  • Got this on a 7" red vinyl, Original Body Count version on the A-side, this version on the B-side.

  • fuck yeah soundgarden rocks anyone know where i could buy/download this version

  • The 90's rock scene was fucking badass.

  • @PurpleGreenHaze Too right.Too many people listening to their iPods nowadays to create anything musically worthwhile.

  • now i dont hate soundgarden as much

  • @soundgardener75 obviously I wasn't there ... then why would I be asking a question about it then?... jeez -_-

  • bitch !!!

  • these guys all come from the punk scene...period. yes were the ones fighting cops in LA and the rest of the world and taking shit from 99.9% of the people out there when we expressed our views and tried to tell everyone about what was coming...and here we are.

  • Legend has it, that the reason why Soundgarden covered this song because during Lollapolooza in the Early 90's. Ice-T was one of the headliners and some authorities told him if he played Cop Killer at the show they would arrest him, So when Soundgarden came on stage they played it instead, any truth to that?

  • @cenoharris Soundgarden was not able to play this song as much as they wanted it to in the later Lollapalooza shows. They were asked to not play it because of the apparent buzz it reignited since Body Count. Plus the riots it would incite.

Obviously you weren't there when it happened.

    DustyAndPistolPete, thank you for this!

  • breaking away from the political debate here, i think its cool that soundgarden wanted to cover this song, its a classic, but Chris Cornell's voice is not meant for punk/thrash.He has a pretty crooner voice good for hard rock and ballads but not punk.Punk was made from ppl who couldn't actually sing.Ironic how Cornell who's one of the best singer's out there can't do punk well

  • I don't get all of these huge ass comments about capitalism.

    Listen to the song.

  • When was this?

  • IT''S NOT THE SAME... IT'S DIFFERENT??? WAIT...WAIT...I SEE IT... HE ISN'T "BLACK", JUST A DIFFERENT "COLOR" THAT DOESN'T "COUNT" IN MOST OF YOUR EYES!?!

    I'M A MINORITY IN MY COMMUNITY...& I'M WHITE...BUT I DON'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH THIS...IT'S JUST THE OUTSIDE COMMUNITY THAT DOES??

    I DON'T KNOW WHY???

  • @jlennon2010

i live in a white country, in argentina there is no black people, but the police .... is the same Fuking shit

the song speak about facism, and all impositions are facism

  • What in the hell does politics have to do with soundgarden? Enjoy the music and leave each others ideals out of it, please. It's what soundgarden would want.

  • There needs to be balance. The Left is not perfect. The Right is not perfect. Without a little bit of both this world goes to a Hell that we aren't seeing yet, aka Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, etc. Plus without both sides, none of these fun arguments would occur.

  • Bad song, shame on you Chris((

  • @PutinosauRUS

''Shame"? Because the band stood up for freedom of speech? Not sure if you were around then, but, there's a reason why Soundgarden chose to cover this tune and it had nothing to do with endorsing or supporting cop killers. If you're unaware of the controversy back then surrounding the original version of the tune, perhaps you should look it up. Either there's a right to free speech or there isn't. And when the original version was released, it was made clear that there wasn't.

  • [ACAB]

  • If a big music company is going to give them the opportunity to reach a larger audience, why wouldn't that be taken advantage of? Serj Tankian put it well, it's like burning a house down from the inside.

  • @hazor777 I honestly think Chris did that because of the opportunity to spread his music and to play a cool rock show for people who otherwise wouldn't get to see one, probably the reason he played this song as well. The rest of the Audioslave...well they wouldn't blink an eye if someone was being killed in the name of anti-capitalism I'm sure, why would they,it's made them millions, and of course their defence is always that they 'spread the message'.I think Chris is more honourable,he just sings.

  • @DustyAndPistolPete: I get the feeling (as you said) that Cornell had better intentions, but I always wonder whether Morello had "power" of Cornell in that band-essentially it was RAM w/out that other asshole. Id be willing to give Cornell the benefit of the doubt, but you have to wonder what the hell was he thinking?Morello & his smart as mouth needs to be confronted by somebody - I would jump at the chance!!

  • @hazor777 LOL his "smart ass mouth"? Why because, its all true what he says? I suppose you'll jump on the "Hes talking against the govt and evil corporations, when it is a corporation that makes him rich" bandwagon. Nevermind that he sings against the corporations that are destroying our nation, and that hes getting his money from a MUSIC COMPANY. If you watch the audioslave DVD, you'll learn that they went there because they were the first american band to be INVITED there, so they went.

