  • NBA on NBC was the best. You would get a double header or triple header. i would watch the first game then go play some basketball, Good times.

  • 90's were the best

  • WOW, so that's where that sound I sometimes hum or play in my head comes from. I combined it randomly with other chimes, but this is the origin.... must have heard it while I was a kid

  • I think this theme may be coming back once NBC Sports network goes on the air.

  • Wish it would return to NBC. This is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • i might actaully watch the nba again if they brought back this theme.

  • This intro gives me chills and I'm not even a Bulls or Jazz fan!

  • Comment removed

  • NBA on NBC was the best love this theme and I miss the 90's

  • Wow... That was a long time ago. These were the first finals I remember watching. I was 8 years old and was pulling for the Jazz.

  • Marv Albert-"Hello everybody, and welcome to game 6 of the NBA finals in Salt Lake City, Utah as the Bulls try to finish off the Jazz and win their 3rd NBA championship in 3 yrs. I'm Marv Albert.......

  • NBA 80's-90's. Professional Basketball.

    NBA 2000's. Glorified Street Ball.

  • Best sports themes ever:

    1. NFL on CBS (98-02)

    2. NBA on NBC

    3. Yankees on YES

    4. CBS Golf

    5. NBA on TNT (late 90's)

Honorable mention to MLB on FOX

  • @TexanHeat1 hopefully, the NBA on NBC returns in 2015-16 season.

  • I miss this song. NBC should sell the theme or they should bring the NBA back to NBC or something.

  • @TexanHeat1 not for awhile....they just renewed their partnership with ABC through the 2015-2016 season

NBA prefers ABC since they dont need their own production crew to handle games since ESPN owns ABC, they do everything for them

  • Play this music and Michael Jordan is the only thing that comes to mind. good times

  • well at least the lockout is over cheers happliy

  • God I love this.

  • ABC ruined the NBA. It needs to go back to NBC

  • Comment removed

  • Too many people hating on the NBA right now. I'm a fan before the lockout, I'll be a fan after the lockout, whenever that will be.

  • @42underscored Nuff said

  • This was one of the last times i cared about the NBA, last time was when the 76ers made it to the finals against LA in 01. All they talk about now is Lebron James and how he's better than Jordan.

  • i miss this theme so much leave it to espn to put up a poor theme for the nba

  • GOOD TIMES

  • I want this theme to be played at my funeral!

  • This sounds totally majestic!!

  • NBC then: National Basketball Channel

    NBC now: Nothing But Crap

Nothing more than a mainstream media propaganda tool now.

  • This is the NBA on NBC!

    The 1998 NBA Finals!

Tonight, it's Game 6, the Chicago Bulls V.S. the Utah Jazz!!!

    Ah, memories...

  • love the flourish with the French horns

  • Wow this was when I still watched the NBA

  • This song will be played at my funeral... No questions asked.

  • It was the Flu game right? When Jordan played with 40 degree fever and a virus in the stomach

Still killed it and scored 38 points with 7 rebounds and 6 assists lol

  • i fucking remember this shit when nba basketball was at its greatest time too me reminiscing on shit almost makes me cry really.

  • back when there was the vancouver grizzlies:(

  • NBA basketball today is a kids game

NBA basketball in the 90's was a man's game

  • Dam NBA JAMS ! Ya giving me the Chills on this one.

  • Gives me chills every time I hear this intro...end the stupid lockout!!

  • wow... the god ole days of b ball.......... now its just of uneducated nigger thugs... pathetic

  • @thebayareapimp Fuck your racism....but you're actually right.

  • since the NBA is going through a lockout, i think the NBA should work a deal with bring back NBA on NBC. That would be awesome

  • Back when NBA Teams were actually teams and not a loose collection of guys wanting to be in the spotlight. Ok, yeah, there are some teams left in the NBA, but not like back in the 1990s or earlier.

  • When I hear that intro, my mind automatically travels back to those amazing playoff games. Particularly the FINALS games between the Jazz and the Bulls. Seriously, you just knew you were about to witness something special as soon as you heard the opening chords of it. My heart used to beat faster whenever it came on. Ahhhh I miss the 90s.

  • this is the one where Michael Jordan made that last game winning shot of his career.

  • BRING THIS BACK

  • NBA ON NBC shall return the year 2018

  • @fearllless

    you serious?!

