  • Dont believe thats Eddie..... Doesnt even sound like him.

  • not Eddie SORRY

  • this is showy wank without much of a point beyond musically screeching Look at me! i can wank!

  • melts my mind i like this version

  • This is one of the sickest versions I have ever hear. F'ing mind blowing.

  • Jimi Hendrix & EVH are the top 2 guitarist ever.

  • @1966kute They are the most inventive

  • @1966kute I think if hendrix were alive in 1977 or 78 he might have EVH bent over thrice and agaion lol

  • @Melodycat918 Hendricks couldn't carry EVH's jockstrap.

  • Thanks for posting this. EVH is my guitar hero from my childhood to the present. There is no other like him!

  • this is actually far better than the polished Eruption, which devolved from this into a wanky gimmick which found its way into Jump

  • @IntoVariety247 that's not evh idiot

  • Comment removed

  • @getaire whats not EVH? Eruption, this version of it, or the wanky shit solo in Jump?

  • How does he do that? Wow

  • That's ridiculously Epic

  • cool...who ever FAKED this one should be applauded, cause this aint eddie...I was his sound tech for 7 years and i know this is a phony.....

  • @clocktime11 Well the dead give away for me, is the floyd rose usage in 78 lol....

    well.... no.

  • @clocktime11 sure

  • @clocktime11 your chanel says your 23 faget

  • @clocktime11 Uh...no you weren't.

  • @clocktime11 if you wre his sound tech for 7 years you wouldnt be on you tube making all these comments

  • @clocktime11 i agree

  • HOLY CRAP!! that's all

  • Reminiscent of some of Jimmy Page's live solo's. And that would make sense, as Eddie at this time was still developing his own style, inspired by his influences. Pretty cool solo.

  • @Gabe7King8ofrnr10 its just not the "greatest guitar solo ever created" as some people insist

  • @CatchinProjection "Greatest" as far as technically difficult, probably not. However, I think it is the coolest and most signature of all stand alone guitar solo's. Since it's art, it's all just opinion and taste. There is no "J. Evans Pritchard PHD" graph of solo rating. lol

  • @Gabe7King8ofrnr10 I can dig that. I find it interesting that its something of an anthem that male white supremacists in USA hang out under, beings how Eds not all white.

  • @CatchinProjection Ha! Well done. Still a hint of admission.... that he is mostly white. Myself also proud and partial to my "whiteness", as it is well over the 95% LOL ! Alas, nobody is perfect! Except for Jesus that is. He set that bar.

  • I dont much care for ricer cars. I prefer real race cars like NASCAR or Formula 1. Musically Eruption is a 75 hp ricer car decked out with fart pipes and mag wheels, a stereo with a volume knob that goes to 11, but all it does is sit there in some Walmart lot, its engine revved into the red over and over and over to make the plastic trim chatter and rattle. Peers thought it was awesome and rushed home to modify their Honda Civics and VW Rabbits accordingly

  • @Adnoydall If Eruption is a rice car, what do you consider NASCAR? Just curious. You seem to have an opinion about this and phrased it in an interesting and thought creating manner. Hendrix has always drove the 24 car BTW.

  • @Sashabooboo Most any rock song with a start and finish and a few bumps along the way in it is a candidate. I prefer songs to have some kind of story arc in them. Ed fiddles with the gas watch this! then diddles with the stereo see this! then farts around with his fart pipes check it out! then shows off his custom 3-blade wipers front and back! and on and on.

  • coolest thing I've ever heard man

  • He still has the WWII Bomb in that solo

  • @ttestates but then he put it into pop fluff Jump and that was the end of Eds playing being heavy metal thunder

  • from 2:09

    are you kidding me?!?!

  • sssiiiiiicccccckkkkkk

  • Cool..or..Hot??? I think both !!!

  • In a Club !! I can if their just passing through.

  • i need some acid !!!!!

  • whoa! freaky sounds. great inoovator well before first album came out.

    in noo vater ?

  • Can you imagine walking into a club and seeing this ?

  • i keep saying the 1978 van halen world tour is still very fresh in my mind 34 years later. and there 1979 world tour was just as good!