  • @DustyAndPistolPete : your assertion could be right, but Im betting it was Morello's set up since he is an avowed & publicly admitted Communist (Harvard "educated" -the most common in the spotlight). Morello has aligned himself with political causes that try to push the progressive agenda (Cindy Sheehan's run for public office - good for a laugh) So, Im sure it's some connection to Castro via the music industry who set up the whole thing. I dont doubt Cornell's sincerity, though naive & stupid

  • @DustyAndPistolPete "The rest of Audioslave" as you said, formed a band and played songs about their ideologies and concepts, also exposing things like the Leonard Peltier case to the entire world, Chris Cornell was never politically active and never had intention to be, but he always "Sent Messages" in a more indirect and cryptical way both on Soudgarden and Audioslave...And you? What YOU do?

  • @KingNurk They also spoke out on things that they were misinformed about, such as Bobby Sands. How many people died in Northern Ireland as a result of that man's selfish willful suicide?Ratm obviously read a newspaper clipping and assumed they knew all about it cos it was about 'fighting the man'.I try to get my political information from rounded sources not 3 minute songs which are always left-wing and which are by multi-millionaires lecturing people about financial inequality.

  • @DustyAndPistolPete If this idea was not left, many young people are not interested in politics, why protect the system if it fucks us all day, do not see the case of Greece? Information it's not on 3 Minutes we lives this .

  • @Dusty I sense all types and creeds of capitalism, regardless of their effects, means, ends are under one of umbrella.

    -

So to say that these cats got rich via "capitalism" and therefore stating that they're on par with the people that were entrusted to work ethically on Wall St. and who did not, and effected a "too big to fail" scenario, and all the rest...taking the bonuses off the top of the bailouts ... capitalism ... Yeah. No.

    -

Not to be compared with rock-bands.

  • @Dusty Capitalism is not capitalism. Unless we turn it into a generic word that turns the entire word redundant. ie. Its a capitalist world. Ergo, anything that happens in it is due to capitalism by a capitalist to a capitalist. So no one has anything to claim about. - ie there is nothing wrong happening. - And this statement, is false. - There are some very wrong things. - And Chris is singing about them. - And his message is not invalidated because he sells music. - At all
  • @hazor777 If you actually watch the DVD about Audioslave going to cuba, you would know that the band did NOT meet with Fidel Castro, so your wrong. If it werent for capitalism, I wouldnt have heard RATM*'s music, nor been inspired to conduct the massive change I have in my former workplace. You see, they sing about corporations that are controlling YOU. Epic Records is a music company. They are not against Music companys. How else do you expect to get your message to a bigger audience?

  • @hazor777 that's why Audioslave broke up. Chris didn't feel the same as the rest of the guys on just about anything.

  • @hazor777 So, we should all just support the greed of capitalism w/out questioning the motives of those in charge & how they steal obscene amts of money from the middle class & the poor & want only 2 classes of people in US society: the very rich & the very poor?

  • @tommyt1971 : no, YOU and all the other dumb fuck Liberals should do a little more research before you go voting for "candidates" who are supported/linked to/associate with & fratenize with known SOCIALISTS/COMMUNISTS instead of "goin wit da flow,yo!" and finding yourself in a worse situ than the last with the same MFing govt. as the last time,....duh.The "capitalism" you're referring to is NOT true capitalism, but are you saying Communism is a better alternative? CONT>>>

  • @hazor777 Sorry dude, there's just no talking to someone who doesn't understand that socialism DOES NOT equal communism. Is every socialist country in Europe communist? Nope. Also, there's no talking to you because you're a bigot.

  • @tommyt1971 : no, "SOCIALISM" is Commie "light", true Communism always follows in due time to your "Socialism". Tell me this,Einstein : IS "SOCIALISM" true FREEDOM? Hmm? Either you can't answer that, or you're going to say yes b/c you're too proud to admit you're WRONG. See it's people like you whom Stalin referred to as the "USEFUL IDIOTS" (i.e. you advocated their ideas & agendas & then once they gained power they murdered you all, very expediently) good luck living in your delusional bliss

  • @hazor777 And it's people like yourself that Hitler & Stalin USED to spread their messages of hatred & intolerance. And I'm not on welfare, I work.

