune!?! soulless fools, I pity you!...

  • pure angel

  • Awsomee!

  • the world is a sadder place for this man's passing, from a true country music fan.

  • She does a fairly good cover

  • This song actually chronicles my relationship with my husband- Oh, the promises he made when I was young and nubile- And then he let me down, and neglected his pale wildwood flower...

  • at 0.37 I think it's "the pale Oleander and violets so blue". The text as shown makes no sense since the character is talking of making a head garland out of natural flora.

  • she has an awesome voice she should be a singer =)

  • she went through six months of voice lessons for this movie, I think it paid off :)

  • @rockprincess1395 I agree !

  • @rockprincess1395 Indeed!!!

  • @rockprincess1395 I think you're right. :)

  • I don't get the part were her laugh is gay

  • @WaspSnG Gay also means happy. Back then thats all the word was used for.

  • @KristaDawn1985 Honestly? Quite amazing really...

  • This is WAY BETTER than Gwyneth Paltrow's recent attempt at country music.

  • @NamathTheLegend i wish gwyneth would stop she is so not country she is city girl actress material

  • i think this version song by Reese Witherspoon is better, however we have better technology to alter voices.

  • Magnific song of the Carter Family, and marcellous Reese Whiterspoon. She's a great singer!!!

  • Fantastic Song Love It :D

  • What's a century here or two? Classics survive usually in their original without any variations. I'm still lost in yesterday. Jim Fraser

  • uhm your lyrics are wrong in a few spots

  • I seem to be relating to all these words of this song right now, in more ways than one.

  • I love june's original version but I realy think that Reese did a better job with it.. she has an amazing voice

  • yes-yes-yes great

  • The back is a rush! :(

  • lol keep reapeating 0:48

  • @hillbillyfat gay also means happy, there's seriously no reason to laugh about that

  • LOL 0:46

  • Amazing voice !

  • There is something very touching about Reese's version of this song. I can hear and feel her deep respect and love for Tennessee. Reese has an amazing ability, too, to morph with the characters she plays. Her rendition of Wildwood Flower is almost as stirring as the original version of the song.

  • @lacpeb I love your comment.

  • Amazing !!! greetings from France we love you Reese !!!

  • REESE has a BEAUTIFUL voice! quite mellow n soothing! lovin it!

  • I grew up around relatives with so many musical abilities and talents and I remember most of all sitting around as a very young child and listening intently as two of my uncles played this song on their guitars. It seemed so magical to me as young as I was at that time and it still seems so magical and beautiful to me to this day.OH! And I am still young by the way! Well I like to think so and I am.

  • her voice is sooooo sweet...

  • pretty song

  • i think it is better than the real june carter

  • @the3Dandres No chance mate. June had the most amazing voice. I love Reese, but June was amazing.

  • @the3Dandres i know right

  • The original is played on a zither ,more fine picking with a bit of acoustic guitar. Her voice is very sensous compared to the versions I've know.

  • not bad Reese

  • Going out to My Ex Girlfriend Kuksuk Kinniksie.

  • Well, ZELIG500 got that right.

  • Beautiful!!! Thank you so much!!!

  • she has a lovely voice i like her beter than june...sorry june R.I.P

  • just the most beautiful girl ever!

  • I wanna learn this ong on the guitar, it sounds super easy.

  • @TheOneOwlet It is, but if you hear the original you won't think that ;)

  • the words to this song are above ANYTHING that can be written today - Ma Carter may not have had alot of book knowledge but she could write songs that would make an English teacher envious!

  • @dewaynecullen

There are few things in life sadder than love that is not returned. This is one of the most exquisitely sad and beautiful songs ever written.

  • I think she should get together with Meredith Baxter Birney & do all those folk classics.

  • wats the song from the film walk the line is soiunds like this but its got different words

  • In memory of my mom

  • because its a song for our hearts!!

  • nice fx
