@MrAbsoluteknowledge 64-bit is fine if you're only going to use it for mining. If you want to use it for other stuff, 32 bit may be the direction you want to go.
I've ordered 4x 5830. got only 3 from this order and took a different 5830 from somewhere else.. ati cards are sold out everywhere.. btw.. my retailer sent me a repaired mainboard wich now does not work on pcie first and second slot.. great.. :( waiting for a new mainboard now..
RBE and flashing the card did not work right yet, but i will try it on the new motherboard again.
i'm also waiting for PCIe raiser cable.. i'm sure moving the cards away from each other will lower the temperature alot
Excellent videos Phil! I too am waiting on my 4x5770s (diamond ati radeon) to arrive to begin mining. What's your power supply wattage? Mine is only 750W. Do you think it will handle the load or should I use 1000W? With recent difficulty going up, do you think our rigs will mine 1.5 btc a day? I will be running windows xp or vista, so I know my machine would be eating dust off of your linux powered beast...LOL!
@philipthrasher Thanks for the reply. After getting my first couple of bitcoin. Do you have a trusted site that you recommend to sell them? And what's that process in its entirety if you don't mind sharing. I would first like to pay off my rig before stashing away the "currency of the future". Bitcoin is awesome. And watching your video (Radeon 5850x4 mining) makes me drool!
@garyomglol I use Mt. Gox. Essentially, to sell coins, you have to transfer them to Mt. Gox. From there you place a sell order at current market prices... All the order fulfillment is handled behind the scenes automagically. Once the order has been purchased, you have cash in Mt. Gox. You can withdraw this cash into a dwolla or liberty reserve account, and from there, into your bank account.
@philipthrasher I've read on forums that Eligius payout don't show up on miner's mybitcoin, because of a bug? (It won't recognize generated/mined bitcoins?) Then how do they pay you/ through what means have you set up to collect your earnings? Do you have another laptop that you use to accept "wages"? Thanks for the recommendations. You will see my donation once my rig gets working. I can't wait.
@garyomglol Wallets are created automatically just by running the bitcoin client on any computer... It doesn't have to be run from your mining computer.
@PhantomNyte That's a tough one. Second hand is a mixed bag, and it's hard to know for certain how the previous owner treated the card. I personally wont buy bitcoin parts second hand, as if one card fails, I have no warranty, and now, no way to recoup that investment.

@garyomglol My PSU is 1250 Watts. 800 watts should be fine for your card. 1 btc is a more accurate estimate of daily earnings with a good pool.
Nothing wrong with using windows for mining. In fact, there's no real speed difference. The biggest difference is stability.
Welcome to mining! Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll do my best to answer them.

@garyomglol I'm not sure about that. I use my own wallet, I don't use mybitcoin.

@philipthrasher How do I make a wallet? You mean create a new folder and name it wallet? Please explain this to a newbie. Thanks!

If I could get 5850 for about 180$ second hand is it worth it?

That said, under 180 is a good price for 5850's.

@pirucreek I've shot the video, I'll be throwing it up tonight with my latest update.