  • @tommyt1971 : "hate & intolerance" "Hitler" blah, blah, blah -- always use the "hate/intolerance/Hitler" theme when you really have no logical response & definitely can't have a logical exchange. I suppose Im "racist" too since I dont subscribe to your baseless opinions and views, right? Yea, that "rule in the playbook" has never been used before, very original.

  • @hazor777 I didn't say "racist", I said "bigot" & there is a diff there, as I see it. I said bigot b/c you started talking about people on welfare & how they're freeloading off the govt & you spouted the opinion that Limbaugh Hannity Beck & O'Reilly already have. Well, how do you explain the wonderful capitalist phenom that led to millions of workers losing their jobs over the past 10 yrs & having to go on welfare just to stay alive?

  • @tommyt1971 :seriously? So that's all the result of Conservatives/Republicans/Capatlists? Are you really that far gone/brainwashed? Do you not recall the 2006 congressional/Senate election? How bout 2008 Dem majority? And you still want to whine about "bigotry" balh blah? Thank You for clearing up to me how utterly stupid the person is Im talking to here. You honestly are so far brainwashed into believing the hype from the Lefties you can't even contemplate with sound reasoning? CONT>>

  • @tommyt1971 CONT>> Ever heard of the Glass Stegal Act? Well look it up, pal and you tell me who created the climate of corruption on WallStreet.Of course, so called "conservatives/GOP" were also involved in it as well, but they are not the true conservatives (much like wolves in sheep clothing)-also, who wanted to guarantee mortgages to the poor/lower class back in 2005?Barney Frank and his ilk! Who didn't want to heed the warnings of Freedie Mac & Fannie Mae insolvency?CONT>>

  • @hazor777 And YOU seem to be the one intent on attacking everyone else on here who doesn't share YOUR opinion on everything.

  • @tommyt1971 : hey ASSHOLE: DID YOU NOT RESPOND TO M*Y* POST ??? Hmmm?

  • @hazor777 Yup. I did. Because I thought what I said needed to be said. And drop the abusive language, you're not impressing anyone on here. And your unlikely to change anyone's POV, no matter how much you rant & rave & try to convince us you hate us all for speaking our minds.

  • @tommyt1971 :Well of course you did.Liberals always feel the need to express their IL-LOGIC whenever they feel threatened with the TRUTH and sound LOGIC. Changing Liberal's views is really the last thing I care about, exposing the idiotic views and total HYPOCRISY associated with someone like you & your ilk is what I enjoy doing. And don't transfer/associate your own opinions (i.e HATE) on me,pal. All one has to do is look around,it's LIBERALS who are spewing hate, falsely accusing CONT>>>

  • @tommyt1971CONT>>everyone of being "racists/Hitler" etc. It's the Liberals that are instigating rioting in the streets b/c they cant have their way, it's the Left who wants all their collective bargaining perks and no sacrifice, it's the Left who refuse to lay aside their pride & admit when their wrong. So yea, you go ahead and keep pointing the finger at someone else, it's ALWAYS someone else's fault with you people, you're like infantile babies crying b/c you cant get your way-that is the TRUTH.

  • @hazor777 its also the left who refuses to stand by while the tea party duchebags try to get rid of middle class america. Btw the police are one of the many public labor unions that refused to give up their collective barging rights because that is what a union is. It is sad the the right is so obsessed with profit margins rather than the welfare of their fellow americans. i hope they realize soon that there is power in people not in profit.

  • @audioslaveogre : So where does "Profit Margins" come into play when it involves state budgets? How do they affect pensions and salaries which were PROMISED decades ago by lying politicians (ON BOTH SIDES) who simply said what their constituents wanted to hear? The "profit margins" you're referring to went to the Unions themselves, and NOT to the workers: they went towards political donations and exorbitant salaries of the "collective bargainer", not the union worker. You are so misinformed CONT>

  • @audioslaveogre CONT>>So where is it the Tea Party has the power to "get rid of the middle class" blah, blah, blah evidence you speak of? How does a grass roots movt. "get rid of" an economic class? The middle class is being wiped out from being overly taxed(big govt., too many promises for bloated programs etc.) and rising inflation as well as perks for big corps. 2 outsource business. You honestly dont know your ass from a hole in the ground.Try informing yourself better B4 looking like an ass

  • @audioslaveogre : BTW, the other asshole made at least a halfway coherent argument......you, on the other hand, make no fucking sense

  • @tommyt1971 : Maybe you forgot that beloved "leader" in chief was also called to vote on the bailouts, wars etc... (when he didn't take the cowardly way out and simply vote "present")-- but I know this will all fall on deaf ears to someone like you b/c Ive just completely destroyed your "ideology" and you silly accusations towards me, & Im sure you're going to have some childish : "I know you are,but what am I!" response (as ridiculous as it usually is) so go ahead get yer little 2 cents in...

