  • Paul, Calvin, Franceen and the whole Neufeld clan, I'm a tad late to the party - I've known about this film for 6 months but only watched it moments ago -- I didn't have sound for YouTube (?!) and waited until I finally did. Thank you for sharing this. As the parent of a trans teen (FTM) this means so much to me and I'm sure to many others as well. Best wishes.

  • @anneu53714 That means a lot, thank you. I'm so glad you had the chance to watch it! You probably have already, but please pass on the link...Feel free to contact Calvin directly - his website: calvinneufeld (dot) com.

  • Dear Calvin: Thanks so much for sharing your story! I believe the church failed you. Would your spiritual journey have been different if you had been a part of a fully accepting and affirming congregation while on your path? I would like to think that a community like mine, Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, would have made a difference in your faith journey. Do you think that would have been a possibility? • What a great film and story. Thanks for sharing. If only we could all be so accepting.

  • Paul, absolutely beautifully expressed, shared and documented and Gab's music is genius! I also really like the title - I hope the film goes viral!

    Much Love

    Cher

  • @ourusa4joy Cher, what a wonderful surprise, thank you! Already the film is planned on being used as a resource at various LGBT centres, groups, and churches. The next step are film festivals! The film is a positive message of hope and love, so I hope many people can see it. xo

  • Hey guys,

It's Kayte - Jake's girlfriend. We met when you came over to his house quite a while ago :) I loved the short film, I think it's fantastic to see how everyone's lives have been a part of Calvin's journey. I felt I needed to connect with you because Jake's surgery is tomorrow and I'm almost as nervous as he is! ha ha excellent video all in all, good to see positivity and love in the world :) Hope you all are well, Best wishes,

    ~Kayte~

  • Beautiful video!

  • If everyone had parents like Calvin's mum and dad, and a loving and emotionally intelligent partner, we would live in a safe, happier, brighter and kinder world. What a moving, wonderful documentary about a man I have not yet met, but whose creative talents and generous heart are -- I am grateful to say -- keenly familiar to me.

  • Thank you for this! Calvin, it's good to see you; you look great. Everyone else, thanks for making this film. I hope it will help people grow in love and wisdom, and in their ability to open their arms to people they don't necessarily understand.

  • Very touching story. I think it is brave and generous for Calvin and his family to meet this head on and to allow themselves to be on camera for us to see. It terms of religion, I think these people out grew theirs. Good job on the doc, Paul.

  • @owenericwood Thanks so much Eric! The whole process of working with Calvin and his family has been wonderful. I'm so glad they trusted me to turn their beautiful story into a film!

  • Thanks for sharing this Calvin. Yours is a very inspiring story of the beauty of being true to yourself. And what an amazing family you have. All the best to you!

  • I met you both briefly when you came to speak at West Hill. Your continued commitment to sharing does so much for so many people. Thank you.

  • This is amazing- it truly is the meaning of unconditional love that every family should understand. THANK YOU

  • Hi Paul, Thanks for this new film. Took the time to watch it on a busy wednesday morning and doing so, it because a much appreciated moment of meditation. The subject, the people, the pacing of the film, the tone, the simplicity of it! A rich experience as a viewer. Thanks to you and all those around and with you that made this possible. Cheers, Marc.

  • @mb130263 Thanks Marc, and please pass it on!

  • Thank you for the effort it took to produce this project. It's a valuable resource for transsexuals to share with friends and families. It's going to be recommended far and wide because it's needed and there's nothing else like it. Thank you Brethren Mennonite Church, Banff Centre, Carpenter Foundation, Paul Neudorf, and Neufeld family. Once your family's story is seen and heard, it will inspire others to open their hearts to unconditional love and their minds to acceptance.

  • @sueulrey Thank you for your thoughtful message. I hope as many people can see this as possible, it definitely is needed. Thanks again!

  • Love. Love everyone. Unconditionally. There is no greater thing.

  • Thank you for sharing your story and you are blessed to have such a loving family.