  • hmmm i wonder who won this game....... :/

  • What I would give for the NBA to return to NBC. And I would probably kill thousands, commit genocide, if it meant that the NBA could magically go back to the 80s and 90s style of play. Today's soft ass basketball and weak "superstars" make me want to vomit.

  • Bring back the NBA on NBC! It sucks on ABC.

  • @vigilanteartist what about reggie and the pacers or robinson and the spurs. not even close. good times

  • 17 people were not watching the NBA in the 1990s when it was on NBC.

  • @necrofear98 Those 17 people probably think Lebron and Kobe are the greatest in NBA history. And they probably listen to Justin Bieber or something. Young, idiot punks need to learn about the history of the game.

  • NBC's coverage of the NBA was just better than the networks that have it today. It didn't matter who was playing-- they made it feel like an event.

Granted, they had much more to work with. Olajuwon and the Rockets, Barkley and the Suns, Ewing and the Knicks, Malone and the Jazz, and, of course, Jordan and the Bulls... I mean, it's not even fair to kids today.

  • @tvnutboy He still uses a piece of this as bumper music on his "Intelligence for your life" radio program.

  • I jack off to this every day...best nut you'll ever have

  • Uh oh. looks like eklipz95 is about to get his sample on.

  • @1manwolfpack9 very tru. & its their 1st franchise title so its cool 4 them. cubans gonna run his mouth like crazy lol

  • @1manwolfpack9 LOL neither do i. i didnt even give a damn who won this series this year bit im glad it wasnt them

  • @1manwolfpack9 i bet u miami is really crying now :)

  • NBC= Jordan's Bulls

  • Damn....miss the NBA on NBC.

Come playoff time......Tripple Header Saturdays, and Quadruple Headers on Sunday.

Even their 2nd team of Mike Breen, Walton, and Snapper Jones was enjoyable to listen to.

  • @gobulls2011 Actually, Tom Hammond was the play by play guy on that crew. Breen hadn't hit the national scene yet.

  • hahaha these finals this year as so fucking gay and lame

  • man, i loved this song as a kid

  • 17 people fail at life

  • It just isn't the same without this music.

  • @afjkidd5 The current one is much better, so it's ok.

  • This is the NBA on NBC. The 2011 NBA Finals.

Tonight, it's game 1. The Dallas Mavericks vs the Miami Heat..,

    Ugh i just depressed myself...

  • Too bad NBC let their sports department and network in general go to shit. NBA should never have left their airwaves. NBA on NBC always did it right for both parties... Here's to hoping for a return to this partnership years down the road...

  • When ever I hear this music I think of Michael Jordan!

  • @tchugert same here. I just searched for this theme after watching an MJ compilation video.

  • I get goosebumps watching this.

  • this was my shit!

  • 2011

  • oh man yea this is NBA ON NBC ON FINALS 2001 GAME 1 DALLAS MAVERICS VS MIAMI HEAT , TNT FUCK IM REMEMBER THE 90S THIS INTRO,fans should vote by nbc back again.

  • The Nba was the best on nbc. Fuck Jeff van gundy

  • few things get me as amped up as watching this

  • DONT YOU MISS THE 90s

  • I absolutely hate what the NBA has become. I stopped watching when they yanked my Sonics out of town after they had been here for over 40 years, 3 finals appearances and a championship.

  • NBA has become a clown circus, idiots abound

Jordan was the last true legend.

  • This is the shit man. I remember as a teenager waiting for the theme song when it came on then everybody knew to shut up and watch the game. Now we have to listen to van gundy trying to be funny on ABC or ESPN. Marv Albert the best NBA announcer I believe.

  • I remember as a kid playing basketball at the local park,

and introducing myself with this Intro Song!!!

    Classic

  • @jalonzo31 how? there were no ipods back in these days. unless u r a kid now

  • @redskins2k

U dont need an ipod, The instrumentals were so easily to memorize I just hummed it the whole way

to the park and hummed the song before the game started. When this song was heard everyone knew GAME TIME

  • The NBA on NBC was filled with so much WIN and ACCOMPLISHMENT

  • God I miss the NBA in the 90s

  • Greatest intro ever!!!!

  • i just came to a conclusion! when the nba was on nbc free agents barely left for "marketability" when it was on nbc everyone watched the league so there were no problems to get a endorcement. now that they went to espn nobody cared. This is what ruined the nba's small markets! just think about it. Clevland had a lot of people watch there games with ehlo and doughtery. sacramento was great with weber, bibby/wiliamns divac, peja. nobody complained about small market than. Nbc needs to come back!