  • @tommyt1971 CONT>> Believe it or not, there is still opportunity to make a very very good living in the US,... but people like you wouldn't know bout that bc you're still in a slave mentality and rely on some other asshole to PROVIDE EVERYTHING FOR YOUR FUCKING WELFARE Piece Of Shit ASS!! Stop reading the Huffington Post, dumbass - even they're Capitalists-- (again) D*U*H!

  • @tommyt1971 : P.S. - the poor dont hardly pay taxes (except sales and the fucking Lottery!)

  • @hazor777 If it wasn't for slavery there would have been no need for abolitionists. If it wasn't for disease there would be no doctors. This line of reasoning is asinine. Defenders of the rotten world-wide cancer of capitalism have their head up their ass. Fidel Castro may be an authoritarian but he hasn't surpassed any US president since World War II in murdering civilians. He has invaded no country and his hurricane assistance actually helped people, unlike FEMA during Katrina. Fuck capitalism

  • @Tessisidatokmigirass : There is no "true capatalism" and probably hasn't been for centuries, so what's the alternative? Communism? (Capatalism of the State) Socialism? For you to defend a man who murdered thousands b/c they disagreed with his political views and were a threat to his place in power speaks volumes- you must be another brainwashed college brat. The argument here is not so much about Capatalism as it is FREEDOM - of which people like you are a threat to . BTW - FUCK Y*O*U

  • @hazor777 Yo dude, I respect your views. I'm a Cuban-American who is 100 % anti-communist. But let me share an anecdote with you. I saw Audioslave at the Univ. of Miami in 2005. Audioslave's drum kit has an image of Che Guevara on it. This Cuban-Amerian dude in the audience had an anti-Che t-shirt and he got Chris's attention. Chris motioned for him to throw him the shirt and he did. Chris showed it to everybody and put it up on stage right next to the drum kit. That was cool as fuck!

  • @richnice318 : ok, help me to understand why that was "cool" . Che was a communist, period. No? You're Cuban American, you should know more than most of these dimwits what a lie and deception that whole system is, why do you take the view point you mentioned?

  • @hazor777 dumbest. comment. ever. if it wasnt for "capitalism" they wouldnt have needed a career. still i guess you view music as a job not artistic/personal expression. anyway the dalai lama met gwb does that make the dalai lama a war-hungry cunt?

  • @bastardson73 Well to be fiar to the guy who commented, rock and roll was a reflection of capitalist culture. 'Riding along in my automobile..' 'Roll over Beethoven..' It was enabled by the technology on offer at relatively cheap prices, both instruments and cds. Rock and roll needed people buying it to be relevant,no one buys music anymore so rock isn't relevant.People don't want to make music because they know no one is willing to part with 10 bucks for their piece of art so it can't mean much.

  • @bastardson73 line when it comes to protestin stuff. Most socialists come from a privileged background.I've been blessed enough to have been educated as much as anyone, but I come from a working class family so I know these people are all talk. They should become musicians OR activists,I think tryin to mix the two means they are far less effective at both.

Just my opinion, great band, don't wanna knock them, but they and their fans always try to shut anyone up who points out the contradictions there.

  • @bastardson73 : oh yes, the " I starve for my art" nobility take - HAHAHAHA! Total bullshit, but good for a laugh. I guess by your "logic" we should all be trading & bartering our "art" for goods & services in some grand utopian society?? Did I hurt your sensitive "artistic" sensibilities/feelings?? Oh lemme guess GWB="war hungry cunt", but BHO = transparent, open agenda, peace maker?? Hey look, asshole: when you can actually debate with me on my level (much higher than yours), hit me back....