  • This sounds like 76'! He was so clean it's almost impossible. EVH is God

  • Man that is sooooo kick ass. Where the hell did you dig this up? Just when you thought you have heard every VH bootleg there is always cool stuff surfacing. I wish Ed would go back to that tone. His tone changes the sound of the whole band. His energy was off the charts. Very cool indeed.

  • EVH's early tone was amazing

  • Hints of Cathedral at 2:10

  • look at dave's gasping expression, its cause he is looking down at ed's cock, not his guitar.

  • @mireaux7 thats really gay.

  • @PersianPrideTime the whole R&R thing is gay

  • @mireaux7 Doin a reach around

  • Definitely club days, he tuned really deep back then. Let me check my collection and get back to you. PM me if you want me to send you any bootlegs! I have over 300 audio and video bootlegs

  • the fidelity of this audio is amazingly superb considering the purported age of this recording which undoubtedly raises much suspicion to its overall authenticity.

  • @mireaux7

the tapping part that is present at the end of the album-version of Erruption is not present in early versions of Erruption.

therefore, the absense of the tapping part in this version of Erruption is a good indication that this version of Erruption is an early version of Erruption.

  • Oh my, David's chest is hairy!

  • tuned a whole step down. Random :S. Still awesome though.

  • total homage to Page between 1:55 and 2:05.

  • @OceanderTethyseus well, he once said he discovered tapping when he was playing around with one of pages solos

  • the solos from the 70s is awesome. to bad alex vh told eddie to keep the tapping a secret.

  • havent heard this one bro!!! Thanks so much!!!

  • The echo is the Univox EC-80 A Echo Chamber...

  • Completely organic compared to the stiff and contrived style of Satriani, Johnson and Vai - Eddie was like the street fighter and they came from the same boys school...cool if you like that sound but they don't compare to the "Original" Eddie.

  • thanks bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He changed rock forever.

  • @stillnailing you mean jimi hendrix right

  • Correction, this is not from the "Civic Disobedience" nor "Strike While The Iron's Hot" bootlegs. It can be found on the "Eyes of the Night" bootleg. I have these boots & you can clearly hear the difference in EVH's tone, phrasing, choice of notes & structure. According to the Eyes bootleg it was recorded at the Pasadena Community College on 5/30/1976. I wasn't there but It could very well be possible that they played the college the next night. Or whoever made the boots incorrectly dated them.

  • NO WAH pedal The pedals he used was Phase 90 MXR Flanger and an EchoPlex,EC 80 modded ECHO and maybe an EQ(sometimes)

  • I got this off of program like Napster (I forgot what it was called) when I was younger. The part where he plays with the echo sounds like Dancin With the Streets intro, but he really does that on a Mini Moog

  • Awesome I love it

  • He's using a wah too!

  • Its actually not a wah pedal dude, its his originally script phase 90 pedal. Its does sound like it though.

  • Listen at 2:00 that's a wah. u can even hear him turn it off.

  • oh, I guess it is then. Eddie RARELY used a wah pedal until the F.U.C.K album in 1991 and then on and off all the way up until the present.

  • yes i know.

i heard "poundcake" the day the single was released b4 the album came out, remember hearing the wah and thinking it was a new sound for him.

  • @johnnybeane There was VERY little wah to speak of on Poundcake. There was a tad in the verse section rhythm but not much. He did use the wah quite a bit on that album, but contrary to popular belief it wasn't the first time he recorded with it. Listen to Cabo Wabo on 0U812 and you can hear it a little on the solo. of course he uses a lot of echo on that solo but the wah is there too.

  • i haven't heard this in 13 years!!

  • This is from the Civic Disobedience boot performed at the Pasadena Civic. May 1976. And it was edited.

  • Interesting.. no finger tapping, the intro, (almost) to "catherdral", no brown sound (less sustain).. thanks for sharing!!

  • xD This scared the sh*t out of me!! Early Eddie solo's were INSANE! Thanks for uploading!

  • No problem dude,Thanks for watching!!

  • Awesome post man. 5 stars

  • No prob.