  • Karl Malone and John Stockton made 15 accounts and disliked this video. Jerry Sloan disliked it too for a total of 16

  • back then, that stupid scoreboard just shows up out of nowhere while today, it stays. damn, i miss the old NBA. Back then, they can get to more than 90 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. today, it's already overtime but neither teams got at least 100 yet

  • nbc droed this for hockey......hockey is gay

  • @SuperMarkmoney

current nhl hockey > current nba anyday, sorry

  • The playoffs just aren't the same without that Peacock logo in the intro.

It was one of the few things I LIKED about NBC....

  • they should make tnt and nbc cover the finals not shiity espn/abc

  • DA BUUUUUUUULS

  • this theme still gives me a boner. Reminds me of the good ole days when basketball was worth watching

  • @CRWrestlingfan basketball is still worth watching

  • @RDJnDME its different now, now you have egomaniacs like LeBron James and D-Wade who with Chris Bosh cant even win a championship with 3 of the top players in the NBA on one team. LeBron talks a bigger game than he plays and coming through in the 4th quarter? Forget about it. Ill admit that 2011 finals was fun to watch, but back then, i dont recall MJ needing Karl Malone and John Stockton or Patrick Ewing to win a championship. This was when i looked forward to watching the NBA, when it was NBC

  • @RDJnDME I dont recall MJ playing a few seasons with the Bulls and then saying "im never gonna win a title with this team, im gonna go find another team with better players and a higher caliber level to help us practically walk in the park in the finals, only to lose to a more underated team" MJ was the reason people turned on their TV sets, he amazed us and he wasnt near as cocky as LeBron, and MJ had a reason to be cocky, he just went out there and played.

  • @CRWrestlingfan guess your rite

  • @CRWrestlingfan Dude when you said that, i was rubbing one out to this song.

  • @CRWrestlingfan basketball is still worth watching.

  • @danerook read the above comments, everyones entitled to their own opinion, but i meant this was when basketball was still REALLY worth watching, like you anticipated it and couldnt wait to turn it to NBC to hear this theme and see the Bulls play the Knicks and those NBC graphics that made the game special with the NBC commentators, now when i see a game on TNT or ABC im like eh, whatever ill watch a little bit but it wasnt as appealing as it was back in the day

  • @CRWrestlingfan Thank you very much...this generation sucks compared to the 80-90s era. I mean we watched LEGENDS growing up. This generation has what....people like lebron james?? I was a chicago fan back then and i'm not even from that city. It was worth watching the NBA when you had people like Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Larry Johnson, Mugsy, all these NBA superstars had skill and talent to make you want to be like them.

  • Always remind me of the Jordan era of the Chicago Bulls

  • Well, at least have the NHL on NBC is a plus. I never liked it on ESPN back in the 90s

  • I miss the NBA in the 90's now days you got cocky players that want to fight over ever lil thing at least in the 90's they had reasons to fight

  • @bxchick90 damn true! & the music brings back hella memories!

  • It's 11:12 PM EST. Listening to this was just the highlight of my day.

  • 1998 - I was 5.

Anyways, this is one of those themes that got me pumped up for the upcoming game. The March Madness theme CBS used to have (unfortunately they changed it this year; fucking idiots) was another fantastic theme.

  • I WAS 17

  • @KennyReno33 disney is killing its own legacy too.

  • Best Fina

  • Damn, I just got chills listening to this intro while reminiscing on my childhood memories. Unfortunately, the NBA of today doesn't even come close to bringing that euphoric excitement that was prevalent during the 1980s/90s.

  • @OceanWave78 you're wrong, today's nba is great.

  • @OceanWave78 I agree. I haven't followed the NBA since Jordan left. It's garbage to me nowadays.

  • @OceanWave78 yeah when hearing these intros especially in the playoffs, you know it means business.

  • @OceanWave78

oh blow it out your ass, just cause you don't like new intros doesn't mean other people don't like them. the ABC pantheon of greatness intro is pretty exciting to me

  • @OceanWave78: Yes indeed. Of course in the 80s it was CBS that had the NBA and that intro is every bit iconic and epic as this one was.

  • @OceanWave78 the nba is still fun to watch.