  • @hazor777 dude i'm not gonna bother addressing your cynicism or your interpretation of my words or your one-dimensional take on what music "is". i will however point out how highly amusing it is that whenever someone rips on gwb the standard reply is "well... bho is fucked..."; you cant even see beyond an either-A or B scenario so a debate with you would be a waste of time. and the fact you found it necessary to re-iterate what was an obvious tho false rhet. assertion is more amusing& indicative

  • @bastardson73 : "dude" -(since we're addressing each other in your typical lame ass stoner 'tongue') - you don't even qualify 2 debate me in ANY political discussion.I knew when you posted your knee jerk GWB comment I was dealing with a half witted fuck, who most likely voted for Obama, but now is a converted Ron Paul supporter, likely based entirely on the '911 Inside Job' bullshit. But please, Im all ears: enlighten me on your intelligence deciphering thru the haze of a "A-or-B scenario" CONT>

  • @bastardson73 : the truth of the matter is you're posturing as some pseudo-intellectual when in reality you dont have a fucking clue what you're talking about , thus trying to spin some elevated POV on my comment when yours made hardly any sense (except to you of course). Maybe it's my "interpretation", huh? That's always a good "out" when you really have no substance behind your comments. Please enlighten us how detrimental capitalism is, and your grand vision of the solution.........

  • @hazor777 hey, I been reading some of your comments and instead of debating with you I'd like to know where you get your information because I'd like to know more about your political viewpoints.

  • @warrkrymez : seriously?? I really can't take your comment on face value as serious - this is Youtube, ya know. However, .........playing devil's advocate: what do you mean "your information" -try researching history (the one with facts & not updated per Liberal agenda), also the US Constitution would be good, hell just go to my channel & watch the Money Masters - you'll be miles ahead any dumbfuck that has bothered to argue with me on this video -that is IF you're serious

  • @hazor777 I am serious, like I was expecting some sort of publication, I know conservatives that read "The New Yorker", for example. Others like the work of Roger Scrunton.

  • @warrkrymez : for one, I dont read the New Yorker (just never have gravitated towards it), I listen to some talk radio & suggest Michael Savage above ALL TR shows. Books: The Creature From Jekyl Island, any Michael Savage book, ....World Net Daily site for news & some commentary, the documentary on my channel: 'The Money Masters' (excellent doc.!)...I gravitate around sources..depends..sometimes Ill get sick of one if they try to make it "entertainment" too much (ala Glenn Beck) CONT>>

  • @warrkrymez : CONT>> it just depends....Ill look around on Youtube for documentaries and watch them with an open mind. The minute I hear an OPINION phrased as a fact, I get suspicious -even with conservatives (especially when it comes to the Bible). But that's just it, most of the numbnuts who argue with me on here are stupid, I would bet 90% cannot decipher an opinion (stated as fact) vs. an actual fact. That is the work of a corrupt educational system at best (which we have in the US)

  • @hazor777 I'll check it out.

  • @bastardson73 : BTW: I couldn't think of a more validating source to prove me right than a complete idiot such as yourself. For YOU to say my comment was "the dumbest ever" absolutely backs up my point and in reality proves the opposite.

  • @bastardson73 I think it's a little more relevant to say the artistic thing bout Chris by the way rather than Rage,Chris has tried many different styles(even Timbaland...) and never portrayed a concrete political identity.Whereas RATM have never raelly measured up to the standards they apparently believe in.I know they are activists,I know they are a great band and likeable guys,I'm just saying I think it's telling that Tom Morello had a privileged past as he never really puts his neck on the..

  • @hazor777 The world isn't black & white. Don't let the fear-mongering surrounding socialism scare you away from being open to other ideas. You and I were raised from birth to see Capitalism as being from God, and Communism as being from the Devil. We all have an intellectual duty to look deeper.

  • @desertbutt : There will never be true Capitalism & there will never be true Communism - both are inherently flawed bc humans err on the side of greed every time - it is unadulterated human nature. That said, Capitalism allows the common man a better shot of a more free life than Communism EVER will. Oh ,& I wanna thank all the idiots for voting my comment down, bc now people cannot resist reading a comment that received too many negative votes, HAHA!!

  • @hazor777 shut the fuck up and listen to the fucking song

  • @SirFryStirFry : Haha! probably the best response Ive seen.

  • @hazor777 fuck you fascist faggot

  • @rapcoremanx : awwww.......thank you!! LMAO!! You don't even have a clue what fascist means, but as they say ignorance is bliss...........people like you crack me up! Haha!! Get the thumb out of your mouth & grow up, punk.

  • @hazor777 i don't think capitalism has anything to do with it maybe different lyrics but no talent is talent
