Ive built and owned a b16 turbo hatch before this car and it was fun, but honestly had more fun building this 1.5. I only ran this car twice at the track. I ran a 14.7 and 14.6 on street tires, 2.2 60ft. I also beat a b16 swapped crx and a gsr swapped ek with this d15.
I spent less than $1,500 on this build including dyno time. I built the engine myself.

@91cannibal an exospeed stage 2 will be perfect, especially with stock bottom end. make sure to get it tuned though. Thats when you will really feel the improvment from the cam.

very sweet hatch - just rebuilt my '91 SOHC CRX Si w/very similar internals (slight variations). Exo stage 2 cam, Ti valve retainers, Bisi V2 header, P29's, Eagle block guard, Maxbore tb, Eagle fuel rail w/ fpr, adj. cam pulley, stage 2 head work, Skunk2 shifter & poly shifter bushings, on & on. Mine running an Integra ECU @ the moment, what type of ECU you got in there from Phearable? Not got mine out of shop yet as full rear/front suspension getting massaged also.
@zookr That sounds like a great build. I bought a chipped ecu from phearable with basemap to get it started. I had it tuned soon after, felt a big difference after the tune.

hey man you know you dont need that ugly little tach there. you can swap out a cluster from an ex/si or even from a jdm sir! everything is plug and play, the dx model has a tach wire on the harness in the back they just dont use it :D

last summer my friend with a 92 Civic Si came to me and said. "hey i want to rebuild me whole car, strip the paint, the interior the dash everything, and i want a new motor" i told him "why there's nothing wrong with the z6, its got VTEC" he say's "yeah but i like the look of the DOHC" its the middle of winter now, and the car is still stripped, the H22a with tranny and all is still sitting on the ground next to it. and the bill keeps going up.
Its a great engine. It depends what your friends goal is. If hes planning to go 12's or faster all motor, than just keep the h22. If he wants to run 13's and 14's all motor for a fun street car, tell him to just build the sohc. There aren't that many people running 12's or lower with a sohc. A 13 second sohc can be built for less than $2,000, depending on the chassis. If hes going turbo,stick with the sohc, it has so much potential under boost.. good luck!
HomeboyFernando, I noticed a big difference after the build. It made much more torque and power compared to a stock 1.5. With the exospeed cam, it really pulled hard from 5.5k rpm to around 8k and without losing any low end. It felt more like a stock sohc with a 50 shot nitrous kit, but without the nitrous of course.
Its a tanabe g medalion full catback exhaust. They stoped making this model though, so its kind of hard to find. Its pretty loud for a canister type exhaust, but I liked it.
d series are under rated motors the they are super cheap to build when i had my d series i had 280 bhp which wasnt bad i use love spanking on evos and sti's and they ask what i had and tell a d16 use to love seen the look on there face XD
good work I love d-series too. Next car will have a turbo d16. You can look on my channel and see his turbo 504whp single cam. All I want is 300-350whp d-series.

this motor is the shit! have this motor as a minime in my ej coupe. i pull d16z6 left 2 right all day n civics hatch n coupes. all u need in this d15b 1.5 is built camgears, camshafts, chip ecu po6 and just basic bolts on and your good for a fast car on the street. With the po6 ecu i have on my car, i get gsr launch of this minime since it rev limits @ 8000rpm. So you can probably know why i be takin d16z6 left to right. yup, dont believe me... fuck u then!

wow thats a pretty nice d15b7 you got there, i just bought myself a 95 eg coupe with one in it, $400 with no rust but the front clip is kind of messed up cus the guy who stole it ran it into a building...oops? but the marks can be taken care of with some like 2000grit and some water then buff, also got a 98 with a d16y8 in it o.O. very nice, like the exhaust.

look. i love hondas. lately all ive been doing is trying to show people that d15s are fast. i race with mine all the time and now im gonna go mpfi with a throttle body spacer next week and get me an si tranny. thats about as good as it gets. you get me all wrong. it makes more sense into putting your money in a b series because the HP gains are MASSIVE. an all motor 200hp b series rips fuckin hard. the best thing is its cheap and reliable.... dont worry i will post a d15 worthy vid soon.
i have a stock d15 in my hatch and its slow as fuck.. but im soon getting the jdm d15 vtec.. it adds about 20 horses,vtec,and better compression. lets see what it can do :]

hey man you know you dont need that ugly little tach there. you can swap out a cluster from an ex/si or even from a jdm sir! everything is plug and play, the dx model has a tach wire on the harness in the back they just dont use it :D

last summer my friend with a 92 Civic Si came to me and said. "hey i want to rebuild me whole car, strip the paint, the interior the dash everything, and i want a new motor" i told him "why there's nothing wrong with the z6, its got VTEC" he say's "yeah but i like the look of the DOHC" its the middle of winter now, and the car is still stripped, the H22a with tranny and all is still sitting on the ground next to it. and the bill keeps going up.