  • NBC for life. Man everyone is right this was when Basketball playoffs were just as big as a Football Superbowl. I loved this as a kid. Mom's fiancee at the time would blast this after coming home for elementary school (20 years old)

  • The day Michael Jordan became a God.

  • You can't beat this.

  • When I'm listening to this, I'm dreaming that how about if Phineas and Ferb use this.

  • 16 people were jazz fans

  • when this song played in my house it meant get a cold pepsi and sit down and watch michael jordan do magic

  • Man this brings back so many good memories when people would be so pumped up to watch the nba and it was all due to this amazing tune!

  • this gives me the chills

  • jazz should have won that just saying lol

  • Haha watching this game right now on NBA TV....basketball was so beautifully pure back then.

  • Daaaamn this takes me back!

  • Did anybody catch this song being played at the 2008 Beijing Olympics? i thought it both cool and a slap in the face.

  • Back when I LOVED watching Basketball. :(

  • when life was simple...... i also loved the chicago bulls intro with the bull running through the city

  • bring back nba on nbc

  • Chills...good times.

  • wow this look so dated but it's only 13 years ago.

  • OHHH YEAH, YEAH, YEAH I remember when NBC showed basketball games

  • Man I miss this. Reminds me of my childhood summers spent watching the Chicago Bulls and their epic epic games before I'd go outside and shoot hoops in my driveway.

  • @zzyzx0788 Yeah! same here! This music got me so pumped and loved everything Bulls and Basketball. it feels like it was a dream just thinking about it. Like a wonderful time of my life so peaceful and tranquil. Hot summers right after the last day of elementary school. grab some friends drink Pepsi (cola wasnt the thing for my family at the time), and turn up the TV for Michael Jordan!

  • classic

  • so... much...nostalgia. da bullssss

  • I can't stop watch this......Gosh i miss this.!!

Now that the Bulls and the Knicks are good again we should bring it back.!!

  • You just made a grown man cry.

    However, I Thank-You.

  • I like how the music breaks down @ 0:25 lol

  • brings tears to my eyes

  • i remember on sundays when i heard thiz intro i ran outside eventhough it was spring and only 60 degrees to shoot on the local playgroung. that was the gratest intro ever

  • It's going to be hard to come back to NBC, going to have to wait for another 5 years, assuming that players won't chew up their contracts, players today don't deserve $60-100 Million.

  • Wow this is perfect for a 3d tv

  • I can't watch basketball.. the Jazz Bulls rivalry was epic! Malone, Stockton vs Rodman, Pippen and Jordan.. Those were some GOOD DAYS

  • Im not gonna lie I shed a few tears. )':

Bring the NBA on NBC back!

  • the chicago bulls versus utah jazz

  • I frickin love the opening!!

  • best song ever thumbs up if you agree

  • nbc please bring basketball back

  • 15 people like golf

  • This was lengendary NBA days, I love this dog..

  • basketball was never the same when Weak ass ESPN took over. No offense to that network but for real NBC made playoff basketball seem like the biggest deal in the world when i was a kid...They made the Sixers getting swept by the lakers seem like a great series.....ESPN/ABC takes all the life out of basketball telecasts...TNT is ok but they still lack what NBC had going with these intros

  • @earlylatebrunch Sixers weren't swept. They won the first game.

  • @earlylatebrunch That wouldn't be because most of your memories of playoff basketball during this era were either of Magic, Bird, or Jordan would it?

  • @earlylatebrunch Dude..that is SOOO true. I remember watching the Finals in the mid and late 90s when I was a kid and it was the BOMB.COM dude. Miss that sh*t!

  • @earlylatebrunch you can thank Disney for their pussfication of ESPN...they own 80 percent of the company.

  • @earlylatebrunch Production Value

  • @earlylatebrunch i agree, but maybe because we were kids thats why?

  • @earlylatebrunch sixers lost in 5 they won game 1 107-101 in an OT classic

  • :'(

  • *DOES THE BOUNCE TO THIS SHIT* : D

  • i've always loved this theme music. i just wish i could remember whos voice that is.

  • OH PLEASE BRING NBA BACK ON NBC

    ABC SUCKS!!!!!

  • I'm setting this as my new ringtone lol

  • God the NBA was so much better back then. It was actually fun to watch.

  • Who did the V/O for this?!

  • Best....theme....ever