Its a great engine. It depends what your friends goal is. If hes planning to go 12's or faster all motor, than just keep the h22. If he wants to run 13's and 14's all motor for a fun street car, tell him to just build the sohc. There aren't that many people running 12's or lower with a sohc. A 13 second sohc can be built for less than $2,000, depending on the chassis. If hes going turbo,stick with the sohc, it has so much potential under boost.. good luck!

HomeboyFernando, I noticed a big difference after the build. It made much more torque and power compared to a stock 1.5. With the exospeed cam, it really pulled hard from 5.5k rpm to around 8k and without losing any low end. It felt more like a stock sohc with a 50 shot nitrous kit, but without the nitrous of course.

Its a tanabe g medalion full catback exhaust. They stoped making this model though, so its kind of hard to find. Its pretty loud for a canister type exhaust, but I liked it.

d series are under rated motors the they are super cheap to build when i had my d series i had 280 bhp which wasnt bad i use love spanking on evos and sti's and they ask what i had and tell a d16 use to love seen the look on there face XD

d15b with a p28 .. miss mine. had a cx trans on it , id do 87 in 2nd..no power at all in 5th though.LOL.. smatened up and went to a ys1 i think it was, made a great deal of top end differance, but torque fell off drasticly. ill build another one day too.

this motor is the shit! have this motor as a minime in my ej coupe. i pull d16z6 left 2 right all day n civics hatch n coupes. all u need in this d15b 1.5 is built camgears, camshafts, chip ecu po6 and just basic bolts on and your good for a fast car on the street. With the po6 ecu i have on my car, i get gsr launch of this minime since it rev limits @ 8000rpm. So you can probably know why i be takin d16z6 left to right. yup, dont believe me... fuck u then!

thats just the motor cost fool, try swaping that into a civic, need shift linkage etc etc ecu, alota shit, mounts, everything, it ends up being near 10k, which would be why hardly anyone has one in a civic. that is unless they stole it..

wow thats a pretty nice d15b7 you got there, i just bought myself a 95 eg coupe with one in it, $400 with no rust but the front clip is kind of messed up cus the guy who stole it ran it into a building...oops? but the marks can be taken care of with some like 2000grit and some water then buff, also got a 98 with a d16y8 in it o.O. very nice, like the exhaust.

I own a honda crx with a d15 with DUAL POINT FUEL INJECTION and my car is faster than that.Not stock of course but i didnt do all that dumb shit you did. in fact i beat a sohc vtec today and got it on film. i will post it soon. dont waste your money..... just go b series.

First off I have raced and owned a turbo b-series for years, this was just a fun project. Second, bring that POS DPFI car to my area and I will spank you with a d15 with the same exact setup. Third, I have spanked stock b16 swapped hatches (same price) with this d15. I love sohc engines, tons have fast b's which is boring.
Last of all, tell the exact same thing you said to me to Bisimoto. Tell me what he says. He's beaten every b-series NA records with a SOHC.

you show me a vid of you "spanking" a b16 and maby i will listen to you but i will post my d15 vid. my crx is stripped down to weight and i have ultra light rims. a full catback exaust with a ceramic header a clutch and a lightweight flyweel and 210 thousand original miles. you will see. its fast. i held with a b20 civic untill105 then he started to beat me but what can i say. most people are too pussy to race past 100 anyway.

look. i love hondas. lately all ive been doing is trying to show people that d15s are fast. i race with mine all the time and now im gonna go mpfi with a throttle body spacer next week and get me an si tranny. thats about as good as it gets. you get me all wrong. it makes more sense into putting your money in a b series because the HP gains are MASSIVE. an all motor 200hp b series rips fuckin hard. the best thing is its cheap and reliable.... dont worry i will post a d15 worthy vid soon.
